Resco explorer will certainly let you do this as will Total Commander. Novii remote is a pretty good IR controller software.
As far as tips etc there are about 10000 of them. Check out the WIKI and search for the threads there are dozens of them.

cheers will do.

also, does anyone know if its possible to change the bluetooth software to enable me to send files over bluetooth?

the native (comes with it) software will enable you to send file over bt. just use the 'beam file', it will let you select bluetooth to send file.

ahh cheers i also misread the first post, the guy sugested some there too... ok so i solved the problem with b/t with u guys help, cheers. now to find a remote software that actually works with this model, any1 out there who has sucessfully used any software and what sort of distance did you get from it?

Need Advise from Experts

Guys,
I need your expert advise on this. I'm a newbie for XDA products, all of 'em. Previously I used two gadgets, mobile phone & PDA. Seeing the new magician form factor really encourage me to buy one of this beside, I think this magician will help me in saving more pockets by combining those 2 gadgets. However, I don't want to take wrong action when buying this product. I need all guidance I can get on this.
Currently, in my country, its more easy to find O2 XDA II Mini. I guess T mobile, i-Mate, and Q-Tek will not be here for the time being, so please XDA Mini users, help me. Here are my questions:
1. What is the ideal ROM versions when I'm about to test the product, I mean all ROMS include the ROM Radio, Ext ROM, etc?
2. Beside package content, what else should I need to check from the product?
3. What kind of programs that suits best with XDA II mini? I'm not really into game. Music & movies are more preferable and also some Personal Management apps (this one is the most essential) - Currently I used Pocket Informant to manage my Tasks & Schedules.
4. I saw a topics mentioning about audio probs, Is it hardware or software issues? Do you think I should ask the seller to open some package and test each of them?....Forget it, they won't let me anyway  !
What else guys? help me please? Oh and don't forget to reccomend best apps and its version that getting along very well with XDA mini OS
Thanks
PS: Pardon me if my english is very unstructured.
Anyone? Please help?
I guess no one want to help me anyway....
Oh well.... anyway thanks for reading this thread guys
If it is easier to get local support for one of the devices where you live - I would suggest you go for that one.

I don't understand question 1.
2. Check that it's working.
3. You can download lots of free programs.
If you don't want audio issues, buy the MDA Compact from T-Mobile Germany. It's unlocked unlike T-Mobile Netherlands.
Thanks Guys for replying
Now I know why no one replies, my english is really bad huh?
Question no. 1, I mean you guys know much about ROM version, I want to know the best version, does anyone can share their XDA mini ROM version?
Question No 2, I know I should check is it working or not, but I mean should I do specific checking apart than try the phone, check the ROM, check the sound, camera, what else. If that's all I need to do than that will be fine.
Question No. 3, I heard that windows 2003 SE don't have high compatibility with regular windows mobile 2003, Could someone shares their experience what will work on XDA and what not? Or is there some apps that I should avoid in installing to a PDA? I'm a newbie, if anything happened to my XDA, I'dont know what to do except send it to service centre
Question No.4, My country only have XDA Mini right now and it comes unlock ( most phones in Indonesia are unlocked) Is the audio issue only happened with MDA or almost all magician?
Thanks for those who want to reply. Also thanks for those who opened this thread, sorry if I'm bothering you guys, I'm just a newbie who seeks for enlightment from experts
Thanks

As far as I know, there's no sound problem with the MDA Compact.
Also, I think the best ROM is the T-Mobile ROM.
If anything goes wrong after installing a program, do a soft reset.
If it's still bad, uninstall the program and do a soft reset.

Key logger

has anyone seen a program that will log all keys etc... types on Windows Mobile 5?
I'm looking for a program that works very similar to that on a PC,but i want to use it on the O2 XDA Exec.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
No. There isn't any.
And WHY on EARTH would you want to do that, except for nefarious reasons??
I don't think that particular functionality is something you'll find in any retail-oriented software, so your best bet would be to either research it on your own and attempt to make it, or have someone write it for you. I'm actually quite curious about the possibility of doing it as well, so let us know what you find out about it.

"Win Mobile Smartphone hacks" need your imput for

Hey guys,
I am currently working on an article for a huge computer magazine. The name of the article will be something like "The best hacks for Windows Mobile Smartphone". Yap, i know ... you may now say ... use the search function dude. wink.gif But thats not why i am asking for your help. I know enough hacks to write this article, but i dont know what hacks you guys consider as eminently important.
With hacks I mean stuff like cool registry tweaks (example: moving temp internet files to storage card) or small freeware programs that help you to get most out of ya phone (example: omapclock).
Please help me and tell me your favorite hacks. The more, the better. But any help is very much appreciated. smile.gif And if you help me with my article you also help the windows mobile community. Always keep that in mind. wink.gif
there are a few that come to mind ...the registry wizard does a really good job of doing all the tricks for you ...as well as the unlocked program. I guess the best hack if u want to call it that is enableing 802.11g on the wizard ...atleast thats what it was for me ....
BTW which magazine you plan to write this for ...2600 ?
i think the most important one has to be the custom roms available here. other than that one it would have to be overclocking, sim and cid unlocking, and bluetooth headset
yeah bigdooky your right ...I forgot about those thx

Browse computer files through hermes ???

Sorry in advance if this question has been previously posted, i have been trying to search for an answer but no luck, i used search and i read the heading of almost every post in this website....
Well anyway I am trying to browse my homes wireless network shared folders throught my hermes, model dopod 838 pro bought in australia with 3 hutchingson, settings.
I love my phone but it have been exploring it for weeks now trying to see how i would do this, but cant find anything, there are a lot of networking stuff available in the phone which i dont understand so maybe i missed the spot???
I was thinking though that if i was able to do this, it would be through file explorer.
anyone can point me in the rght direction ?
Thank you in advance.
AFAIK, the hermes cannot do this 'out of the box'. If you install Resco file Explorer it does have this capability though.

does anyone know how to do this over a vpn? resco doesn't seem to work
Any other programs ?
i have installed resco suite and am using it now... but it is not free, the price isnt that much really but before i buy anything i would like to know if there are any others which wuld do the job that i can trial ??? also a little bit lighter ???
