[Prophet] Downgrade/chaning IMEI - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Hi there,
I am trying to change the IMEI of my telephone, as the compagny I work only accepts calls from particular IMEI's. Otherwise you connect to the helpdesk.
We get our phones from the company (I now have a w800i)
There is a guy who bought a new phone, and swapped his IMEI, and now he can use it.
I want the same with my QTEK s200. After a little research I found out that I have got a G3, which is good.
So I downloaded the aWizard to CID unlock my phone.
Unfortunately, I get a memory write error.
Here is the output of the program:
Code:
Initializing............CID unlocking mobile... DO NOT DISCONNECT UNTIL THE PHONE REBOOTS!

Store the generated 'lock_backup.bin' file in a safe place. It can help to restore your device if anything goes wrong.
* Press [Enter] to continue
Its on the 6'th last line.
Next up I download iWizard, I open it, and the program reads out the IMEI succesfull, but it doesn't write.
What to do? Can anyone help me out?
If I didn't supply enough info, do not hesitate to ask for more.

I guess a real solution would be not to change your IMEI but to ask your company's administrators to accept your actual IMEI ?

please help upgrade hw6925

Hi XDA Gurus
I have an hw6925. It was unlocked by entering a code.
On the page for selecting my network I see a single button "Find Network". It gives no control to select a network by hand or to set a preferred network. I basically have only the top button of the three you can see in the attachment below.
In theory I should have those options... I have a hw6940 with those options and even the ATT/Cingular website for this model shows that I should have those options. (see http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&ps=solutionPanels&solutionId=54869).
The phone is also unable to detect that it is roaming. (The roaming triangle symbol never appears when I am roaming, and the activesync roaming schedule is never used.)
It is not clear to me why I am missing these options but I believe it may be because the firmware is not the last version. The Asset Viewer shows that the ROM is 1.30CIN.03ENG (bootloader G.39) and the Radio firmware is 1.02.00. My hw6940 shows firmware 1.48NA.00ENG (Bootloader G.39) and Radio firmware 1.08.00.
I really need to have these options so I am trying to understand how to upgrade my phone. There is no newer firmware for this model offered on neither the HP nor the ATT/Cingular sites. The HP site has the upgrade for both the main and radio firmware, but will not allow me to flash those to my hw6925.
I'm pretty technical but I dont have much experience with these HTC devices.
So, my questions:
1. Does anybody know a simple reason why I dont have the network functions in my hw6925? Is it because of the radio firmware? or the general firmware? or something else?
2. Assuming it is the firmware, any idea how I can upgrade it? Do you think it is possible to use something like HPRUU.EXE to read the radio firmware from my hw6540 and then load it onto the hw6925? Or am I likely to brick it that way? (Can I backup my hw6925 firmware, try it, and if it fails then reload the hw6925 firmware?)
3. Any other ideas how to convert it to a generic hw6945?
Your help is really appreciated!
Thanks
Ron
if anybody else finds this and needs to solve this problem too, I have found a solution.
indeed the issue is not with the ROMs.
there is some feature used by cingular to disable these features, and it is controlled somehow by the SIM card. you can see discussion of this in these two threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284201
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=266794
The solution is to edit the registry under HKLM\Security\Phone\, and set these values:
L: 0
ManualDisable: 1
PreferredDisable: 1
All three should be set to 0. (In my case I did not have a PreferredDisable at all, I added the DWORD entry just to be sure).
In the threads listed some people complained that these values were reset to 1 during reboot. In my case (with no cingular SIM, since my unit is unlocked) I did not have this problem.
Hope this will save somebody else a few hours of searching...

Samsung Saga i770 hacking revival thread

Ok, well lately i have some free time on my hands so i been working on my samsung saga, theres no rom leak to date and what there is on it is well
but we do have an updater. maybe its possible to tear that apart, replace the rom inside with the custom repack it and use it from there.
No i am not much of a phone unlocker, but i am a old school haxor.
So lets get our hands dirty.
I grabbed the 2 SCH-i770_User_upgrade_tool_v2.2.1.0.exe from samsungs website, loaded them up in pe explorer. and started to look at the 2 large files in resources.
one i notice is a File_149 that can be exported as an exe.
It seems to be the Drivers for windows. on further exploration in hex workshop and Rec studio theres nothing in there that looks matches anything in the default stock MW6.1 rom from MS SDK.
eg no dice, this file differs for the winV version its the driver.
**later testing needed(lets rip it out and see if the updater still updates the rom)
next is the file_171, this is the one, I know the IMG is in there somewhere.
I will continue to try and dump the information from 171 into a usable file.
if we have an experienced HAXOR to help out with it. may be possible to edit the rom inside, slip it back in and run the update.

trying from another angle, i used 7zip to extract the files.
and ran 171 through hexworkshop, looking in there i see alot of references to f:/ vctools
could this be a Visual C++ file? unformatted or complied?. well time to grab Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Trial and see what i get out of it.
on a positive note..
I figured out how to hex edit the samsung upgrade tool to spoof the version check every time.
open flexhex. search for DB05 in unicode text. and change to EC06. save and there ya go, at least we have a way to reflash back.
I have reUpgraded my saga 3 times now trying to trap the files that get downloaded.
Denying Delete permissions on Temp folder doesnt work like with most installers
but its hard to believe that all that stuff is run through one standalone app..
i will keep on tearing apart the upgrade tool til i get paydirt, i know its all in there..
if only there was some way to spoof a fake device to get the payload..
curiouser and curiouser
while searching through ANSI text, i came across Linux, and Ramdrive..
could this be why i cant seem to grab the files as they are being downloaded to my saga?
well this isnt going to work.. hmm maybe i will have to find a way to dump my saga's rom, and than compare with what is in the updater. maybe i can pull a clean rom out of it.
good luck dood.

[help] I see my IMEI but...

Hi all, i've purchased an SM-G900F but there is a problem, it has rooted.
I've noticed those :
- I can see IMEI number (if i do #*06#) but my EFS folder is empty
- When turn on WiFi , the device will reboot automatically and appear " Factory Mode is On"
- i can make first call with sim , after i'm unable to call , but the 3G network works
- Whit ES File Explorer i've see that my efs folder is empty (But i can see my IMEI with secret code)
- In Device Info i see one time "Official Status" and another time "Personalized Status"
I'm tinking that old owner is a very st......d guy. Howewer these are all information :
Model : SM-G900F
Version : 4.4.2
BASEBAND : NE2
BUILD : NE2
What do you think? How i can solve the problems?
EDIT 1 : i've formatted from recovery , now it ask me to insert the samsung account of old owner...
- Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to obtain more detailed information about your device, including Model, Baseband, Bootloader, CSC, IMEI, S/N, etc...
- May be the Reactivation lock has been enabled. You should ask the ex-owner for the account.

reactivation lock is on. you will need to contact old owner. There is also a way to "fix" that but not sure if it is appropriate for XDA.

The guy was not traceable now. He's vanished ....
You are kinda between a rock and a hard place if reactivation lock is enabled and you don't have the login to toggle that. In most cases that means that the phone is stolen and this is an explicit anti theft feature. You need that login from the original owner. Or if you have the original receipt, you might be able to convince a Samsung repair center to disable the reactivation lock for you.
In any event, as to your original question the most likely cause of the problem is a corrupt configuration file, namely a text file named "factorymode". You can try this repair from the command line or a root aware text editor.
Code:
echo -n ON > /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
.

Great. But you neglected to tell us if you tried (or even noticed) the suggestion to check your factory mode configuration file. The contents should show "ON" (yes, "ON") and the permissions 0644. Your efs folder may appear empty to you when it really isn't. It depends on whether you have your file browser (or command line options) set to display hidden and system files or not.

y factory mode is on , because i can't acces my wifi, and it appear that factory mode is on. I've set to see hidden files , but now i haven't root on my device
Edit: terminal emulator say : no such file or directory
Edit 2 : Solved with terminal emulator and busy box Thanks to @leoaudio13 for his dump
These are the command for mount efs :
su
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12
mount -w -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p12
reboot
After then , with text editor i've disabled FactoryApp in efs folder tanks to all
.
For the benefit of anyone else reading this thread, do not repeat the steps in the post above until
you understand what they do. A typo in those steps could easily cause you endless grief.
Glad you go it working.
If those steps fixed your issue, then you mislead us with erroneous information earlier. You said that you had an empty efs folder earlier. But those steps would not have been necessary or effective if that was accurate. You must have had a missing efs partition. There is a considerable difference between an empty and nonexistent item and that datum would have led us to a solution.
On a normal phone, there would be an extant efs folder and it would be automatically mounted at boot. A missing folder strongly suggests that the wrong firmware or a flash error took place. Presumably by the previous owner.
Anyone using the make filesystem command mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 should be very careful with typos as an incorrect address could cause major corruption that would be difficult to recover from.

could be a block imei by the operator? if it is POSSIBLE to solve? or it could be due however to the efs folder, or the firmware, modem?

it's a different problem , you have a null imei , in your case it's more difficult to resolve.

As you can read i said, Ive got almost the same problem, i don't say we have the same problem. in a sense that previous owner account or the reactivation lock is present. sorry if i made a statement that bothers you, just looking for a solution.
hello guys, always about the efs folder I was reading this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705524.
according to you through this tool is possiblile restore the backup I had done with samsung tool? I would like to try this because the efs folder on my sm-g900f is 23kb, but the backup I had done with samsung tool is 14mb !! what do you think?

[Q] Are NCK and SPCK codes stored in NVRam, and few more questions?

Hi,
Hi I have a few questions.
Are NCK and SPCK codes stored in NVRam?
How are they calculated, is it still based on IMEI or does the carrier generate the random numbers and inserts them in the phones NVRam or elsewhere?
I'm curious how do those famous box systems work like SigmaKey, DC Unlocker etc.? They send some data via DFU and unlock the phone, reset the unlock counter, fix empty IMEI, flash new firmware etc. I've managed to view some NVRam items via QXDM but I have no idea what I'm looking at, I understand some things of course but still.
Why do I get most of the time "NV Status Error Received: Item inactive" what does that mean?
Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions.
Thanks for your help!
