Hermes body construction - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hey guys!
I donno is this a common problem, but it is freaking me out!!
So here is the thing.. I have a problem with my hermits body construction..
The problem is in upper left corner, when I press it with my fingers it clicks and feels like it isn`t screwed enough ( back cover with front ). So when I am holding device in my left hand and want to press hardware button for messaging located in upper left corner, first I feel and hear body clicking, then I feel and hear button pressed.. So it seems like I pressed the button twice and that is so irritating !!
Same thing happens when the hardware keyboard is sliden out, but then it is in bottom left corner and same thing as with hardware messaging button but now it is with CTRL ( dot ) key on qwerty keyboard.
Does anybody have these problems also or it is just me ?
Is there any solution for this ?
Thnx in advance.

No you are not the only one. In fact mine did it until I took the back off and put a small folded piece of paper in to take up the slack. You see the screw is in properly and will be tight - I tightened it a little more but that made no difference. There is around a quarter to half a mm gap that causes some cases at least to creak a little at top left corner. As you see from inside back pop off cover, the screw is not in the corner but quite far down. It passes through the camera module that keeps it a fraction high for a tight fit.
Mike

Yes, I`ve noticed that screw is not right in the corner like others 3 and it has warranty void over it. I was looking into this problem and also noticed that screwing that screw won`t solve the problem, just like you said.
So the only thing is to void that warranty and open the back cover and put a piece of paper to fill the gap. That seems a little complicated because I never did such thing before and I am scared that I will have problem putting it all back together.
Anyway.. Thank you for your solution..
I will give it a try when my warranty voids and/or when I decide to make my device SuperCID and loose warranty.

why don't u send it in for that and see if the warranty will take care of it? i know here "the customer is always right" so if you ***** enough you might get lucky and get a replacement.
Mine doesn't have that issue, its an imate jasjam which i purchased the last week of december.

I`ve contacted HTC support in my country, now I am waiting for reply..
To tell you the truth, I doubt they will agree to repair it under warranty.. They have strange policy no matter how much the customer is right :-|
I can ***** all I want, that won`t change a thing..
The best thing I can do is not to buy HTC device again and that is what I am going to do if they decline my request for fixing this issue.
If they want to keep their customers they should change the customer support policy, but that is up to them, maybe they don`t like their customers..

Yep, this is standard. The Use connector housing is square and does not follow the curve of the casing.
Mike
Something I have noticed is that on my brand new replacement handset (serial number beginning HT643, my original handset was an HT634) the silver bezel which runs along the right hand side of the screen is recessed slightly - nothing major, but when my original handset's metal strip was flush with the plastic casing, you really do notice it (particularly if you're holding the phone in your left hand). Oh well, only a minor issue really!

BUT maybe this is how they are solving the Screen alignment problem - DONT bend it. Only joking but you never know do you.
Mike
Not planning on it I did notice that JUST as I replaced my handset my screen alignment drifted out, which I corrected with a realignment (I had it replaced for another reason - people not being able to hear me after I'd gone through any call which involved entering numbers to an automated menu system, and then being on hold for a long time! for example... To the T-MOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICES PEOPLE! haha).
Very odd, hope it doesn't happen with this device. I won't go hacking the case to fix it though, I'm too lazy for that.

Middle button loose? Anyone?

I have X1 for 5 day now and seem to have no problem with it. However, today I noticed that if I turn the phone upside down (for example, you hold your phone while you in bed.) and touch the middle button (the joystick) it seem to loose a little when I touched
It's normal? Please confirm me cause I'm still in 1 week return if I found problem.
Thank you in advence.
My optical mouse/button is loose too. If I shake the phone it rattles. I would send it back, but I think I'll wait until supplies stabilize...lol.
Thank you very much for confirm it, However it happen to everyone's phone? or just a few case?
if Anyone have "optical mouse/button" stay fit and not loose. Please confirm us too
No problem on mine. My X1 is 08W45.
desman, you man your button is fit not loose?
Yes, I put it upside down and don't feel any loose.
Thank you desman, I think tomorrow I will have to go to Service center to change it.

Xperia windage in upper sides. Is this normal after 1 month?

HI,
I have problem with the moving part of the X1 rattles, mostly in upper - right side /near Volume button/.
Is this normal?
When phone is closed and I press lightly upped and bottom side of my Xperia - I see that phone clatter. This is mostly in right corner, but nearly the same is also in other left upped corner.
I use my Xperia from one month.
I don't have software problems but i don't know is this normal or I must go to repair?
Thanks

Thanks again
What exactly do you mean by "windage"?

I'm also curious about this, because the only applicable definition of "windage" here would be air friction preventing him from pushing the button down easily, but I highly doubt that this is happening. Maybe he means erosion? I could imagine a way for one to come to a "windage" type of word for describing a similar effect to how wind can erode things.
I think he might be German -there is the word "Verwindung" which means somewhat like deflection in case of twisting. In my opinion he has the problem that when he presses onto to upper right corner the case the lower left corner travels up a little bit which is normal due to the mounting of the slider mechanism.
He means that the moving part of the X1 rattles. I guess that it is a little loose between the screen and the keyboard and when pressing it with its fingers he feels that the screen is moving downwards.
Unfortunately that's the case with mine, it has a very tiny rattle when I press the screen (tiny but I can feel it very easily) which is annoying.
I guess I will have to live with it.
Any other experiences about it?
Yes, I mean the moving part of the X1 rattles. Two parts: bottom part with keyboard and part with display - knocking, when I press them lightly.
I'm sorry for my bad English.
Thanks XavierGr!
When I press some of buttons I feel this move....
Maybe after few months this will be horrible.
Same with my X1. Have it for more than 2 month now and treated it like a raw egg...just wait and see...

If the rattle gets worse we are doomed. This thing will eventually break apart if it continues to rattle more and more.
I hope it stays as it is, it's a bit annoying but I can live with it. Time will tell...

Volume Down Key Broken Any Sggestion?

Hello guys, from around 1-2 Mounths my Volume Down Key is broken.. so its not totally broken.
I think from a long use of my Blackstone and alot of flashing that is the reason why Down is broken also its strange that is not totaly broken, you know that when you remove the back cover the volume buttons are really small and they look black like some kind of plastic so exactly the plastic of the down volume key is broken and now im able to see under that black plastic the metal.. so with fingers i can press it so i can flash new ROMs without a problem but didn`t work when the cover is there and the volume down button just can`t do anything.. i think that other users here can have the same problem because in all Blackstone this is the same material used and etc so if anyone have expirience like this or any suggestion how can i fix this will be very cool
thanks in advance
Funny, my blackstone has the exact same physical problem, making the vol down key more difficult to press, the lower half of the internal one that black plastic you mention on mine is broken.
I read in the hints of the blackstone wiki that if your phones under warranty you could try to get the carrier to fix it, but thats not an option for me since I pulled mine completely apart.
I think its best if you can substitute the broken plastic with something maybe, I really haven't bothered for mine since the button still actually works with the case on it just needs a firmer press.
I have repaired plastic damage on pc cases before (broken front door hinges and such), I just used superglue, some of those plastic 5.1/4" or the 3.1/2" ATA clips you get on some cases, and a stanly.
Im sure I could carve out a small piece plastic that would work.
If you really want to go one further, then what I can suggest is taking the two plastic back covers off your phone, and actually repairing the black plastic part on the back cover, my guess is you could use a couple of layers of heat shrink and glue and with enough time and effort achieve a good result, see, the actual volume button PCB hopefully isnt damaged for yours, as it isn't for mine, and if thats the case then its actually just that internal black cover that is a tiny bit broken.
I fix it today and i will explain how if anyone have the same problem to know what to do its very easy for around 1 minute work and now work perfect:
Because of the broken half plastic of the volume down button the problem was that when im with back cover and i press the volume down key didn`t work because the back cover dont button when is pressed cannot press the volume down button that is on the device.. because all is so tinny and this black plastic that is on the button is around 1/10 of the milimeter very very tinny but on the same time this is enought the button to cannot be pressed. So i remove the back cover and from paper tape i cut one litle squere with the size of the button .. but because the paper tape is really really tinny i put 3-4 paper tapes in one they to become more chik then i apply the paper tape exactly on the down button and then put the back cover so now when i press the volume down button work again because this paper tape help the button to be pressed
Very easy fix for 1 minute.. of course better will be if you don`t have problems like this.. but when heppan you know what to do
nice work!
Looking back at the images I took when replacing my touchscreen and lcd, I noticed that the part of plastic that does suffer the damage isn't actually a part of the outer shell casing, but is actually applied in some way over the top of the soldered buttons on the tiny volume PCB (& ribbon), therefore, you could always take off the shell, remove the pcb with tweesers, apply a small it of electrical tape, and put it back together to achieve a more permanent result
I should've done this when i fixed my screen, I might look into fixing it in the above way in the near future as the volume down button doesnt work that well currently.
I did have exactly the same problem with my volume down key....
Because I still was in the period of the guarantee I sent my phone back to HTC repair center I get it back after 2 weeks with a new volume down key (they changed that broken very very thin plastic) and now it works again perfectly!

The question is if you have a Hardware problem like this broken plastic do u need to re flash to stock ROM when you are going to ask for repair? or when you dont have any problem with the device.. because the volume down key have nothing to do with the software etc do u can go to ask for repair with costum rom?

No way you always have to flash the stock rom (and stock spl!!! they check if "olinex" is there in bootloader!) when you send your phone to the repair center... so did I.
Although this broken vol key has nothing to do with the software the repair center has done a complete test of the phone. And this includes flashing the newest stock rom again. Yes, although I have flashed the latest official HTC rom when I send it to repair center they do that again (after they repaired my device)!! So you always get a completely blank phone back from this repair center.
(spoken from the repair center here in germany but I think this is always the same in every country)
I ask because here in Bulgaria i think we do not have official HTC repair center.. so when i buy the device from somewhere they give me 2 years waranty but from them i mean.. if i have troubles i need to go to the places from where i buy the device and they will repair it.. they will not send it to HTC official or anything else..
thats is the reason why i ask you

same here in germany... i get the name/adress for this repair center from my shop where i bought my touch hd. And then I had the choice if I send my touch hd to my shop (and then they send it to this adress) or I send it myself to the repair center.
I think it'll be the same in other countries. HTC has "partners" in every country for such repair/warrenty things. For germany the repair center is called "arvato services solutions GmbH" (so not an official HTC firm I think)

Front screen only GLUED on? It is popping off!

Okay, I read that someone lifted part off the front by removing a screen saver! Now with me, I recognized that on the left side bottom, left to where the slideview and call buttons are under, the ENTIRE part seems to come up.
It is lifting itself and I bet in a few days/weeks this will get off.
So my question is if anybody had this happen and knows what is under there? Is there a possibility to GLUE it back on?
Now since I am watching this, I think the ENTIRE front can come off eventually and if it is just glued on at the bottom where one has to press the buttons all the time, it is only a matter of (short!) time until this gets out of hand.
Anybody found anything about taking this phone apart yet?
That happens to my phone, I do not bring it back because I buy it in a duty free shop here it japan and also that is the only issues on my phone and only some bugs. I just press it always there to bring it down but it keeps popping up. I think i can glue it, so I do it to fix the problem. Just be carefull if you do it, I notice that under the plastic screen there are buttons (as I think it is) the hard part that you feel when pressing the slideview or call. When you use a liquid glue and put to much, it can go to that button and worst may stuck that part or go inside the phone and also the part where the mic is. I put glue just on the sides just make sure to put small amount at a time. I cannot give the brand of the glue that I use because its in japanese. Now only the small part in the call buttons is up a little because I cannot put enough glue on that part, but in the slide view button its now okay and working well.
This is my firts post on xda hope it helps a little.
