Dial link in Calendar - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi,
A friend of mine has an 8125 and he can dial directly from Outlook (Calendar, Tasks, Email). Outlook for some reasons interprets numbers as telephone number and underlines it, so he can click on it and dial the number directly. On my 8525 I see this capability in emails, but not in calendar, where I really needed it. Whenever I have a phone number in a calendar appointment or task its not underlined and I have to copy and paste it into the phone application. Very cumbersome.
Is there a setting on the phone that automatically interprets the numbers in the calendar and underlines it for direct dial out capbilities, or is that something that needs to be setup on the Outlook server?
BTW this applies to appointments made on the laptop as well as on the phone.
Thanks for any help.

in the appointment's note: tel:xxx-xxxxxxx
It'll work.

Nope. Doesn't work.
It is strange that all numbers in emails are automatically interpreted as phone numbers and are underlined for direct dial out, but appointments don't.

Pocket Informant Appointment problem

Wondering if anyone can shed any light on my problem :
I use PI daily for work, adding in (future) clients to visit for the week, but one problem i have is not having a field to add the clients telephone number in the appointments field.
As these are possible future clients, i have no need yet to add them to contacts to retrieve there number, so basically what i am asking is, is there a field to add a telephone number in the appointment secton, or am I forced to add them to contacts first ?
TIA
Any contacts needed for that appointment which are not in your contacts.... I just tend to add the contact in the notes tab for that appointment. If then that contact is needed, then I add them to my contacts.
Is another alternative to create a contacts category "potential clients" or similar as then you can filter them from your normal view of contacts if you wish?

Separate Outlook Contacts from SIM Contacts when dialing?

I just got my new Cingular 8215 and love it. I am on the road and the ability to access email is fantastic. However, I have found that I have to scroll through a LOT of Outlook contacts before I make it to my SIM contacts when dialing a number.
I know that I can just start dialing or typing a name (smart dial), but it would really be nice to ONLY see my SIM contacts when scrolling down the contact list when dialing a phone number.
Most of my Outlook contacts are only email address, so it is a waste of space and time for dialing!
Any ideas/suggestion/comments?
Thanks!

Recognize Phone Numbers

Is there any way to get the Hermes to recognize phone numbers in say an email? I would love to be able to just click a link in an email to a recognized phone number instead of having to cut and paste into the phone app. Even better would be a way to recognize a phone number on an appointment in a calendar for all of those useless conference calls that I find my self on.
I'm currently running WM6 LVWS 3.30.2.1 on my 8125.

click and dial
You should be able to click on a phone number in a message or appointment and get an option to dial. I always make sure when I put phone numbers in my appointments to type the 10 digit number ie 555.555.5555
yeah just don't use spaces, it comes down to the formatting of the number
I see that the phone numbers if entered xxx-xxx-xxxx or xxx.xxx.xxxx in an email work when displayed in the pocket Outlook email client. Phone numbers of xxx-xxx-xxxx or xxx.xxx.xxxx in an appointment(subject or body) are not displayed as links. I viewed them in both the default calendar application as well as Pocket Informant 2007 just to see if that could determine if they were phone numbers and neither could.
Can you verify that you see links in appointments? I'm creating them in Outlook on my laptop by the way and using Active Sync to sync them to the phone if that matters.
Rick
Right after I sent that last reply I checked what would happen if I created the appt in Pocket Informant 2007 Calendar and that appt also does not show links for the phone numbers.

looked into this a long time ago and did not find a solution...WM for the PDA doesn't seem to have this feature. WM for Smartphones has the feature (my previous phone was a 2125 and it worked great). Of course, your friend's 8125 should be running the PDA version, so that provides some hope....
perhaps someone will enlighten as to why, or if there has been a fix...but I miss the same feature.

[Q] How do I properly sync Google contacts to reflect only what I want?

I have my contacts synced with my Google account, but it throws every single email/number I have ever used/sent email to the phone. If I try to send a text and push a particular letter, I get every single email address that starts with that letter and then I get various contacts information. That's a bit too much information.
I don't know how I had it synced with my iPhone, but if I push "A" then it only gives me the contacts that I have (which are synced with my Google account) phone numbers* for my texts app. On email, it will first bring up the most contacted (that what it seems like) beginning with that letter.
On the G2, I get the same entire list in no particular order for both the text and email app. I can't seem to only include just the contacts that I had on the iPhone previously. * I did figure out how to disable it showing contacts without numbers, so my call list now looks correct, but is still a mess when I try to send a text/email.
Does this make sense?
Essentially:
On the text app-- I only want the numbers of my contacts that have been synced with Google that phone numbers. These are the contacts I have located on google.com/contacts.
On the email app-- I would prefer to only have the email contacts that I often communicate on top of the list, but if that's not possible, I can live with typing in more letters to fine tune my address.
The first part is killing me. I don't want to have to type out the contact's name when sending a text when I'm used to doing it one (sometimes two) letters previously.
I had also tried to sync my FB account but quickly undid that since it just added all my Facebook friends on there (a lot of them have numbers, but I don't want them on my phone). With iPhone, it would only sync information/picture if I had that contact already on my Google contacts and on my phone.
Should I just wipe the phone and resync again? I just got it, so there's no real data on it for me lose. Would that solve anything?
