Hi! I had 2 diffrent XDA Trion devices (first one was exchanged by O2) and ran original O2 roms (german) on the first device and on the second device htc wwe 1.35 and the AKU3.3 test rom.
And everytime had the same problem:
When I turn on "hardware button sounds" in settings. The button "click" sound will lag behind after only a few button presses and the device will become really slow while playing the "click" sounds. -- very very annoing while typing.
Also, and this is even more annoing:
In Start-> Programs when turning the wheel, it will scroll only straight down and not as intended. funny thing: when I stop turning the wheel, and wait for the sounds to stop, it will then scroll through the remaining "scroll operations" in the normal way.
I had a guy at the O2 hotline try that on a trion, and he had the same problem.
I tried hard-reset and hard reset without installing stuff from ext-rom.
Same behavior on both devices.
Both are Herm100 first one was a HT626 second one is a HT630.
Thank you in advance for your help!!

Quirky prob. The directional buttons, center button, and the contacts button all don't work at all. Odd. I opened the casing with the 'bad sound' tutorial as a guide, cleaned the contacts, no effect.
Strangely enough, the call and end call buttons weren't working either till who the heck knows what I did. Now thery work perfectly.
I mean honestly, this is some supernatural behavior. Tempermental hardware buttons? I need Scully on the scene now.
I can work around it, but can think of other things I'd rather do... like use the phone normally.
Not expecting much, given the strangeness factor(tm) but any help much appreciated.
did you use TCPMP?
i've had same problem after this player.
No TCPMP, or atleast...
Not that I know of, unless it's gets installed by default in the extended rom.
Here's another strange bit of behavior. Every 5 mintues or so, the 'contacts' button gets 'virtually' pressed twice. Whatever is assigned. Even though tHe button itself doesn't seem to work
Furthermore still, after the phone comes back from standby, the call and end call buttons don't work until I press another button first. Then they work fine.
So farm the directional pad doesn't respond to anything, neither one in the middle.
I don't know whether it's a hardware prob or software at this point.
Phone has both wwe and radio 1.13 and all the extended t-mobile apps intalled.

Hi All,
Scrolling does not work as expected. In my HTC Hermes – Cingular 8525 there is a bug with the button repeat rate setting.
I have tried various settings using the – Settings – Buttons – Up/Down Control – Repeat Rate, and still have a problem with the behavior.
For example, hold down the 5-way button to scroll through contacts for a few seconds and the highlight of contacts continues to repeat long after I let up on the 5-way hardware button.
On my HTC Wizard / Cingular 8125, I can set the repeat rate to the maximum setting and the scrolling stops immediately when I let up on the button. This is the expected behavior.
The 8525 continues to scroll and scroll and scroll. This is a bug.
Anyone else experience this?
Any thoughts on a fix through a registry hack?
Thanks in advance.

No, can't say I'm experiencing that problem. Or any problem for that matter. My Cingular 8525 is still going strong. I hope you get this fixed.
same problem with my Oz trion. Very annoying.
I had the same problem with my Cingular 8525...even returned it for a new one. The problem didn't exist in the store (tested it), but started after I changed the settings to my tastes. Try going to Today/Settings/Sounds & Notifications/Hardware buttons. Make sure the box is NOT checked. No button sounds, but your phone should speed up. It worked for me. Now I'm a poster not a lurker!!
I had the same issue with my T-mobile Vario II. Sound disabling has solved it for me, too. For non-experts this might be very odd that the solution to a navigation issue is to be found at a sound function. Happy we are that some people take the struggle to find such unexpected solutions. Thank you, Bookworm!
I had this exact same problem with my 8525. I would scroll thru my contacts and be like "God this scroll wheel is slow..... stop!! damnit, quit going after I stop turning the wheel!" I set the repeat rate to the fastest and took the sound off the the hardware buttons and now it works like a charm. PERFECT!!
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I have enjoyed my 8125 and when I upgraded to the 8525, I ritualistically came here for all the answers. However, there is one issue that I have experienced that is not echoed by anyone else.
I have ROM version 1.34.502.1 and have the following apps installed:
Eten Dialer
Phonealarm
PQzII
TomTom 6 Navigator
TCPMP
Google Maps
Live Search
The problem is that when I freshly boot the phone and place a call, I can manipulate the in-call volume via the scroll wheel. Up, down, no problem. However, when I exit out of the dialer screen and return to it a few hour later, I find that I can no longer turn the in-call volume down via the scroll wheel--only up works.
If anyone can shed some light on this matter, I sure would appreciate it.
Thank you!
Anyone have any insights into this matter?

Not much help, but just an observation. The behaviour shown by your scroll volume is certainly not normal. I tested this out on mine. What I did notice was that there is some lag in the response of the scroll volume - so long in fact that it can appear to be non-responsive. It seems the device "remembers" the number of clicks up and keeps trying to raise the volume even though its at maximum. So even if I then scroll down it can take a few seconds for it to complete trying to raise the volume before it begins trying to respond to my down scroll. In fact this behaviour can make it appear as if when scrolling down it actually is raising the volume - but I think this is only due to laggy behaviour in my case?

I found that the E-Ten dialer disabled my scroll wheel short-cut to call history and quick dial. When I removed it these functions came back. Shame, I like the big buttons.
Mike
Thank you guys for your responses. It wasn't a huge annoyance for me. I just don't like it when functionality just evaporates away from my phone inexplicably. Hopefully, it can be resolved somehow? I will look for further responses.
Thank you all in advance.
It's the PQzII that disable the in-call volume adjustment. But my version is: "down" -> turn in-call volume down, "up" -> switch to today.

Hi all,
I uploaded new PQzII.exe for Hermes.

*) Jog wheel (Volume Down) bug fix while calling.
Please try it and let me know if you find any trouble.
cheers,
tom
*)Edit
if you use "0x76" as any function. It has been changed to "0xAA".
There are some Hermes devices as like DoCoMo hTcZ/Softbank X01HT have "MOJI" button.
The button outputs "0x76" but it could be a cause of Jog wheel problem while calling.
as for me, I used 0x76 key code for IME on/off. and changed to "0xAA".
if you don't use 0x76 you don't need to care about this.
cheers,
tom
I've search through:
Gaijin Guide for x01HT
Video Call Button
Hermes Wiki
A bunch of searches have come up empty.
Softbank x01HT
Using Pays Rom WM6.1
or K's Pro rom
Call Button OK.
The Video Button and End Call button however do not work (screen menus work fine)
Any suggestions?

Buttons not working
If a button stops working, yet you know the functionality still works, then I'd suggest a battery reset. Simply remove the battery from your 8525 (must be completely out) for about 15-20 seconds, place it back into your 8525 and turn it on.
I had to do this back when I had iPAQs and Dell Axims, and have to do it with my 8525 from time-to-time when my camera button stops working. This performs a hardware reset. As long as your battery is in your 8525, there is essentially power flowing within the 8525, even though you have the screen turned off. By doing this, you're allowing all power to drain from the 8525's circuit cards/boards and performing a hardware reset (whereas using the stylus only gives you a software reset).
I hope this helps you!
Thanks. No dice (sorry for late reply).
Changing the os to AT&T clears up the call / end button. The moment I load a homebrew like pays, TnT ... The call/end/video buttons stop.
Very Odd.
I admit defeat, I've serached and searched for both these issues so forgive me if they are stupid questions
First daft question, how does the end call key work? the actual hard button, not the one on the screen. I know it works because if I press it while in the control panel it'll beep and drop back to the today screen but try as I might when I have the phone app up it just will not end a call..... Whats it for if it doesn't do that?
The reason I need to know is my case has a hard cover for the screen so without opening the case I cant press "end" on the touchscreen.
Second daft question, sometimes when typing on the keypad (any of them) sometimes the startmenu pops up and I end up opening an app instead of pressing a key. So annoying when it happens LOL
I've tried loads of WM6.1 roms to resolve the problems but generally find something that doesn't work and am finding that WM5 (The original Orange UK ROM) is more stable and certainly quicker but nothing I do resolves these two problems.......
Oh and while I'm here, does anybody know which is the best threaded SMS thingy for WM5? loved that feature on 6.1
Thanks in advance for your time guys
Tim
Hello. I also have teh problem with teh start menu wich pops up when I touch the screen. Sometimes it happens more often, sometimes no. Anyone knows what might be the problem?
