Hi
When using the modem driver for XP supplied with my Tytn it seems limited to maximum speed at 230kpbs.
Is there any workaround or better modem drivers to get higher speed?
I've been in contact with HTC support but they where unable to help.
Thanks

I am sorry to say, but your explanations do not make anything clear.
So I am going to explain everything once more.
My questions and my request for help seemed quite simple to me, but I
see that we do not understand each other.
1. I have PowerBook 17" 1GHz with Mac OS X Panther 10.3.8
2. I have Qtek 2020 with Microsoft Pocket PC ver 4.20.0
3. I used the Mark/Space Missing Sync for Pocket PC application
for synchronising
(I bought it via Internet and I am very happy with it)
Now it is uninstalled, as you told me to do, but I really need
synchronisation.
4. I often use PowerBook out of work in places where I do not have
access to Internet.
Before I had the Nokia 6310i mobile phone and via this telephone
I could connect to Internet (wireless connection
in every place within GSM network range). Gprs Nokia modem operated
without any problems, and I could connect with the computer
via bluetooth without any problem. I activatedon the phone I could
establish connection.
5. Unfortunately, Qtek 2020 is a more complex appliance, but has no
such option. In Pocket PC I have Internet (GPRS connect), but not
in the computer
I asked how to solve this problem on numerous forums: Apple and
xda-developers-Forum. Nobody could give me a satisfactory answer.
I was directed to you.
6. I do not have the PocketMac Pro 3.0 application and never installed
it. (no serial No.)
7. I do not have and I am not going to install PocketMac® Lite 3.0.
(no serial No.)
8. PocketMac Pro 3.0 program is ok., but I cannot buy it! I wanted to, but on the
Internet site there was such a message: PocketMac does not sell
PocketMac Pro 3.0 for OS X (10.3) to your country. I was shocked.
Now I do not know what to do - do I need a script or a driver to
the system? I have heard that there is a similar problem with PC computers.
I would like to use Qtek 2020 as a wireless modem connecting my
computer with Internet. It is not possible?
If PocketMac® Pro 3.0 is going to solve my problem, I can buy it and install immediately. I thing not.

I really love Macs

Look at the Hermese Wiki. There is a solution there but I have no clue if it will work on a Prophet. I'd test it myself but I don't have a BT dongle for my laptop.
I saw the wiki page but i didn't find any information about use prophet like a modem in MacOS X.
I tried to configure it and I miss only a driver script.
The system recognize the prophet like a phone but obviously there aren't driver for it in the standard list of modem.
Please help me
Hi i resolved the problem and now I'm surfing with my macbook using prophet like a bt modem.
The connection is very fast!!!!!
You can find here all the information:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251685
or
http://justinblanton.com/2006/01/mac...luetooth-modem
or
http://www.babilim.co.uk/blog/2006/0...687500909.html
you can use this modem script.

That guy is a genius, please make a donation to him.
Now with Mac OsX is possible have any kind of sync with "missing sync" or "Pocket Mac" and use the smartphone like an external modem.
Great!
I used pocketMac with my m500 which worked fine, but that was wm2003. they are beta testing wm2005 now. I applied as I need it now I got an m600. still waiting to get response!
On the website is written "coming soon". In this time you can use missing sync... it works great!
Hi
Using T-Mobile (UK) on the Stirling/Bannockburn transmitter...
Just changed to a Hermes from a Universal because I bought a umpc and no longer needed somet the size of the universal.
On the universal, I was seeing downloads of around 300Kbit/sec and uploads of about 100Kbit
On the Hermes with HSDPA enabled (I assume) I get downloads of between 700 and 1000Kbit/sec with uploads at 300Kbit/sec
Both the above measured with http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed/jisok=1
Pleased --> Yes indeed I am - a worthwhile speed increase
But
When I connect to the hermes via bluetooth from a laptop (using hermes as a modem), I am only seeing 300Kbit (both upstream and downstream). Both devices have bluetooth 2.0 (EDR).
On the universal I used to see the same speeds over bluetooth as on the device its-self (although I realise that my laptop speeds with the hermes exceed my universal speeds!)
Does HSDPA only work when the connection comes from the device its-self (rather than via bluetooth)??
Is there some kind of issue with bluetooth that slows things down? would USB prove to be faster?
The laptop has the option of fitting an HSDPA module, but I never went for this because it would also have meant paying for two contracts!
On the whole, I like the form factor of the hermes and dont really miss the keyboard/screen of the universal esp now I have a umpc.
Only critisism of the hermes would be that its not exactly production quality. Compared to my universal its very buggy. Guess thats just the products immaturity - its certaining no more buggy than my universal was on day 1.
Maybe HTC will eventually replace the universal - I got fed up with waiting and my old contract ended. The chap in the t-mobile shop showed me pics of t-mobiles forthcoming take on the HTC athena (think thats what its called - the one with the detatchable keyboard... but that's hardly a replacement for the universal.
Anyone had any experiences with using hermes on t-mobile (UK) over bluetooth as a modem from a laptop, please reply!

i cant get over 350k using bluetooth to desktop either.
Tytn has bluetooth 2.0,but NO EDR, maybe that is y.
when i use USB to desktop, i can get around 550k.
Hi
Looking at the modems for both USB and Bluetooth, the baud rate appears to be 115,200. In ControlPanel-->Modems.
This is the baud-rate limit for the hardware
If you get up the properties for your dialup account, and look at the modem properties from there, then you can select ~900Kbit. Unfortunately this does not alter the hardware port restrictions.
Of course, the speeds we are seeing are better than is poss over 115,200 anyway...
I find the USB modem thing very hit and miss - it only works properly where there are no other modems present otherwise, if the dial-up account cannot find the usb com port it just changes it to something else.
Other problems I have with the hermes are that sometimes it refuses to connect from the laptop at all (requiring a soft reset). Hopefully a new rom will fix this - this problem did not exist on my trusty universal.

Hi,
want to use my Optus wireless 5gb plan for data on my Atom, works fine with laptop & PC. The wireless modem is a Huawei Brand - Model E220 - HSDPA USB Modem. It has a mini usb connector and i have come across a data transfer cable that has a mini usb at each end... so E220 can connect to Atom.
Q.
1. does anybody know if I can use this setup for data (mini usb to mini usb) similar in function to a WiFi connection?
have plugged the E220 into my Atom but nothing happens (the drivers auto load on PC)
2. any help in the setup would be greatly appreciated
have read the wiki on setting up Atom as Modem but not sure if same steps to set the E220 up as the modem
No you cannot use huawei e220 as a modem
cos atom doesn't have host usb capability
and huawei e220 need to have software installed in the host so its imposibble
Just use your laptop and if you really like the small screen then connect the atom through your cable to laptop and you can browsing through your atom

There is a wiki on using the Atom as a modem... so even after installing the USB drivers that 02 suggest it will still not work?

this was where i thought would have trouble unless the USB drivers as per the wiki would work for the E220

actually want push email on PDA without paying for an extra data plan as better to share 5 Gb a month
Please excuse me if I'm missing the point ...
....But wouldn't it be simpler to simply put the SIM from the E220 into the Atom ?

Hello
I can set the HD2 up as a bluetooth modem for DUN, in both WinXP and Win7.
However, I cannot set it up as a wired modem in either OS. I cannot set up a wired DUN connection, because the system has no modem for it.
I recall with earlier HTC devicess (such as the MDA), they actually had a driver available, that one could use to set up the HTC modem. Does that same driver work on the HD2? Or is there a new one? Where can one get it?
Before someone replies about the other option for wired tethering, Internet Connection Sharing, yes, I know how to do that. I still would like to be able to set up a DUN connection though. Is it possible?
I would like solutions for both WinXP and Win7, whether the same solution for both, or different ones.
