Help! My outlook has a problem storing old email accounts somewhere??? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Ok, I have an issue now and the spb backup worked extremly well but not flawlessly... in my outlook ppc the backup did not restore the original emails... I know this because I tried to enter the same name thinking they got deleted but they didn't because it made me name something else... moreover, when I used my pocketbreeze program from sbsh it also list all the emails they weren't properly deleted... how and where would I delete these accounts? and rename my active accounts to what I want? Thanks in advance.

anyone have any info on this?

Disclaimer: The procedure below works for me. Your mileage may vary.
In http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283128 I describe how to get a list of eMail accounts.
From the RapiConfigOut.XML file produced, you need the type attribute of the characteristic element of the eMail accounts you want to delete. This should be a GUID value, e.g. {705C42F9-A722-40e3-98C2-4B581F08E3A9}.
To delete an account, you create another XML (DeleteEMAIL2.xml) like this:
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<characteristic type="EMAIL2">
<no-characteristic type="{..the guid of an account you want to delete...}" />
</characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
It is the "no-characteristic" element that causes the account to be deleted.
Send this to the device. (RapiConfig /p DeleteEMAIL2.xml)
An error message might be displayed, so re-check with step 1 that the account is gone.
Don't try to modify more than one account at a time.
I use this procedure to restore my eMail accounts after my TyTN decides to clear my passwords, Bluetooth pairings and application activation keys (TomTom 6), which it does like every other week or so.

Outlook E-mail POP3 Setup - Name already assigned problem

Hello,
I seem to be having a problem with the built in email client on my XDA Exec. Every so often the built in Outlook Mail Client seems to "loose" my POP 3 account. However when I try to add it back in it tells me that:
"That name is already assigned to another account. Enter a unique name and try again"
Now I could keep adding it back in with a different name each time but that is a pants solution. Any thoughts as to how I can permanently fix this issue?
I have trawled through the registry but cannot find within it the name I used when I created the POP3 account.
[I have also noticed that it seems to loose the registration information for SunnySoft Back up as well!]
Many thanks
Change name POP3 in account configuration step 1 or 2 to another like mail1, mail 2. You have to use different names for settings

if only it was that simple. The original entry is no longer visible! So I cannot change it. And I cannot see it in the registry to delete it either. Any idea where does Pocket Outlook store its config information?
No i don't know
losing email accounts
Did you ever see "No GSM" when soft reset? Then get your machine replaced. Check my postings.

Where are eMail Account details stored?

Hi,
I've upgraded my XDA Exec to AKU2 and use Sprite to restore my mail (for my text messages, which worked). However, although they don't appear as selectable accounts, the old account names must be stored somewhere because if I try to reuse them, it complains that the name is already in use. Any idea how I can remove these accounts manually? I can't find them in the registry.
Cheers,
Steve

Old E-Mail Unread Stuck on Messaging Today Plugin

I just re-flashed the ROM of my Wizard and used Sprite Backup to restore my SMS messages. Everything works great. But...
Now I have on the Messaging Today Plugin an old e-mail account showing with unread messages. This e-mail account is not installed on either the Wizard or my desktop I used for syncing. I can highlight it on the Today Screen but when I click it doesn't go anywhere.
I've search entire registry and deleted all instances of the e-mail account and/or account name. I've even tried creating a new account with the same name (it doesn't let me as it says its a duplicate). Either way...everyting I tried has yet to solve it.
Anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance.
When you don't have any precious mail in there, you can use for example SKTools 3's mail database cleanup utility to clean up these databases completely.
Menneisyys,
Thanks for getting back to me. I've tried what you have suggested. First backup the entire phone again. Then did the following:
1) Deleted all e-mail accounts in PIM
2) Deleted all registry entries with any information linked to e-mail account name or account's e-mail address
3) Ran SKTools' Messaging cleaner and deleted all files
4) Ran SKTools' Databases cleaner and emptied all fldr* files that aren't matched to SMS messages. I was unable to delete any of them. It would just say "1 process" but when it re-scans it will still show as 356 bytes.
5) Ran SKTools' Delete PIM info and emptied all MSG for all e-mail accounts. Once again I was unable to delete any of them. it would just reduce them to Zero bytes.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Probably not very helpful now but if they are POP email accounts you are supposed to delete them before the backup as they cannot be restored to a new ROM or Device.

Odd Email problem

I have the T-Mobile MDA Vario II (Windows Mobile 5). My problem arises when open Outlook E-mail. I can see the headers from my new mail. When I click on a message I see the animation (as if Outlook is going to open the email) but no email appears and the "header list" is still in sight.
The same problem with Hotmail and other mail-account, but NOT with textmessages and MMS.
Also I cannot create new mail anymore (not from "new" in outlook, but also not from contacts=>email=>select account.
Does anyone know a solution or is someone struggeling with the same problem?
looks as your PIM database (aka message store/storage) is corrupt.
there are ways to work around it, all involve losing messages.
firstly, backup the device.
secondly, you may want to delete database pMailfolders using sktools databases browser,
or you may want to hard reset and restore from backup EXCLUDING mail.
Note that relation with your Exchange account (if you are using Activesync DirectPush) has to be reestablished, just delete marriage and set it up again.
Thank you for your reply. I bought SKTools to do the job for me (hopefully).
Is deleting the contents of the database enough? Or do I have to delete the whole Pmailfolders database?

IMAP to gmail configuration?

Hi,
I'd like to configure Windows Mobile to make that the delete mail action in my gmail account archives the mail instead of deleting it.
I've read some post over the web talking about this issue, and giving some solutions, but none of them for Windows Mobile.
In essence, the solution implies to change the "label" that is associated with the delete action, so it must change from "[gmail]/trash" to "[gmail]/All mail" (this is my own interpretation of what I've read, very simplified ), but I don't know how to do this. I've searched the registry and the file system looking for some configuration entries, but I've been unable to find any
Any ideas? Is this possible to do?
(my ppc is a HTC TouchHD, by the way)
thanks
1 of the differences between imap and pop3 is that
imap dont delete the mails
you should try to change to pop3 in your pda
Use the IMAP connection and just move the messages to a folder on your PPC, this will change the tags in your gmail account. Thus moving the email from your Inbox to the folder of your choice.
Hi again,
Thanks Rudegar and Deedee for your replys. (sorry for my delayed answar, but I've been out of home some days)
Rudegar, I've been testing the pop3 access, but I have a problem. I use POP (with MS Outlook) in my main computer, so I always have my mails there and organized as I want (folders, subfolders, filters to delete, move, etc...) This is my main "mail box" and I like it this way 8·). The problem now is that if I download one mail from one pop3 "reader" (be it the PC or the PPC) the other one "loses" the mail. I suppose that gmail marks the mail as downloaded by pop so it is not "served" anymore. This makes the pop option "not an option" 8·(
Deedee, I've been playing a little more with the IMAP folders, and, as you say, I can move the messages to folders. The problem here is that this is not so easy as simply deleting it, and letting gmail to keep it archived. What I want is to be able to delete the messages but to be sure that there are kept safe by google, just in case ;·)...
What I want to do is exactly what is described in this page (http://vjarmy.com/archives/2007/10/tutorial_easy_archiving_for_gmai.php), but I don't know if there is some way to do the same in Windows Mobile
Thansk again for your help 8·)
it's done! well... in fact it has been always done! 8·)
As a nice "side efect" of using a spanish version of Windows Mobile, mails are never marked as "Trash", but as "Elementos eliminados", what, of course, gmail does not understands and treats it as a normal label. So emails are never sent to the trash folder, wich is what I wanted! 8·)
So problem solved! Thanks again for your pattience 8·D
