Hi,
I think this is my first post here.
The thing is I have a dual SIM adaptor on my Qtek 9100/HTC Wizard. As such, I use SIM cards from 2 different networks and 2 different GPRS and MMS settings.
It would be great if I the Wizard could change the GPRS and MMS settings automatically, according to the network that is online at the moment.
Is this possible?
Thanks very much in advance!
Benny
Not that I know of, but if you add both network settings in the device the 'autochoose' option pick the correct one, if not you will have to select manual option and when prompted remember which sim you are using, and use that network.
I think that makes sense, feel free to re-post if not.
Hello!
I'm really annoyed that I can't get my unlocked 8125 to display the network name off the network; right now it is forcing all the network names to show up as Cingular i.e. retrieving APN name off SIM instead of off the network. On my old MPx220 back in the day, I had it setup to retrieve the network name instead of the SIM name by using an unlocked ROM and forcing a PIN on the SIM to come up upon bootup. However this trick isn't working on the Wizard. Does anybody know the registry key to modify it so it retrieves it off the network? This happens with all the Cingular SIMS I've tried, as well as all the ROMS I've tried "including Qtec and IMate stock roms". Thanks!
Bump - anybody got any ideas on this?
Hi Guys,
OK, here's the situation. I have an Orange SPV M600. I have an Orange SIM card inserted that has *NO* GPRS functionality (it's my corporate SIM card and they've locked down GPRS for everyone).
What I'm trying to do is dial up to the internet using dial up WAP. What would be the settings for these? All I want to do is be able to maybe send and receive POP emails on the device and maybe slowly browse the internet occasionally.
Any ideas? What would the setup setting be? ANy contributions gratefully accepted
You mean you want to dialup using plain old CSD? That would be easy if that's the case - just setup a new connection and punch in the number of the modem pool of your ISP, and that's it. You got 9.6 baud, unless you have HSCSD - but given that your company locked down GPRS....
normaly WAP also use the same "modem" as gprs
and the diff betwene real grps internet and wap is
handled at the server side depending on the AP
Changed my mind...dual SIM is now the solution!
Thanks Guys
I came up with a different solution though. A Dual SIM adapter. One for my workplace SIM and I'll buy another PAYG SIM with the cheapest data charges and switch between them when I want to make data calls etc. Seems like an ideal solution However, that opens another can of worms....
Which Dual SIM adapter do I get? It has to fit the SPV M600 (HTC Prophet) and I like the idea of being able to switch SIMs whilst the unit is online but I understand these ones really drain the battery. The other one, I understand, does not require power but to switch SIMs, you have to power the phone (or is it unit?) off and on again. Hardly an elegant solution!
I have tried and tried to get my Cingular 8525 to work on the GPRS network here in Russia. I have tried both the MTS and Beeline providers, with the same result. Nothing
My phone is unlocked, of course..
And yes I have tried running the "disablecingularproxy" cab. It seems to make no difference either way. And tried changing the PAP/CHAP gprs authentification settings.
My question, is there something within the Cingular/AT&T rom flash that would prevent my phone from connecting on MTS or Beeline?
i.e. - discrete GPRS settings in the phone registry that can't "normally" be tweaked?
I have literally tried dozens of different approaches to set up the GPRS settings. Per service provider, per smartphone gurus, etc..
Hello guys,
I have a LG E900 unlocked from Telefonica Spain and I live in Lima - Perú (southamerica), I have problems with MMS and 3G network, I can navigate on internet by EDGE but the speed is terrible.
On MFG application I can't find my mobile operator and I can't set up the network profile because my operator doesn't appear in the list
I have read that if I make a hard reset on the phone, in the first boot the Phone catch the network parameters (including MMS and 3G) from the carrier (from my SIM carrier), it's true?
Or are there any way to modify manually the xml network configuration file in order to set the correct parameters in all the fields?
I will really appreciate your help.
Thank you
All you need to do is set ADC on, and soft reset, then you are good to go. You need to go to Engineer Menu>Other Settings>Set ADC. Alternatively, you can download the network app from the LG store in the Marketplace, and it will set ADC to ON upon first time running the app...
Hope it helps.
Hi kapanak, I just tried your advice few minutes ago but the problem continue happend, I've tried with soft a hard reset and in both cases set ADC to ON doesn't work. My carrier have to send me the data in a special format or stuff like that?
Is it possible to change the parameters of xml network profile file by myself?
Just in case: what do you mean with "soft reset"? turn off and then turn on the phone?
How can I change proxy settings on this phone? In this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843517 in the #3 it is mentioned some way to set the proxy and port settings on a samsung focus, I thinks these settings are missing on my LG Optimus 7 and that is why I can't access to 3G Network. some ideas?
Thank you for your answer
After you set ADC on, try to change sim (from another operator), restart, let it connect, and after that, insert back your sim. After restart go to settings, celular, data conection on and it should work.
Be sure if you have 3G network in your area...
Yes, I forgot to mention you need to swap SIM cards in order for the above to work. And make sure you take out the battery or you WILL short circuit the SIM, and your phone.
Thank you kapanak for your answer but It didn't work, I couldn't connect to 3G network and I still seeing the same network parameters (proxy and port) on my network xml file (throught MFG). Are there any way to modify these parameters directly on xml network file?
I guess that my carrier (Claro - Perú) is not able to send the autoconfig information in WP7 format.
Thank you
Have you tried to manually put the Claro APN? I used to do that here in Brazil and at least the 3G worked.
Try to do this:
Settings > Cellular > add apn, and then:
APN: claro.pe or wap.claro.pe (I found both on Bing)
User name: claro
Password: claro
And I think that's it.
PS.: My E900 only start to get automatic setup through ADC after I flashed my Orange-FR phone with an Open-EU ROM found here on XDA, before this, I used to manually set the APN and worked well, only the MMS was missing.
