Back in the early days of my first XDA, I had an app that could change phone profle (ring tone, voulme, vibrate etc.) based on location triangluated from phone masts.
Very useful for automatically changing the profile to suit office/home/pub etc.
Does anyone remember what it was called and where it can be found?

Has anyone this great app?
http://geocities.com/myppcpe2003/index.htm
Maybe a key for it?
I'D like to use it
It appears to be the best prog that I've looked for to switch my XDA2 to a changeable caller profile phone like a nokia!
I liked this app initially, great interface and lots of functionality, however I found a few problems:
Sometimes after changing profiles the ring would be silent when it should be heard - the dialog would pop up showing the caller, but no sound.
You can set it to automatically revert to the normal profile after <n> minutes, or at a certain time. For me this only happened when the XDA was on - thus if it should have switched profile and then a call comes in before you have switched on the device it still uses the wrong profile.
If these problems can be sorted it would be a great app.
As for a key... go to PocketGear and but it!
Yeahh..So It's not a perfect software again.
Do you know any program that analyze the caller from the contacts and you can select for example just one number or one goup to receive? The other ignored or silent like Nokia phones.
I have come across MUTX RingToneX which allows you to set ring tones by contact or category so this may well give you what you want. Can't tell you how good it is, but you can get a free trial from the link below:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=8675
Thx for the answer but I'm looking for an app with easy switching between sound profiles.
For example:
A) MODE
Every unknown number has RINGTONE1
FAMILY group has RINGTONE2
FRIENDS group has RINGTONE3
MY CARALARM SYSTEM (has a mobile calling function) has RINGTONE4
...etc.
B) MODE
Every unknown number is silent or ignored
Every other group than MY CARALARM SYSTEM is silent or ignored
MY CARALARM SYSTEM is ringing and answered (at night while I'm sleeping I want to receive just the call from my car's alarm system)
It's just a simple thing that a lot of phone's using. (Nokia & others)
I hope somebody understands my problem and knows an apllication with the ability I wrote above.
Thx
I think (not sure!) that you need a combination of two programs:
JGUI My Phone Profile AND IA Caller ID (OR Caller2picture)

THanx the answer but I'm sure (not think) that I don't need the combination you wrote because My phone profile can switch just sound profiles with setting the ring volume or vibrating, IA caller ID can add a picture to a call, Caller2picture can add a ringtone and a picture to a call.
But I need what I wrote upper, please read it perfectly, because it is something different.
I need a software that has the ability to verify a caller-group and for example you can reject all number/call except the caller-group you set like with Nokia phones.
ANYBODY DOES UNDERSTAND WHAT I WANT???????
Maybe because I'm from Hungary and my english is not so well..... :?
My Phone Profile 3.1
My Phone Profile 3.1Full
Reg Code: TMPP-1177-JGUI
Have a fun!
If you have an XDA II, you don't need to get the IA Caller ID because it's already on the XDA II. IA Caller ID is called Photo Contacts in the XDA II.
Caller2picture can add a ring tone to a group. Whenever you want to reject a specific group, give it a silent ring tone.
@VHS: bad boy... i don't think that this should be made public... software worth using is worth bying.
hehe ...bad not bad, but apart from that a/m ...
discussion has been pretty much interesting to me as to sound profiles etc, I have been also looking for some time for software allowing for easen phone handling
regards and Happy New Year,
monika
Finger Clix
Check this:
http://www.imaginet-software.com/index.aspx?p=fingerclix_en
It is the best phone dialer ever!
thank you
I wolud give it a try

:? :x
So..Nobody understands what I want.
OK.
Tekflow:
Thanx, but I know that I can set a silent ringtone for a group with one of these softwares. But I NEED SOMETHING DIFFERENT:
I have a car within a mobile-phone-alarm-system. If somebody does something with my car, this mobile (in my car) calls my mobile phone which is with me. So, usually (always) I switch off my phone by night. But if I switched off my phone I would never know my car's calling. That's why when I had a Nokia7650 I can set a profile called Night-profile which has the settings with all calls + all groups has a silent ringtone and my Car-alarm-number has a loud-sirene-ring. That caused when somebody called me except my car my phone was silent. When my car called it ringed with the highest level. And if somebody wanted to stole my car I had heard it. But not now. Because I don't want everybody to call me from 6 a.m., that's why I switch off my phone, but if I switch off my phone I can't hear if my car's calling me.
That's what I can't set in my XDA2.
With no any of your suggested programs.
I know all of them, and I know none of them has the ability I wrote upper.
SO........SOMEBODY UNDERSTANDS WHAT I WANT TO SAY SINCE DEC.05.???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
p.s.:I think so that FingerClix is the best dialling program for the XDA (I use it), but I need another thing, not just for dialling or to give a ring volume for all numbers and groups. My phone profiles can set just a general volume and vibrate settings without any choice to give a different volume for just one group or one phone number like Nokia.
(Maybe since dec.5 there's an update for MyPhoneProfiles or for the others and they have expandable ability?)
I (hopefully) understand what you talking about (have had a Nokia for years...), but i'm not aware of such a tool at this time for the MDA/XDA.
regards,
If I understand you: you need a program that gives you the opportunity of turning off the sound of the telephone for all incoming calls except one number or one group of numbers, or, better, to make call barring for all calls except for one number or one group of numbers (some kind of filtering). I also don't know if this kind of program is available for the Pocket PC Phone. Anyone on the forum aware of this ?
anybody has version 5?
I think what Tuningszocske want is something like Blacklist in Nokia Symbina phones. I know of a Chinese program call CallerFirewall, it allows one to add contacts to black or white list, you can choose to block all contact in black list, receive call only from white list or block all incoming calls etc. This program is compatible with dopod686、O2XDA、T-Mobile、and LegendT108.
Hi,
Over a period of time, I have been able to solve many problems with my qtek9100. However, these are 2 things, I am still fighting with.
Call Monitor:
I have tried a couple of softwares but none are fully customizable. HudsonMobile Phone Dashboard is good but it allows customizations on total minutes based talk plans. In my country, talk plans are not flat rate /min based. Rate depends which networks I call or where I call. So typically I have to set rules for certain number prefixes to use X rate/min and some to use Y.. so on.
I found a good software for this from Pisiloc software for symbian systems and was happy with it till I used Nokia. But its really getting tough to find one on WM5.
Cell Info
Did someone get this to work so far? I tried the engineering mode and googled around to see what all that information means. However, there's nothing which shows or can be used to find the cell info. Its frustrating to see a nokia show the cell info and this mighty phone not showing it.
Can someone please give me some pointers from here ?
Try phonealarm - has a good call monitor and varying profiles for diff tariffs see here http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm
Nicetrack might be what you are after to show cell info see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46803

I hvae tried Nicetrack before. The problem is that you need to collect the cells and name them manually. And cell info that you see are the names you give.
What I was talking about is some software that shows the cell info name from the cell tower. The cell towers of my network have an area name coded with them. This way when I drive, my phone shows me the area I am in, simply by displaying the text from tower its latched to. This is an inbuilt feature in nokias and I know my operator provides it. Just that the wizard doesnt show it. My hunt is still on for such a 3rd party software.

It seems to me you're actually looking for a way to read cell broadcast messages. They're available in WM5 as in every phone around (not only Nokia's). Go to Settings->Phone->Other[tab]->Transmission Channels(enable)->Settings then click New and create a new channel with channelID 050

OK
Checked "Info"
OK
So now with this, what should I be seeing and where.
Thanks for ur help in advance

This might be useful for you - engineer mode - i placed a link from gsmtestmode.exe in the \windows directory and got all kinds of cell info.
see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=36807
There is a Today plugin titled DKToday, which displays cell strength in a four segment bar graph, operator and cell name. However here in Oz (Australia) the cell name works, but it also comes up as a balloon at the bottom of the screen as a notification (annoying). The software author has been unable to stop the balloon appearing. This is on a K-Jam. Yo need to enable cell broadcasts as stated earlier in the posts.
If a fix is found or a new solution is found it will be popular.
Hi there,
Does anyone know of phone profile functionality on the Hermes or thrid party software? Eg Normal, Outdoors, Meeting Silent. My previous smartphone had this functionality and it was even intregrated with my calander so when I was in a meeting it would automatically change the profile to Meeting and back to normal afterwards.
Thanks
PhoneAlarm will change the profiles according to your meeting schedule in pocket outlook. In addition it provides much more functionality to your phone. For trial version see their website www.pocketmax.net
Hope you find this useful
Thanks.
Looks preety good can it also change the connection settings when WLAN is turned on or off?

yes, it can do this based on profile and also by (location) cell tower
Is there an option within the phone settings to extend how long the phone rings for before it goes through to voicemail?
I have looked everywhere and cant seem to find it. I'm on Vodafone by the way
No there isn't. I believe this is a setting from the provider which cannot be changed.
You can change the time when the ring is forwarded to your mailbox.
Check the following settings:
settings, Phone , Services, call forwarding, retrieve settings
(guessed the english names because using a German Rom)
Einstellungen, Telefon, Dienste, Rufumleitung, Einstellungen abrufen
Sorry, never seen those settings. I couldn't change them though but this could be because of a temporary poor connection.

Cheers Hogar,
It was exactly where you said it would be.
Sorry for the post in Software and applications, it should have been in General chat.

It's a function of the network rather than your phone. 30seconds is the longest you can have
How is this possible on the tab ? I am trying to find out myself for quite some time now and i cant seem to find it.
I am on JM6
Go to file manager open any mp3 file via the default music player, click the menu key, it gives two options share and set as, when you go to set as it gives option to set as video call, voice call, specific user, etc etc.

On mine that doesn't work, as the contact list showing after chosing "set as" is totally empty, thus search don't give any results (despite my samsung app contact list have 200+ entries sync with google contacts).
Is there a way to access the default contact list to ad phone numbers to show there? I wonder why the default contact list and the samsung app one aren't linked...
Just open it fromhe the music player it self dont run the music just from the music library long press then set as or download ring extender from the market
Nope. There is a bug on the tab about this. All my contacts were synchronized/imported from google contacts and facebook. They appear on the contact list. But none of them show on the last selection operation trying to assign a ringtone/mp3 to, search function does not help, empty list.
I added a test contact manually on the phone. This one shows up.
Contacts are not imported each time i boot the GT, but they are not stored on the phone list.
Am i missing something? Any way copying all contacts to phone?
I may try the app you mentioned to see if it works.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
App didnt work.
Found that on the contact list you can modify a contact entered manually and set a ringtone direcly there.
But on sync contacts (all of mine...) when i tap "modify" i get a "impossible to modify
SNS contacts on this phone"
annoying as i use a bt headset and different ringtones would have helped me to guess whos calling before picking up without taking the phone out.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Can't even add ppl to groups...
Course, the preferred way this /should/ work is you set the mp3 YOU want as your theme tune, then when you call people, they hear your theme tune playing.
One of the voip apps should enable this! (with an option to turn it off of course when it's abused!).
solved
OK, just to let you know that after several attempts I finally found two solutions on my own.
First one consists in a light app, meant to "cut" quite precisely mp3 wavefiles located on your device to produce rigngtones: its name is "Ringdroid" from Ringdroifd team. The second one is the well known "Zedge", a pick & share ringtones app. Both allow setting a ringtone to every contact, even if it's a synchronized one thus not showing in the default phone adress book when trying to assign through basic music apps.
I tried and it worked.
These two apps are the only ones I fond working in purpose at the moment.
Shame this wasn't on stock feature.
Enjoy your tab
