My XDA2s it set up in the normal way, i have changed one of the WiFi setting so i can do Activesync at home with my laptop over WiFi.
My problem is when i am out i turn on the WiFi then turn on WiFiFoFum and when it finds a unsecure network i hold the stylus on the line displaying the details of the found network and click connect. But it never connects.
if i close WiFiFoFum then wait for the normall PPC program to tel me about a connection. I can connect fine. i have tried this with the standard PPC program set to "connect to unsecure networks automatically" and do not connect automatically. but i have tried to connect using WiFoFoFum but never can.
I know how stupid all this sound but can someone pleae let me know what setting they use and typically how they would connect to a network they found using WiiFoFum
Thanks
John
It doesn't sound stupid. I have the exact same problem. At work theres two networks, on open without wep and another with wep where i dont have the key. The phone keep connecting to the the wrong network all the time. Wififofum is unable to connect to another network for me.
My workaround is to turn off wlan and retry. If that doesnt work I have to restart the phone.
Hi,
I have a wifi conection at home. I will try to explain this as clear as possible:
1) I turn on the Wizard. (OFF -> ON) Not from Sleep mode.
2) Configure the wifi conection: "SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter". I put the parameters MANUALLY: IP, DNS, PROXY ...
3) I turn ON the wifi thru the comm manager. 10 secs later it has connected my home wifi.
4) I open IE and no problem. I can surf ok the web!!!
Then I go to a friend's house. He also has wifi conexion , so I manage to connect an check the mail.
So, he doesn't have the same settings as I do at home. I do this:
1) Configure the wifi conection: "SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter". I put the parameters to DHCP or MANUALLY again but with another IP (my friends wifi settings)
2) When I click OK a message prompts saying something like "This changes will have effect the next time you plug out and in the device" ... but I can't plug out the SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter ...
3) No matters. I try. I go again to the comm manager and turn on the wifi.
4) I can see my friends network, so I connect to it. It has established the connection without problems.
5) I open IE and ... it doesn't show me google!!! I try again ... nothing.
So ... I can't plug in and out the Wireless Adapter, what can I do? Let's try to turn off the wizard and turn it on again ...
I turn it off (not sleep mode) and the on again.
I DON'T touch the configuration and go directly to the comm manager and turn on the wifi. I wait a few seconds and now I go to the IE and check if I can connect to google ... and I CAN!!!
What the hell is going on?? Is there any other way to change the settings and don't have to turn off and on the wizard to take effect...???
Thanks for the help!!

I went to settings>connections>wifi Utility>Menu>Turn On Wifi but it just shows satuts as Wifioff. I checked in Menu>about and it shows Driver Version: Wifi not enabled, Firmware Version: Wifi not enabled, Mac Address: Wifi not enabled.
I am using the latest ROM Official update. What could be the problem? Is there any tweak to solve this problem. Please assist someone.

Wifi OFF Will not turn on
I tired it but it would not turn on. I can turn on and off the radio or the bluetooth but the wireless. Would not go on. So I tired through Settings as mentioned before but that too does not help. Please tell me what I can do?
1. Run selftest, to be sure, that it isn't hardware problem
2. Try HARD RESET
In your notebook configure wireless software to Ad Roc, default is infrastructure
I tired Self Diagnostic and the WLAN Module Test Detected a Mac Addr: 02-02-b3-92-a8-c4. Then I reset and then tried to turn it on but does not turn on.
I checked my computer settings and it is set to Ad-Hoc. :?
Please someone assist me
I have noted one thing for sure that when I am away from my computer and have checked the wireless Manager shows the Wifi: Off.
When I click Menu > Wi-fi Settings it goes to creating a new profile. But when I am close to this laptop I want to connect to the profile page does not show. :!: :!:
WHY is this happening :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
SOLUTION to WIFI Problem In O2 Atom
I had tremendous problems with my O2 WIFI which would not connect to my laptop WIFI LAN Network. I asked O2 People & Lot of people on this and other forum but got no perfect response.
Practically trying many options I by chance put back the old ROM upgrade of O2 2006123-45 and tried switching on the WIFI and lo and behold it worked fine.
Then I reload the new ROM 20060426 again and it works fine.
This proves that if you reload the NEW Upgrade ROM more than once it locks the WIFI.
Wi-fi Shut-off when we do the first activesync.
I tried closing all programs by going to settings => memory => running programs => close all.
After that I did the soft reset and started the process "Start => Settings => Connections => WiFi Utility => Menu => Turn on WiFi.
Menu => Jump to Network Cards 3. Under Wireless, select your desired network. (If your network is hidden, kindly tap on "Add New")
Enter your network name (if needed), proceed to Network Key.
Select your Authentication, Data Encryption type and your Network key.
Proceed to 802.1x if needed (it is usually disabled)
Tap on Ok, go to Network Adapters => O2 Wi-Fi Wireless Adapter
Configure your IP and Name Server if needed. (If your network allows automatic assign, you might want to exclude this portion)
Tap on Ok, Ok. Proceed to WiFi Status, check if the status is Connected and IP Address is obtained.
Kindly try to use Internet Explorer to surf the internet"
and started the Wi-fi but it would not go on it showed Wi-fi off instead of the routine radio off.
When if went to Wi-fi => about. It showed Driver: Wi-fi not enabled, Firmware Version: Wi-fi not enabled, MAC Address: Wi-fi not enabled.
I tried the hard reset also yet the Wi-fi would not turn on.
So I reinstalled latest version 20060426-mot0822 of the Atom and before I did activesync I ran the Wi-fi and it worked well . After the first Activesync the same problem started.
For Activesync I am using the new version 4.5.0, Build 5059, Beta taken from the Microsoft site where it has the facility to keep on the Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop yet the Wi-fi switches off.
There seems to be a problem with you software and your technical department needs to study it deeply and provide a suitable solution for it
Will it be the same if we will to connect to the internet in a hotspot area???
Dude i had the same problem..use the wi fi companion program i got off the net (illegal srry cant post it here)..it has fixed all my wi fi problem.
pocket msn

Wifi doesnt work if you are using the usb port as it will connect to your computer. I guess that is the problem for you?
I have a problem with my Cingular 8125.
I can connect to my wep-enabled wireless router at home and get internet access. I can connect to the internet via edge using a cell call. But I can not connect to an open wifi source.
Under Network Managment -- Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using: I setup a connection that I named "wifi only", and under proxy settings I checked "This network connects to the internet".
Under Network Managment -- Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using: My ISP
What more do I need to do here to make this thing connect to a simple open wifi source?
Thanks for any suggestions.
First of:
Does the device connect to the 'open WiFi source' (the icon with the antenna and two little arrows appears in the task bar)?
Second are you sure the source is open? Some networks filter devices by MAC address. The network will appear as open but will not let you connect unless your MAC is registered.
Finally try this:
under Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using: select 'My ISP' and select this network connects to: 'the internet'.
I finally gave up and cleared everything (for the third time) and it connects to open wireless networks like it's supposed to. I don't know what the problem was, but it's fine now.
Thanks for the reply.
I hav GPRS enable on my phone and at my home i have a WiFi
So when i connect to the internet from my phone when i am at home it always connects using GPRS but i want to connect it through Wifi when i am at home...Is there any optio through which i can select as to how i want to connect to the internet i.e. either by GPRS or Wifi??
Plz help
disconnect your gprs connection just clikc on the Edge Icon on the top bar and then and disconnect the t-mobile data connection and then manually connect to wifi spot and it shouldnt connect through ur gprs until u want it to
If you have WiFi turned on, it'll automatically try to find a network it can connect you and notify you of the best connection. If it doesn't WiFi may not be on, you can check in the Comm Manager to make sure its on. If it is on, you can click the WiFi icon on the top bar and select your network.
The phone will automatically use Wifi instead of GPRS if WiFi is connected. If it tries to connect through GPRS it is either because WiFi is disabled or WiFi isn't connected to a network.
