How do I change the SMS sent noise - I've found the file, called msgbox.wav in \Windows\ but it looks like it's on the ROM. Is there any way of changing it without flashing the ROM? Are there plug-ins that enable this, and if so what are they?
Thanks
Ben
Check the wiki, if you look under the http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry. There are several ways to disable this. the fit4cat Hermes tweaker does it with ease.

Okay okay...I know there are already a few CAB files with performance tweaks, but I made one (my 1st CAB file ) with the settings I like!
You can download 2 versions, one for Dutch users (like me) and one for WWE users.
I have 2 different versions because of a Today Item tweak with the Calendar and on Dutch Roms this is called Agenda.
I know that most of the settings here are also in apps like Registry Wizard, but this CAB files executes way faster then installing and configuring Registry Wizard
A little note: You can uninstall the program, but the settings will stay in the Registry so you have to change them manually!
Regards,
Molski
UPDATE (04-08-2006):
I updated the file to file into one file for Dutch and WWE users, I almost forgot about this file so I still didn't mention what all the registry changes are doing, but like Dr. Puttingham said....in the Wiki you can find everything back!
This file also consumes about +/- 1-2 MegaByte from your RAM Memory, but hey...what do you like more...More RAM or More Speed?
p.s. Here you can see which Registry Settings are applied in the CAB files:

Thanks molski, could you include a list of what all the reg tweaks do, for those not so techie, either in a post or txt or doc format, cheers.
I will....when I have some more time, I barely had the time to make this CAB file for myself
Nice going. My files are downloaded 14 times already, so I guess people find my files useful?
If so, please let me know, I will see what more I can create or adjust
I had a huge load of support with my questions on this forum, so it's nice to finally do something back for the community

thx,
can be usefull after upgrade or hard reset

Thanks molski! I think you've got a few more tweaks included than the CommonSpeedRegHacks I was previously using.
Great job!

i have got rom dopod 818 pro (qtek s200)
thanks
I dont know if it works on a S200, it is created for a Wizard, so I can only say try it and see if you notice any difference in performance
Molski
any chance you can explain what exactly the tweaks do?
Hi, is there a guide how to make a cab file that automatically installs registry tweaks? I'd like to make my own custom one, so after a hard reset I don't have to do the tedious tweaking...
Could someone explain how to make one of these CAB files for registry changes? I have searched high and low for the answer.
I did something similar for my 8125. Since I have a tendency to frequently hard reset it, I did a registry file with a bunch of the normal hacks I do, as well as setting up MMS and such. Works like a charm, although I use Resco Explorer with the registry option to do it. I haven't made a CAB file yet.
Saves loads of time after a hard reset.
How might one make this registry file? I'd really like to know.
What do the tweaks do.. .please
Can you tell us what these tweaks do?
@wiredup If you read the WIKI you'll get a lot of knowledge regarding the reg settings. These WM5 changes have been documented countless times here and also on the BA WM5 forum and other places I'm sure.
You can do some googling for more knowledge if you so desire.
molski incorporated these into a very nice cab file that is one of the very first things that I install on all of my devices. His is the most complete so far regarding speed improvements IMO
(Just one of his many contributions)
Thanks again molski!

What is the default value for Glyphcache? I read bot 8 and 4 MB in different threads?
Tweaks...
You're tweaks seem good so far... Would be nice if you could put what each one does... I am familiar with most thou. I like my GPRS/EDGE Icon to be different, so I went back and changed that. Also are skinny scroll bars actually providing better performance?
I'm gonna try this out for awhile with OMAPSCALER set at 228 (I had it at 240 with random shutdowns before, but I dont think it was overheating) and see how my performance is.
Also there are programs out there that will create CABs that change registry values... i.e. "WinCE CAB Manager"

Hi,
I've just received a v1605/Hermes 200 from Vodafone and as usual they have managed to remove some of the most useful things from the Hermes.
I have searched high and low for the default green phone dialer skin, the one that allows for video calling, but I cannot find it anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction so that I can download it?
[EDIT: Found it HTC_TyTN_1.18.255.105_ExtROM contains the default green phone skins for both video and normal phones. I also found the default theme somewhere too (HTC_Default).]
Also, I want to have the task list displayed on the Today screen, but this is not an option on Vodafone (it was there before their customisation CAB's removed it). Does anyone know how I can bring the task list back?
Oh and last but not least, is there a way to get the auto-lock on the Today screen too?
thanks

SOLVED
After trying the various reg edit methods that had been shown, I couldn't get any of them to work. The way I eventually got it to work was to hard reset the device and interrupt the Vodafone customisations, then take a copy of the registry and copy the registry to my computer. I then hard-reset the device again and but time alowed the Vodafone customisations, then I added the missing entries back in the registry.
See below if you'd like to see the pre-Vodafone Today/Items:

Problems using a PC-based registry editor to change settings
Hello,
Please forgive my ignorance here but I'm trying to alter the registry on my Voda compact III (Hermes 200) to show up the task list and key lock etc. When I alter a zero value to a one I am told that "access is denied." I've been using a little free piece of PC software called "Mobile Registry Editor". Is this suitable or should I be going about it in another way?
Also, there seem to be a host of other changes made on this ext-ROM as discussed on other threads so I can't help thinking it might be worth just removing the vodafone one altogether and then simply looking for a patch that allows me to do MMS and video calling without Voda's own Phone app. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Johann.
Vodafone MMS settings CAB won't install
I have binned the Vodafone extrom now and am running without it (I've installed the light blue dialer screen). I'm still having problems with MMS and video calling. Does anyone know which one of the three Vodafone CAB files I would need to install to get this working? I tried to install the Vodafone settings file in the hope that this would enable the MMS and video calling. I've now got an MMS inbox but it won't send or receive so I'm wondering if there're just some little bits of information missing. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Johann.
I keep getting a txt from system administrator after every txt i send. Anyone know why or how i turn this off? Its getting real annoying now
I believe this will do what you need:
Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418151 which will point you to http://www.touchxperience.com/en/advanced-configuration-tool/downloads.html
Install
Run the program on your phone
Navigate to these settings
Messaging\SMS sent delivery notification
Messaging\SMS delivery notification
Set to disabled
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=84285&highlight=disable+verizon+text
thats the fix. seems the old way of doing it doesn't work.
none of the two suggested options work, when i try to enable it then disable i get the same result... any other ideas?
you tried the cab file over from ppcgeeks? That cleared it up for me. Well for the most part occasionally it comes back. But it had the sys admin msg text and the sms sent text bubble as well

////Update: It worked YAY!!! no more anoying sms sent mssg, thanks ....
for those of you who wish to not register check the attachments....
i still get the system administrator txt msg if i use the touchflo txt msg but if i use the arcsoft i don't even with this cab installed. weird stuff
worked for me just installed it to the phone memory and worked, i dunno, i also have the Advanced Config tool installed with the sent message notification disabled. all that i get is a notification on the status bar, the new txt icon at the top but no notification comes up...
I think I will try this out later, seems like a nice easy fix.. On my Imagio, do I just install the cab. file that Richard713 posted above or do I have to do anything else.
Another question, how does a registry editor work. Does a registry editor app have to be installed on the Imagio for it to work or can you install it on a pc and then make changes to the Imagio via usb cable. Just wondering? Where do I get a registry editor app.. are these two good, Resco Explorer or PHM Regedit

You need to have the app installed on your phone. I haven't used PHMs one, but resco explorer works fine for me.
Can someone point me to a list of common and popular Registry tweaks? Ive already Enabled Phone Band Selection, and changed the chache size for TF3D to make it quicker.
The one that I am looking for is to disable the stupid startup sound.
Any others?
Take a look at Advanced Config...
Huh? Advanced Config where?
Send me your device and I install it if that is more easy for you than using the SEARCH-button...
I HATE htc messenger and have been looking nonstop for a cab to disable it with no luck....PLEASE HELP!
Not sure how to disable it completely or if you have the old one still...? But google or forum search for something called "classic sms tweak" or like "sense classic sms tweak". I use it for sense 2.1 and going to SMS tab and clicking on the text brings me to the old and awesome windows mobile 6.1 SMS client !
That's as much as I can help if you use sense? Not sure if it's what you're looking for but give it a try.

This should also work for any AT&T users who want to be able to send MMS and not have the HTC Messaging built in.
1.) Install the 1st cab in this post to disable the HTC Messaging.
2.) Soft Reset
3.) Install any WVGA arcsoft .cab. I used this one by provided in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624375
4.) Soft Reset.
5.) Install the AT&T Settings.cab. This will add in the proper MEdia Net settings and ArcSoft settings for AT&T subscribers. *Note* You may need to go Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced and select MEdia Net from the list of profiles if it doesn't come up correctly.
I also added some network tweaks into the AT&T Settings.cab that I have picked up from various users all over this forum.
This may not work for all users on all ROMs but so far so good with me.

i'm using stock rom sense 2.1 what buru898 was talkin about is what im lookin for if anyone has or know where that cab could be found it would be much appreciated
Hey I would have uploaded it before but was on my phone ;p.
Here you go man. I like my ROMS super fast instead of eye candy (even though it does look damn pretty) and also disable the stupid HTC volume because it loads up faster and I like the ringer and text/alert tones at different volume levels so if you want that one I put it here too .
I flashed a new rom yesterday and now when I write a sms I don't have the count of characters. Is that also a "feature" of the new htc messenger?
I often wrote messages of 161 to 165 characters but couldn't check it now. Any fix?
