you transfer the themes via bluetooth, infrared or directly to your memory card. the themes shall be stored on your memory card

No. They must be in your windows folder on the device.

Actually correct me if I'm wrong. I believe they go in the "My documents" folder.

Put them either in Storage\My Documents or Root directory of Storage Card

Bad Idea

You are looking for problems...If you put this onto the storage card then the device must continue polling the memory card. There are already enough problems and slags directed at the memory card. Save yourself lockups and headaches. Only store your theme there and put you favorites int the windows folder. Peace

Themes folder, how to change it?

Is there any way or registry hack, to specify an alternate folder where WM will take the Themes (.tsk files)?
I know WM by default searches the '\Windows' and '\My Documents' folders, as well as their subfolders.
However I'd like to store my Themes in a folder located at the Storage Card, in order to save PDA memory space.
Doesn't it already do that? I've got several themes sat on my storage card and they show up when I go into Today properties. However, I believe they do need to be on the ROOT of the card, not in a folder.
Cheers
Ant
Thanks, I'll check it.
However my intention was excatly to put them into a dedicated subfolder on the Storage Card.
And that still needs a solution, if I do not want to use some 3rd party Themes Manager.
Correct! It works, if .tsk files get copied to Storage Card root.
However not really what I'm looking for :?
Thanks! Something new learnt anyway

Help: cannot see theme files

Have installed some of theme files (.tsk) on Storage Card\My Documents\ but cannot find it from Today theme selection.
Alreday checked there is no ignore_mydocs file on Storage Card.
Any other possible cause and solution why my theme files cannot be seen from Today theme selection?
Thanks.

You need to place tsk files on the storage card itself. Not on any folder, but the very root of the storage card.
They need to be installed to one of the 3 places:
\device\My Documents
\device\Windows
\device\Storage Card
They may work in others but these are the main ones.
Also if they have the hidden attribute set they won't work.
Solved .. I put the theme files on the root directory of storage card and now can see the themes ..
Thanks!

How To Install Themes

I've read the Wiki and still can't find it. How do I install themes on my Wizard?
copy the .tsk files into your windows directory.
you mean .tsk?
Copy them to /my documents, and go to /start menu/settings/today, then choose your theme.
I kept getting a message about disc being write protected. Remove protection or use another disc. Any idea what that means? Also do I save them to the phone or to memory card?

Anybody got anything on this?
I said save it to \windows which obviously is on your phone not on the mem card. As for that "write protected" stuff i don't know what to think of it man.
open "my computer", double click on "my mobile device", navigate to windows, copy/paste your themes to windows directory and they will appear in the today theme menu. if you still don't undersatnd then i give up./
You can copy the theme files also to SD card either directly in the main SD card folder or in a folder which does not go deeper than 1 level (meaning: Storage card\Themes\ ) This keeps your precious internal memory free for other things!
I UNDERSTAND what you said and that is what I did. That message is what I got when I did that. I tried it on the phone and the card. Thanks anyway though. Themes are overrated anyway I'm not stopping till I brick this thing!!!!!!
If you copy them on to your SD card, don't put them in any file on there. Put them straight on to "\storage card". The question I have is are you getting the write protected error on your phone or on your computer and if you're getting that error on your computer end can you copy any other files over to your storage card? I was thinking that maybe you accidentally write protected your storage card.

CAB's......Keep or delete?

This may seem like a silly question, but once i've installed a cab file do i have to keep it in the program file folder on my internal storage or can i delete it to free up some memory?

You can delete the CAB after install, there's an option in Advanced Config to do this automatically for you
Dave
Thanks for the quick reply. Appreciate it....
Or you can keep the .cabs in a file named apps, so when you flash you have all your favorite apps at hand.

I'd also go for this one!
I keep mine on the internal storage so they are not robbing vital memory, but ZIP them in one file just to save space and tidy things up. Nice and easy to unzip if I ever flash the phone! (or the next time I do it, seems to be fortnightly at the mo).
Keep them. Best place for that is the internal storage. Sadly mine are in a folder called "Current" as I seem to be flashing on a regular basis (Swiftblades fault as he keeps updating his ROMS)
Oops, i've gone and deleted them all. But i've got them all on my pc anyhow. Prob put them back on my phone again then. I was just trying to free up some memory as i've only got around 20mb left. Not much considering i've only got 1 theme stored and a few additions on top.
Where does all the memory go to?

how to innstall programs?

I have look through every site here, but cant seem to find the solution to this? I have a couple of .cab files on my computer, and I'm not sure where to put them into my HD2. Which map/fil directory should I transfer these files to ?
copy them to the storage card, and click on them on your phone.
During installation you will get the questions to install in phone or memory card. In most cases choose memorycard.
Nice, so I dont make any new folders, just load them into the card?
Thanks, I got it now!!
Thank you for reply!
hi mate where all a beginner some day, yep ur solution is copy to phone storage, and then install by selecting the .cab on ur phone it will ask you where u want to install to
