I've read somwhere that Windows Mobile 5 has built-in support for actiing ass a usb mass storage device.
Is this true?
How do I activate it, when connecting to a computer (win xp, win2003, OS X.3)the device gets listed as GENEREIC RNDIS.

You can always try Softick Card Export if you don't succeed.

Sorry,
Try writing an e-mail to the developer, like des did. Maybe it helps.

WM 5.0 as USD Device
What a dream, how nice if WM 5 did support USB devices or memory readers, transfer files from Camera etc without removing cards.
I havce seen 3rd party freeware downloads that allow a pocket pc , magician/universal to act a usb drive from a PC.
Not sure if thats what you mean. Easier than having to go through activesync.
Wish my pda supported usb 2 go for backups.
CE2 is such a product, although not free & the only one I know off. If you found another one & post it you make a lot of people happy.

You're talking about using the Wizard as a mass storage device, rather than using mass storage devices on the client, aren't you?
The Zaurus range can do this, all you need to do is tell the device to act as mass storage. How you enable it on the wizard is beyond my knowledge, but I guess you'll need to either poke in the registry or use some switching software.
It'd be neat if you can do this!
Whats wrong with using Explore under Active sync... or even a short cut to it... I do.
Terran
You need active sync installed and that is not available for OS X or Windows Server 2003 without SP1
Result I can't connect to my computer at work, or my laptop at home.
Only computer willing to sync is my old winxp box which is downgraded from home computer to file and webserver.
Andreas
Don't know what the wizard speeds are, on a magician it's too [email protected] slow!
I also read that it should be possible to use the mda compact II as a mass storage device, without any extra software. But I didn't find the option now...
MAybe they will add it in a later rom-version (I hope so..)
But honestly I don't think they will do this, so we have to hope that
softtick will program it for use

with the Eten M500 it was possible to use it as a USB host, so connecting eg your USB cable from your digital camera directly to your pocket PC. But now, with the new Eten M600 this nice functionality has been lost...
So I think this was a specific device functionality, which was made by Eten for the M500, but I doubt it is a standard WM 5 functionality...

I have managed to network my wizard and my powerbook using the wifi connection quite sucessfully. I can log into my account and access the harddrive volumes. Still can't sink with contacts though.

does anybody know why on htc p3600 (trinity) I can't able to connect from linux via rfcomm? The idea is those that I ever do on all bluetooth phones that I used (nokia and symbian works very well): I want to connect from my laptop to inetrnet by g3 connection from the phone via bluetooth.
So.. the htc p3600 has a serial port on channel 4 so I had configured the rfcomm on linux to connect to the phone... But I can't be able to do nothing...
involved in desperation I compiled and installed SyncCE (the 0.10 that should works on windows mobile 2005) on my proud gentoo
But it don't work......... What's the matter with those bill gates phones? On the phone I have add a in port with protected connection...
solved...
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-564041-highlight-.html
have to run connection sharing on the phone and next use pand to connect to device
rfcomm for dialup isn't supported for this kind pf phone
Anyone has idea how to do activesync with WM6 and windows 98?
Or anyone has other alternative to solve the problem?
My office has windows 98 and i m using cingular 8525 with WM6.
I have tried to use bluetooth dongle, still not yet found the solution even though i have managed to connect the network access but failed to run internet from my pda by using the bluetooth.
Read this:
http://www.modaco.com/content-page/238545/wm5torage/page/480/#entry773770
It is not possible to use Active Sync 4.x with Win98, but using wm5torage (and an usb driver proper, detailed in the page of Modaco) you can connect your pocket as an USB storage.
I hope you find this useful
I have a HP hx2495b PDA running WM6 that I use frequently and keep as a backup device. I am trying to figure out a way to use the data connection of my Moto Q9h and browse the net, check mail, etc. by pairing the two devices. I have searched all over and cannot find a way to do this. Is it possible to pair a WM6 Standard device (smartphone) and a WM6 Professional (PDA)? I thought maybe having the Q host a bluetooth PAN and then allow the PDA to connect to the internet via pass-through somehow, but cannot fiure a way. Any suggestions from the experts here? --- HELP!
Hope the title says everything about my problem. I don't know if it is not the right forum to post.. If it's off-topic, I request the mod to move this to a more appropriate forum.
My specs:
HTC P3452 (ELFIN) using a custom 6.1 ROM(with the default MS BT stack)
Windows XP Professional SP3 using Widcomm BT stack
UTSTARCOM router to connect to the internet.
My problem:
I want to use bluetooth as the primary medium of connection between PC and PPC .
By 'connection'; I only mean efficient file sharing and internet connection sharing (only from PC to PPC; not the other way round; 'cause I don't have a GPRS/EDGE data plan on my PPC)
MS Activesync does both of these (but not very efficiently) , and there are a lot tutorials on how to connect PC and PPC using Bluetooth and then sync them using Activesync. But as everyone knows, being the crappiest software ever Activesync often auto-disconnects, even if the PC and PPC are still connected by bluetooth .
Using the ready-made solutions provided by the Widcomm Software, it's very easy to share files, as the MS stack supports FTP.
The Widcomm software also offers a service named "My network access" and creates a Bluetooth LAN connection on PC; and those were supposed to be able to establish a LAN connection between PC and PPC over Bluetooth, but it doesn't .
(The MS BT stack of Windows Mobile doesn't enable PAN by default. I used a hack by some user of this forum (wm6btpan) . But that doesn't seem to solve the problem either, although it enables me to use my PPC as a remote control.. )
So at this point, I need your help in establishing the connection between the PC and PPC so that the PPC can use PC's internet connection. For the last 1.5 days I have searched nearly hundreds of resources but nowhere found a complete solution working for a HTC Touch. If , with your help ,I can get my setup going, then I promise to put up a full fledged tutorial on how to do this...
Hoping early response..
