hello
i have a 2020 and i can't get a connection with a network, so i upgraded to wm5 and still i got this problem maybay i know what the problem is
you all know the backside with the gold coloured antenne (where you can plug a antenne) is broken.
should i sold it good again
maybay you think i am stupid so you don't repley, but i am 14 years old.
and one thing: is it possible that the software causes this problem
I upgrade to to wm5 and my phone say "No Service" too. I upgrade the radio version from 1.10 to 1.19 but continue with "No Service"
but your plug on the backside, is it there or is it also broken off, if not i am glad that the software is the problem
I had the same problem
Hi Guys,
I had the same problem several days ago. Searched this forum, found many have the same problem, posted my question and no reply as others.
Now how did I fixed the problem:
Did a hard reset
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.
I am not sure if this would work for you. But it certainly did fix my "No Service" problem
Thanks
Nazer
no it didn't work for me,
But thanks for your idea
should i try different radio stacks???
EDIT; i tryed them but no service, ****!!!!!!!!
it can be the band how to change the band??
if external antenna connector is missing then no network.
when external antena is connected internal antenna is disconnected, that connector do this inside.
if you can put some photo of that area of pcb maybe can help you.

Hi, my activesync doesn't work, but it is charging...
i tried other USBs and i tried different PCs and same thing happens..
tried to take off the advanced network functionality...
Does anyone have a solution to that? please please help me im begging
Thanks alot in advanced!
anyone???? pleasee??????
go to active sync on the Hermes and delete the old profile. This may work...
Cheers...
tried.. doesnt work.. plus it didnt even work the past couple of roms that i had... i think since i upgraded it from wm6 to wm6.1 i started getting this issue..
any solution????
if trying to connect it to another computer dont work
i would suspect a faulty connector
so how is it possible that its charging??
To charge, all it needs is for the pins carrying voltage to get a connection. (All USB has a 5v current at 500mA, it just uses that to charge).
It could be that one of the data pins used by USB solely for transferring data are damaged or broken (or the connector is broken internally). This is almost impossible to diagnose without the correct tools, so I'm guessing here.
However, my Hermes' USB port has started to 'act up' - it still charges fine, but you have to have the USB cable at juuuust the right angle and you can't move it or touch it at all, otherwise the USB connection disconnects. I suspect either oxidisation on the terminals or a dodgy USB connector - but as long as it charges alright, I can live with that!
you could try cleaning the contacts with a cotton bud and some isopropyl alcohol (surgical spirits - NOT METHO). If there is any buildup on your contacts this will fix it.
Cheers....
Mine has done this many times before, the bloody pc rejects the usb device as unknown. [email protected] frustrating, I go in and delete all stored data about the phone and same on the PC in Active sync, some times works. Try different cables, sounds weird but some work well some are no good, dunn'o why, just does. I would perform a Hard Reset, I have done this once and it fixed it, blows away all your stuff (which should be on your 2Gb min mem card anyway). Good luck, sounds like a Hard Reset is where your headed.
is it possible that its not working since i switched to WM6.1? cuz i dont usually charge my phone through the pc and i just relized it a month ago... so if i switch back to wm6 do you think it would work??
Try this
Try and going to ur Start Menu, and then into Settings,go into the last tab "Connections", now go into the little icon titled USB to PC,and make sure the little box is UNCHECKED...well now that should do the trick

if you would read the first post... where i actually asked the question u would see that i tried that already
but tnx for trying
my 8525 does this from time to time as well, while I've never traced down the exact problem, a soft-reset almost always fixes it (I'm not saying you haven't soft-reset, it's just how I fix mine).
It likely has something to do with memory, as it usually happens after I've been using a lot of features (windows live search, outlook, etc.) and haven't reset in several days.
good luck....it is frustrating!
u did not described what it actualy does if you connect it to the pc and what rom are u using
the common problems with wm6.1
uncheck the advanced usb disconnect from pc restart pc
go to active sync on ppc seting - connection uncheck box (allways) check box open `usb close `usb ok reconnect ppc
the wording might be different cause im using right now diff. language
Hello
i´have found this site http://pockethacks.com/boost-wifi-signal-on-your-pocket-pc/.
Does anyone think this will work ?
My problem is that my AP is upstairs (Level 2), my room is on Level 0, with my MDA Pro i get the wifi signal only on the toilet(!), but i want it in my other rooms too.
And i think, if this Hardware Modification will work it will solve my problem.
If it works......what do you think?
thanks for answers
asid
Yes asid, anything that by any means "boost" the signal -in this case by adding extra gain using another antenna- should work, how good? Well, that's another story.
Anyway, I considered myselft the idea of directly change the internal antennas (not just the WiFi oen, but also the GSM and the BT) with another ones made by me with fractal shapes, but I sold my good old uni, so, the rest is history...
Done it and it works very well!
I came across your post and had a little look at the tweak, seemed relativly straight forward and i just so happened to have an old nokia to pull apart for the arial.
The tweak took about 20 mins with the only things to watch out for being:...
the forth torque screw hidden under a tiny red sticker (you will see it! dont worry).
You need a very thin guaged wire as there is very little space inside.
After the tweak i have found a greatly improved wifi range anda lot less signal drop in general.
Well worth it, especially as you dont really need anything more than a t6 screwdriver, a small headed phillips and a very thin wire.
What if we connect the wifi antenna to the headphone socket? So then, if we need a boost to the wifi signal, we will plug in our headsets, and it will be an 1m long wifi antenna? Is that possible?
Is there any risk connecting the antenna to the headphone socket?

the headphone socket is not linked to wifi at all so this won't work.... and another thing is you may short circuit your device by plugging that in....

I was just thinking on connecting one pin of the socket, and the wifi antenna together, with a wire, inside the device.
But if that makes a short circuit, its a bad idea.
Yes it may work.
I remember that originally mobile phones used this method to boost their signal. However, that was soon noted to be a bad idea, as it meant the radio signal was going straight into your ear ! I don't know if wifi is any less worse.
As for short circuit, I would think the worse that would happen is that you'd loose the signal, but the effect would not be permanent once you remove the connection again (however, I obviously cannot guarantee this)
Yea the problem is Uni having wireless b not g so i personally have this problem as some of the new modems are only g and a compatible ......
wish we could change the wifi with the new hardware from newnew phones....
Or i can use sd card with g capabilities but has to compromise with the storage then....

Uni can be made 802.11g compatable (but will not have the g speeds)

is it a hardware change or software... i remember applying some software named wirelesslanbgon which didn't seem to work .....
It's a registry setting, as I was led to believe the Uni is capable of connecting to 802.11g. I thought all ROM builders put it in their ROM. Hold on, I'll see what I can dig up...
Ok, hopefully this will work - you'll still get 802.11b speeds (11 Mbit/s)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TIACXWLN1\PARMS: dot11SupportedRateMask=1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TIACXWLN1\PARMS: dot11SupportedRateMaskG=8
then soft-reset
Let us know if it works (I've got 802.11b router, so can't test it)
Did anyone ever test this to see if it works?
I just bought used Hima through, because I broke LCD screen on mine. And I got it with some old German ROM on it, it's working fine, but I would like something newer and in English. The thing is, that when I put phone in USB craddle, it only charges the device and says that USB Device Not Recognized. I cannot upgrade ROM nor anything else, just charge it. On my previous broken Hima, I had no such problem... Does anyone has clue what is wrong and what is the solution?
Thank you in advance...
I just found out that when I want to sync, I can do it, but have to pull cell phone toward me while it's in craddle. But doesn't work when I want to flash ROM. So I guess it's pins problem. I looked them and don't see anything bad, anyone has clue what to do?
OK, I finally managed to install ROM, I had to stick something to push forward my Hima in cradle. Does anyone know what can I do to fix that problem? It's the pins connection problem...
first of all..i don't understand why you started a new topic on this problem because THERE IS ANOTHER TOPIC WITH THIS PROBLEM JUST 3 LINES DOWN AFTER YOUR TOPIC...if you had read but didn't......about the conectivity problem with the pins cradle usb cable and advanced functionality of the usb-pc function..and thath it works just for the charge and for standard conectivity is says device mailfunction...
Because I had german windows 2003 that had no advanced functionality of the usb-pc connection! And also I didn't see too many similarities with those posts which aren't three lines down after my topic.
I changed 2 craddles and also had same problems. But I managed to access PPC when I gave some pressure on cell phone while in cradle...
I have another broken Hima (LCD screen broken), and wondered if I could take his connector?!
Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions to ask all of you great phone gurus
**If this is the wrong forum for this sort of thread, I apologize in advance**
Basically I have ruined the USB connection on my Touch Cruise. I am wanting to know if there is any way I can access my files on the phone by having it connected to my wireless network at home (ie a program or something I can run on my PC.) Reason I ask is I am trying to edit the HTC weather Plugin to show my location (Lebanon, OH, USA) and it is quite hard/impossible to do using the phone alone.
Second question is, is it possible to replace a damaged USB connector? I know it is probably ruined but I figure it might be worth a try. I had attempted to hook up my front USB header on my motherboard, but plugged them in backwards. I managed to salvage the phone by removing the actual USB piece from the phone and pulling the wires out. Luckily I am still able to use the phone (nothing else besides the USB connector is messed up) by purchasing an external battery charger + battery.
I know these are probably both a shot in the dark but any help anyone could provide would be GREATLY appreciated.
You can sync via bluetooth if you have it on your computer, or wifi search in google for that (ex: http://wifi.aximsite.com/sync.html)
I tought replace it will be very hard .
just out of curiosity could you please give us some screenshots as i'm having a real hard time understanding what you did and how it looks now? ^^
using bluetooth will help and maybe a card reader + microSD might speed things up. find a good file manager for WinMO
i doubt that there is any way to acces phones files through wireles so bluetooth is the only wireless (and supported) way
I don't have a camera currently but just look at your USB connection on your phone then imagine that there is absolutely nothing in it. It is just an empty 'rectangle'. No wires or the little horizontal piece that normally sits in there. Just an empty 'rectangle.'
Thanks for the replies. I am trying the wireless sync now.
Thanks a bunch
Hi
I became the owner of unknown Elf. I know only this one was purchased on eBay then bricked by flashing incompatible firmware.
Today the Elf switching on and i can see the welcome screen only. When i connect the pda to my computer Activesync try to recognize, but can't obtain IP address (tried all the found Activesync IP address solutions, but no way). When i try to enter to bootloader (Camera + Reset) or make a hard reset (Red+Green+Reset) , i see the same welcome screen.
When the powersupply connected lights the blue led and Reg and Green buttons. When connected to the switched off, charging accumulator animation appears.
I tried to find JTAG contacts how read on pda2u forum, but no way too. No contacts in the place because the PCB is different (See atachments), but OMAP 850 onboard.
Anybody knows where can be JTAG pins on this board?
What i can do more to debrick?
You sure this was from a genuine HTC? Did you remove the stickers on the board?
Looks odd compared to the HTC Touchs I have....
Thank you for your reply, captainstu72.
I think, is not original, regarding Dopod site shortcuts in the firmware. But i obtained this PDA w/o any stickers, the glue only.
I reanimated this PDA by finding Hard reset combination (Green+Ok+Reset) but can't enter to the bootloader (not shortcuts [Camera+reset; ], nor EnterBootloader.exe does not works for this device)
As thats the case (the HTC shortcuts not working) I would suggest this is a clone.
You can trace the JTAG points yourself, it should just be a case of finding what pin out is what on the omap chip, and finding where it ends up. There should be a fair few bits on the internets about this, however, can take a bit of searching from my history with JTAG.
If you do it successfully, please bear in mind you will need to use the firmware for that phone, and the ELF firmware would not necessarily work.
I do find it odd you were given a phone with no stickers and not working. I'd say its stolen, as you have no way to check the IMEI now....
