I am looking for some audio controls for WMP and Volume for my today screen on my Wizard.
I already have a WMP plugin which I'm fairly happy with, only problem is it lacks a volume control. I don't like to use the main volume as it only works in 20% jumps and I don't have a volume level on my headphones.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Audio manager plugin that selects WMP or HTC Audio Manager
In response to my request, JJ has created a HTC audio manager plug-in that allows you to select between WMP or HTC audio manager. I'm attaching the rapidshare link so that you may have it. To configure goto SYSTEM-->TODAY and you can configure the audio plug to play either from WMP or HTC Audio manager. It's been tested by JJ and works fine. At this moment, this has only been tested on the Hermes running WM6 shadow, but should work on other wm6 devices since it's just a simple cab.
DPAD usage is enabled: middle button = play/pause, left/right = track seek.
the only thing is u cannot control volume through the plugin (this is where your PPC profile app comes in handy)
For those of you who perferfer WMP as you player, I've comprised a list of known audio today's plugins. Their names are:
1.mmram HTC WMP TodayPlug.cab
2. SpbToPlay[1].arm.cab
3. WMP_TodayPlugin.CAB
They were found over on XDA. Feel free to search for them.
Here's the link . Please do not upload this file to 4mobiles download site

Cheers and Enjoy
ALL CREDIT GOES TO raja_1. I'm just a thread pusher!!!
I just had a look at SPB to Play. It, seemingly, dies exactly what I want. Only problem is it doesn't seem to be linked to WMP. I can't set up a playlist it just starts from the first track in the library and loads them all :S
I've had a look and apparently it doesn't work with WM5.
Anyone know what it should do whan functioning correctly? Anyone know how to link it to WMP?

Does anyone know of a Windows Media Player plugin for the today screen that works with version 10 of WMP. THe PHM plugin doesn't work with 10. Also I tried other programs like pocket music but they have bad integration with the operating system and voice command.
Thanks,
Daniel
Here it is...
WMP 10 plugin like IPOD with today screen plugin and portuguese operators configuration. If you do noy need install the 3 operators cab...inside
Thanks- I installed the .CAb but the today plugin only says "Play media files"- is it supposed to have controls- like Play, Stop , Next etc...
The Today Screen plugin opens WMP 10 with a IPOD Screen and on the screen, on the sides you have BIG controls that you can use .
I was looking for a plugin that allows you to control WMP from the today screen. Thanks anyway- also- i have a better Ipod skin that I uploaded here:
I accidently ran the optimus /cab and now my connections are screwed up-
how do I remove it?

Good find, thanks
Why don't you give mortplayer a try, the today plugin for is is great
I have to say that anything that's not WMP just isn't good for the pocket pc (in my opinion) because of the lack of integration with the OS. For example, when I get a call it stops my music, then when i'm finished it resumes playing. As far as I know only WMP does this. Also, all the other players are too fancy for me- I don't need all those controls- just Play,Pause, Volume, and Next/previous track.
Although- does anyone know how to map other buttons. When I try to map other buttons besides the 5 "joystick" buttons it goes to that function. For example, if I choose mute and press "assign" and then press the contacts button- it switches me to my contacts. Same thing for my camera, phone, calander etc...
Any ideas??
Thanks!
ps- I love the iPod skin too!! I got it a while ago and can't find it anymore due to copyright issues. Good thing I saved it on my HD!
I actually found a newer version while seeing if what I wrote was true-
Here you go!
Hi, I just bought a HTC P3600 (S300+) everything works fine so far. My question is: can it be possible to turn off the screen while windows media player is playing some mp3s, I’m kind of new with this device, I looked on the wmp options and at the system setting but I didn’t find anything, i thing it’s useless to have the screen turned on using the battery if you are listen some music and the device is in your pocket!
Cheers!
Just try another program like Mortplayer or GsPlayer. They all seem to support this feature...
You could use Xbar and assign turn off screen to a button.
Check this thread:

Great WMP tip!
Not many keys are available to be assigned (beside directional pad) but I just figured out I could use "HOLD down" and "HOLD up" as key assignments.
Maybe Im the only one to miss that !?
Yes! Thanks for your answers, i did the "hold down" tip, is great!
i also tryed the GsPlayer and Mortplayer, they work fine, the probleme is that i sync my music with wmp on my pc and all music is reencoded in .wma (it's not so bad i can save place when my mp3 are supirior to 160kbps) maby i try another way to sync so i can use GsPlayer cz it look fine.
well, thx again!
I use VJEschaton screenoff / screentoggle to switch off my screen when listening to Carla Bruni

Hi, I have HTC Home6 plugin, along with HTC audio manager 1.02 installed.
However, the button on home plugin (back, play, fwd) does not work.
I have to actually open htc audio manager in order to play the songs. Did I miss something?
Also, can HTC audio manager sorts songlist by title?
or display chinese/japanese fonts in playlist?
When you use the tab to open your player - what player does it open?
If it opens WMP (which mine did by default) you need to edit the registry and change WMP to Audio manager. Wait a bit, turn the pda off the soft reset.
*I think* it's HKLM\Software\HTC\Music Plug-in\ and there is a value in there which needs to be changed from 1 to 2.
Values:
1 = WMP
2 = Audio Manager
Yes, but he means the buttons on the HTC Home player do not work, which is true.
I found you need to actually open the HTC player, start playing a song or playlist, THEN minimise (while its still playing) it and you can control it from the HTC Home plugin.
How can i edit registry? Do i need to type regedit somewhere like in windows?

You need to install a registry editor. PHM Registry Editor is a very popular one and is free.
As I said above, changing that registry entry will only change the default media player. It WONT solve your problem.
well i think this is no problem, but the plugin is created to work like that, you have to launch the player then press ok button(the hardware one) to minimize and then control it trough the plugin. The same thing is with WMP today plugin, the plugin does not play the music, it launches WMP

Just think about it briefly. How can Audiomanager / WMP play any song if isn't running? That is a bit weird idea.
Same here xplode. Otherwise how else would you choose what music to start playing?
I only said what I said as I know that the control don't work for me IF I use WMP. If I use the audio manager the controls are fine once I've set it playing.

I think you need to re-read my post...this DOES work...you start the media player then MINIMISE it (not close it) and the plugin controls will be working...So I think you may need to think about it briefly...
I have the problem to
If i click on launch music wmp starts. but if wmp plays a song and i minimize wmp the plugin control doesnt work no title song or play or pauze.
You need to re-assign the HTC music player to HTC Audio manager for the buttons to work.
There's a HTC Home customizer floating around somewhere in the forum.

I wonder I got something wrong audiomanager version. Please give the good audiomanager version for me to get link. Thanks to read this post.
wakhoma:
Mine is HTC Audio Manager 1.02 inside cabs.rar from Helmi.

Sorry. I haven't noticed I quoted wrong post. It was a reaction to the first one.
Hi biohead. Do you know the registry setting where I can change the default message application when i click on the message on the HTC Home. If I click on the envelope it points me to the MMS application instead of the outlook mail. Please help.

Another reason
I known the reason why my device stopped all and no sound when using audio manager 1.02. Audio manager does not support 4GB SD card (Trancend economy). When I exchange it with my friend (his device uses 1GB SD card), the problem does not happen. Otherwise he use my SD card, he got the same problem as I did.
Hope, this post would be helpful for someone. Thanks

Sorry madam, I DID read your post, you should read ours, NO it does NOT work, I m listening the music and the HTC Home plugin says Launch Music Player, any way to edit the registry or another way to make this work? Thank you
If you want a good sound quality with equalizers and lesson to music on your stereo Bluetooth headset, you can't rely on windows media player or HTC audiomanager. So far I tried all of the music player software on my HD2 but I wasn't satisfied with any of them. Previously I used the PocketPlayer 4.1 on my HD and that was really amazing, but when I changed my PDA to HD2, I really disappointed because I couldn’t control the playback with my Bluetooth headset. As you know the Option menu of pocketplayer cannot changed on winmo 6.5; therefore, if you want to change the setting, you must do it through the registry.
If you want to use this software as your music player and control it via your Bluetooth headset you can follow these steps:
1- Disable the HTC audiomanager (disable the music tab on manilla).
2- Install PocketPlayer 4.1.
3- Execute the application and go to Menu->More->Options and select the Plugins tab.
4- Touch "Update now" link and install the Conduits WM Adapter (your phone must be connected to the Internet).
5- Exit the software through the Menu (Not the X button) after the plugin is installed.
6- Go to registry HKCU->Software->Conduits->Pocket Player->Plugins->gen_wmhostand and change the entry {B71FB....} from 0 to 1.
7- Save the changes and soft reset.
That’s all. Please note that if you open the windows media player, it override the Bluetooth control. So, to use this tweak you must not run the media player.
I've been using the PocketPlayer since yesterday and the sound quality and volume is much better than the media player and audiomanager. Also, it is pretty satisfiable than my previous HD.
of course you can change the options of conduits pocket player on winmo 6.5.
Just go to the options tab, double-tap the option you want to change, open the keyboard and tap on ENTER.

Sorry my bad. I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip.
Just installed CPP 4 and it literally slowed my device to a snails place; had to reset (which took a couple of minutes to enable!)
I am considering buying HD2 and use Pocket Player everyday.
I would be grateful if people can answer a few questions:
- The method provided above (using the keyboard to access menus) work for any menu function? Including Options?
- If so, were you able to assign buttons for functions? I use a lot "back 10 seconds" and "play/pause" and would like to assign them for the "arrow" button or "windows" button (as ther is no media button on the device). Is this possible?
- considering slowing down the device, is it everyone's experience? Did you try installing to SD card (worked with me on Kaiser, despite some random slow downs)?
Thanks so much.
Hi guys,
I really hope you can help me!
I have finally found me a decent music player - Pocket Player. Now my problem just is that the volume only has the 5 steps that the phone offers when using the hardware buttons. Is there a way to "activate" the volume control from the audio booster when using the Pocket Player? Or any other volume control with smaller steps than 20%?
Thanks in advance - and a happy new year!

If you open the volume "page" (by pressing one of the volume buttons), you can change the volume on screen by sliding your finger up and down. It's still quite large increments, but a lot smoother than just using the buttons alone.
And a happy new year to you too
True, thanks. But it is still 20% steps. The AudioBooster has 7% steps. I have tried some add-on volume controls but they either don't work or still has the large steps.
Maybe it is possible to let the AudioBooster control the volume when using Pocket Player or other players - the HTC Music Player does, right??

It's not 20% - each of the 15 bars is a volume level, so they're about 6(ish)% each. I can set the volume on mine like this, and have done on my last 3 HTC phones.
Oh, now I get it. You're right. That will work, but not excactly easy "on the run". Maybe it's possible to make the volume button do one line and not 3-4 at a time?!

Yeah, that would be a much better solution, but at least there's a "fix" until some friendly dev makes something to replace it
Now I found a solution:
Got the class name for Pocket Player, which is "Pocket Player" - used the program GetClass.zip from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581137
Created a string reg key called "ClassName" in:
HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\3rdPartyAPClass\Pocket\
with the value: "Pocket Player" (the previously mentioned class name).
Now I have the same volume control as in WMPlayer and HTC Music Player...

I'm trying to replicate this with CorePlayer, but there isn't natively a CP folder in the 3rdPartyAPClass. I created the string reg key in the root of the 3rdPartyAPClass but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Sorry, was being stupid. I didn't add it as a key. Anyway got it added but it doesn't seem to work. I tried Nitrogen as well and that didn't seem to work. Has anyone else managed to get this registry hack working?
EDIT 2: Got Coreplayer working. Once I unticked use system volume in advanced preferences all was good. Nitrogen still isn't working however. Ideas??
