My usb connector seems to suffer frm some sort of contact error, because my PDA will only charge or sync properly(via USB) if I pull or push the plug to one side.
Is there a way to repair this manually, or must I take it to the repair shop?

Hi,
this morning i found my Xda2 with the usb plug...broken! It's impossible to put into the crandle.
Is there any way to repair it?
Where can i take replacement hw?
Thanks
Do you mean the plug on the cradle, or the socket in the PDA?
If the plug is broken, you can get sync/charge cables, and cradles from anywhere that sells qtek/imate/xda accessories such as ebay or www.expansys.com
If you mean the socket is broken, you will have to find a local service centre, but they will probably charge you for a whole new board which will be expensive.
If you can't afford this, the only way around is to buy a spare battery and charge these alternately in the cradle, and sync over bluetooth/irda.
Hi,
I inadvertently damaged the pins where the USB cable plugs into and I am not able to use active sync any longer. My PDA will still charge, but I have no data connection. Is there anyway to repair this issue? I recall seeing a pin out diagram awhile back but cannot find it any longer.
Does anyone have any suggesstions? Thanks,
Chad
Can you actually visually confirm that the pins on the phone are damaged?
I thought I damaged my phone as well.
Now my phone only works with certain chargers and certain usb cables. I got my phone to sync by using a new cable.
I would try a new cable if you haven't already.
Hi im just wondering about the pins on the usb power cabel, known as the sync cabel to
Anyway there are pins inside the usb end and the micro usb end, for the micro usb end what i each pin for? like 3 for loading the phone 1 for the phone to detect the cabel and ask if i wanna sync, mass storage etc.
Someone know? im most interest in the one with the phone know if the cabel is in or not.
hope you all understand me
mhh, im not sure i understand you, the usb cable has a standard pinout.
the hd2 decides its pluged to a charger or a (pc) usb port by the state of the data pins. if pin 2 & 3 are short then its a (real)charger if not its a usb port. i read about a third pinout where the hd2 starts the 'navi pane', but i have no info about that.
hope that helps mad
Ok but on USB mini, is the 3 and 4 the ones i need to remove if i just wanna say charge the phone with the computer witouth the windows appear on the phone?
the 1 and 4 i need for charge?
regards
i dont think so. when you look at the link i posted, you see that pin 1 is +5V and pin 4 is ground. removing either of them will result in a not charging hd2 anyway. to just charge the hd2 cut pin 2 and 3 (usb data lines) of the cable. this will result in a hd2 that is just charging at an pc usb port.
also make sure to go to the settings tab, choose menu, more, tap system, energy, select battery. then remove the checkmark in the option 'do not charge the device when it is connected to a pc'.
mad
Hello, I am new, from Spain.
Since yesterday, My ARC S, when I try to connect to PC via USB, shutdown netbook. In PC, when connect, USB connections stop working until I reboot PC...
Charge is ok, only by AC Adaptor. But if I move connector, stop charging for moments, until I connector again. But in PC usb, is impossible to make it works. Not charge by usb pc.
I have tried other cable, but the same

Hi. Last month I forgot my charger somewhere and I endded up using another one that didn´t work fine.
my problem is that the usb conector only work for charging (turbo charging work too) but not when I try to connect it in my pc.
I already use different cables so I think I should change the usb port, but it could be something else? maybe the board is broken?

If you tried to connect your USB cable directly to the back ports of your PC, i mean, the motherboard USB ports (not the front ones), and tried in differents PC's too, looks like your charging port has been damaged.
Something exactly as you described happened to me in the Nexus 5, but in that case, just had to change a flex cable that contained the charging port.
Anyway, it's a very cheap part, and it's pretty common that the welding of the USB port get broken. You will have to send your device to a mobile repairs shop, or change the charging port by yourself (only if you have some knowledge using welding stations).
I recommend the first option because it's the most common break on a phone, and these guys in the shop must be very accustomed to repair this (it's not very expensive either).
try any other phone's data cable! :?
I've tried another cable and my computer connects but says the file is empty. I tried my old phone and I can see files. So I think there must be a setting on my Moto 4 that I need to change. When I drag the status line down I don't see USB or connect to camera.

Hmm, when you pull the notification shade down, do you see a notification about 'USB Charging this device' when your device is connected? If so, then what happens when you tap that notification - do you see a pop-up like in the linked screenshot? If so, tap the Transfer Files option in that pop-up and your device should re-connect and show the internal storage of your device.
If your device is in USB charging mode, it seems normal to not show files (as a security measure?).
