I've recently switched to using a Bluetooth headset (Nokia HS12W) and after installing the A2DP patch it all works very nicely, except that I cannot get the AVRCP to work.
I'm using Pocket Player 2.8 with which I get great stereo (no dropouts / skipping etc.), and the music resumes after a phone call, however the remote features simply do not work. I've installed the gen_wmhost.dll from Conduits, however when I go to configure the plugin it says "No WM Plugins found".
I've since tried using WMP 10 on its own and I have exactly the same problem, If I press the pause button on the headset, it pauses for c. 5 seconds and then resumes, and the forwards / backwards buttons have no effect at all.
I assumed I'd be able to get the missing files from a backup (I use SPB backup) but that doesn't appear to include the Windows specific files. So I tried a hard reset, and then a re-install of the latest backup but I was left in exactly the same state as before. I've had a search on the web to see if I could track down a cab file, but without joy.
So.... does anyone know where I can get the WMP 10 files so I can re-install it on top of my latest configuration and hopefully get my missing WMP AVRCP plugins?
Thanks in advance

iv jus upgraded to the XDA II, Himalaya, and i was wondering if you people knew of any mpe playing software that allows the screen to be turned off during playback other than pocket divx.
i did use that on my original XDA but it no longer plays any type of audio file when i have attempted to use it on my XDA II, mp3's or audio from within mpeg's or dixv's. im not sure why?

NoteM (zavorine.net) - free mp3 voice recorder and player with LCD switch off feature. Actually I used it with PPC2002, but when upgraded to WM2003 the feature is failing to do what it should (I have MDA I).
PS: experience troubles with DivX, too!
By the way, WMplayer9 can play mp3's!

as stated windows mediaplayer support screen togle
and so does the player i use which is winampaq
PocketMusic does everything
I use the free version of the PPC PocketMusic from http://www.pocketmind.com. It does everything I need. Allows the screen to be blanked. Has an equaliser. Mutes when an incoming call arrives and restarts automatically when the call is finished. Can be made to look like WinAmp if you prefer that interface. And can use PocketMusic skins or any WinAmp skin already out there.
Definitely recommend the product.
Pocket DivX on XDA II
Just an afterthought regarding the DivX player. Is it PocketMVP you are talking about? If so, did you choose to install the ATI drivers it suggests it has detected? I read somewhere else (not this forum) you shouldn't install these drivers as they cause more problems than resolve. I have PocketMVP installed without these ATI drivers and it works OK for MP3s and AVIs.

i dont think it's the player which handle that but the xda itself
at least i've never come across any program video or audio which dident do that
thanks people
hey, i downloaded that pocket music but now im having problems with that.
First up it doesn't appear in the progams list nor can i add it the the menu.,
Then when i start it it comes up immediately with a message sayin my feature pack has expired when its only just installed?
To top this i cant find the Device code that the read-me mentions, the feature pack pop up seems to be blocking it.
any ideas??
I didn't install the Feature Pack initially. I used PocketMusic on the Smartphone before getting my XDA II so knew everything it could do already. I am more than happy with the free version without any of the feature pack additions (I already paid for the version on my smartphone so think I've done my bit for their funds). Try uninstalling all the PocketMusic software and then re-install ensuring you uncheck the Feature Pack option. I think when you first start PocketMusic it tells you your device code, which you then type into a page on PocketMind.com, which then gives you a reg code.
I did install the trial version feature pack after successfully installing PocketMusic initially and didn't have any problems. I downloaded the separate file from http://www.pocketmind.com/pmfp.htm. I like some of the extras, but I've duplicated some of them using mapped buttons etc. The free version is fine for what I need.
Anyone using mort player and have problems? I've had a lot of trouble. Tried several recent test versions, they all seem to crash frequently, or they lose my place in audio books or a song is playing and the mort player interface won't show up so I can't hit stop/play. For some reason older "released" versions won't re-install on my wizard/8125.
Anyone know a better player for listening to audiobooks?
Is there an update to WMP for WM5 yet? I don't mind it except for a few things...
1) it forgets where I was at within a track (required for audio books to keep place) and what track/playlist I was listening to last
2) nice if the onscreen back button wasn't needed (left click should go back)
3) it should remember to use storage card as my default media location instead of switching back to ram
tcmp can do this i believe info here
Hey, I read in other threads that NoteM audio recording software worked in Windows Mobile 5.0 (WM5). All I could find was NoteM 1.21, which said it was for Pocket PC (PPC) 2003. So I downloaded it and installed the CAB on my Cingular 8525 (Hermes). It installed fine, but everytime I try to record something, it freezes. The only buttons that work are the PTT and Power buttons. I have to power it down and power it up again to bring back functionality. The recorded mp3 file is empty (0 bytes). I have the ROM 1.34.502.1 (the latest standard Cingular ROM).
Has anyone else had this problem/bug/issue? Is there another free mp3 audio recorder that works on WM5?
Here are some threads that say it works on axims and wizards:

I am looking for some audio controls for WMP and Volume for my today screen on my Wizard.
I already have a WMP plugin which I'm fairly happy with, only problem is it lacks a volume control. I don't like to use the main volume as it only works in 20% jumps and I don't have a volume level on my headphones.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Audio manager plugin that selects WMP or HTC Audio Manager
In response to my request, JJ has created a HTC audio manager plug-in that allows you to select between WMP or HTC audio manager. I'm attaching the rapidshare link so that you may have it. To configure goto SYSTEM-->TODAY and you can configure the audio plug to play either from WMP or HTC Audio manager. It's been tested by JJ and works fine. At this moment, this has only been tested on the Hermes running WM6 shadow, but should work on other wm6 devices since it's just a simple cab.
DPAD usage is enabled: middle button = play/pause, left/right = track seek.
the only thing is u cannot control volume through the plugin (this is where your PPC profile app comes in handy)
For those of you who perferfer WMP as you player, I've comprised a list of known audio today's plugins. Their names are:
1.mmram HTC WMP TodayPlug.cab
2. SpbToPlay[1].arm.cab
3. WMP_TodayPlugin.CAB
They were found over on XDA. Feel free to search for them.
Here's the link . Please do not upload this file to 4mobiles download site

I just had a look at SPB to Play. It, seemingly, dies exactly what I want. Only problem is it doesn't seem to be linked to WMP. I can't set up a playlist it just starts from the first track in the library and loads them all :S
I've had a look and apparently it doesn't work with WM5.
Anyone know what it should do whan functioning correctly? Anyone know how to link it to WMP?
If you want a good sound quality with equalizers and lesson to music on your stereo Bluetooth headset, you can't rely on windows media player or HTC audiomanager. So far I tried all of the music player software on my HD2 but I wasn't satisfied with any of them. Previously I used the PocketPlayer 4.1 on my HD and that was really amazing, but when I changed my PDA to HD2, I really disappointed because I couldn’t control the playback with my Bluetooth headset. As you know the Option menu of pocketplayer cannot changed on winmo 6.5; therefore, if you want to change the setting, you must do it through the registry.
If you want to use this software as your music player and control it via your Bluetooth headset you can follow these steps:
1- Disable the HTC audiomanager (disable the music tab on manilla).
2- Install PocketPlayer 4.1.
3- Execute the application and go to Menu->More->Options and select the Plugins tab.
4- Touch "Update now" link and install the Conduits WM Adapter (your phone must be connected to the Internet).
5- Exit the software through the Menu (Not the X button) after the plugin is installed.
6- Go to registry HKCU->Software->Conduits->Pocket Player->Plugins->gen_wmhostand and change the entry {B71FB....} from 0 to 1.
7- Save the changes and soft reset.
That’s all. Please note that if you open the windows media player, it override the Bluetooth control. So, to use this tweak you must not run the media player.
I've been using the PocketPlayer since yesterday and the sound quality and volume is much better than the media player and audiomanager. Also, it is pretty satisfiable than my previous HD.
of course you can change the options of conduits pocket player on winmo 6.5.
Just go to the options tab, double-tap the option you want to change, open the keyboard and tap on ENTER.

Sorry my bad. I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip.
Just installed CPP 4 and it literally slowed my device to a snails place; had to reset (which took a couple of minutes to enable!)
I am considering buying HD2 and use Pocket Player everyday.
I would be grateful if people can answer a few questions:
- The method provided above (using the keyboard to access menus) work for any menu function? Including Options?
- If so, were you able to assign buttons for functions? I use a lot "back 10 seconds" and "play/pause" and would like to assign them for the "arrow" button or "windows" button (as ther is no media button on the device). Is this possible?
- considering slowing down the device, is it everyone's experience? Did you try installing to SD card (worked with me on Kaiser, despite some random slow downs)?
Thanks so much.
