mail delivery report - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi
Does someone know how to set this flag (delivery report) for the outgoing mails?
Thanks

Hi.
1.Look in your "E-mail setup/ Server information" in Messaging. Field "Domain" is blank ?
2. Messaging - E-mail setup (4/4), Options, Options 2/3: Outgoing mail requires authentication - mark this option.

1. No. I use exchange server with domain.
2. Outgoing authentication is the same as incoming. But I dont get any notification when the mail is delivered.

Please read my Mailer Bible; in it, I've also elaborated on this. (Sorry, now I can't give you a URL as I'm on a super-slow GPRS connection and can't search for the link.)

E-mail (gmail) on a non standard port?

On my Prophet I would like to use my Gmail next to my Hotmail account. I've enabled POP in my Gmail account and I tried to set it up on the phone. However, Gmail requires usage of port 995 for pop and 465 for smtp. There is no setting for the port on the Prophet. I tried inputting pop.gmail.com:995 and smtp.gmail.com:465 for the servers but that made no difference (it 'connects' but asks me for my login info while 'loggin on...' and yes I've tried it with and without @gmail.com and retyped my password several times).
Does anybody have a work around? Or.. an option I've missed? Or.. an hack to make it possible to use a different port? Or.. a name of an e-mail application that works on Windows Mobile that provides this feature?
Here, this is the way to set up GMail:
In the Server Information, click Option, and in the "Require SSL connection" box, check/enabled that option. Also, below it, check "outgoing mail requires authentication."
With these two enabled, GMail will work fine.
One last thing, you can only select "Get message header only". If you select get entire mail, once you download your mail to your PPC, you cannot download the mail anymore in your desktop via Pop3.
For Wifi connection, I would recommend you specify larger size of header to download, I use the max 999 KB of message body.
For slower connection like GPRS, I set mine to only download 10 KB of message body.
Hope this helps.
That's weird.. I tried what you propose but as I said it would keeps asking me for my login information? Since those are correct I assumed it was due to the fact that I didnt set the right port number anywhere?
Anything I'm overlooking here then?
Not sure what you miss. I will recommend you just delete that mail box and re-create it again. If it does prompt you for login information, I guess there is a chance you typed the wrong pwd.
But it should work fine. You can use your login without the @gmail.com
Does it work for you? On your Prophet?
Here's what I do @ Outlook E-mail:
* Menu | Tools | New account
* Enter e-mail address: flyingd*[email protected]
* Auto configuration (never goes past Download..) --> Next
* Your name: Full Name
Username: flyingd*tchman [or] flyingd*[email protected]
Password: Password (includes one capital)
* Account type: POP3
Name: gmail
* Incoming mail: pop.gmail.com
Outgoing mail: smtp.gmail.com
Domain:
* Options
Connection: The Internet (= T-Mobile GPRS)
Checked SSL connection
Checked outgoing mail requires authentication
* Finish
Then it goes 'connecting' followed by 'loggin on..' and it keeps asking me for my incoming E-mail username and password?
yes, i just verified my config with yours, line per line.
I have also my password saved there, and limit to 10KB header of message to download over the GPRS link.
Um, this is not a free solution, but you can also use Flexmail 2007, which is an excellent client and supports port changing and everything under the sun.
Does everything under the sun include checking for new e-mail say every minute and reporting new e-mail to the 'today' screen?
It can check for new email every minute.
It doesn't have a Today screen plugin which is one of the main faults of the program, I guess. However, it has the ability to stay minimized in the System tray next to the Wifi icon and it has the ability to notify on each new email so I guess it can tell you when you have new email.
I don't check for my mail every minute and usually use it with my Wifi connection so its perfect for me.
But it can do those things which you mentioned

sending email issue

Hi guys,
Im having a frustrating time trying to get my outlook to send email. I can receive just fine.
Just a note, my computer sends/receives fine and i use the same settings on computer and phone. I never user activsync because ive never been able to get the linux version to work for me.
My server requires authentication however i get this error when i try to send: "The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage
and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again."
If i uncheck the option for authentication, the email bounces as it should saying relay is not allowed.
Im using the same settings as my computer, but I just dont see whats wrong. Im a linux user and built my webserver so i feel like i should be able to figure this out which leads me to thing outlook sucks lol
Any suggestions to try?
James
In 'Edit Server Settings' where it has your User name, Password, and Domain how do you have that set up? when i first did mine i set it up with all three, but it didn't work, and what worked for me was setting the username to be [email protected] leaving the Domain field blank -- so that is something to look into, and if it is different maybe try setting it up the other way just putting your email as the username and the domain in the domain field.
How do i find 'Edit Server Settings'?
In my inbox, i click the Menu button bottom right, click tools and options. then i click on the email account i created, which sends me through all the email settings in the following order.
Note: i never used Outlook email as it never let me specify pop or imap so i added New Account.
Email address -- [email protected]
Your name - james
Account display name -- greyed out
incoming server name lwp.ca
account type -- greyed out (its set to imap)
username -- [email protected]
password
outgoing smtp server: lwp.ca
requires authentication checked
use same user name and password for sending mails checked
Automatic send/receive -- set to manual
download messages set to from the past 30 days
message format : html
message download limit: headers only
download attachments: do not download
I am having the same problem with Alltel PPC6800 and I found out (by tethering with my PC) that some of their IP addresses are listed with Spamhaus.
If I keep trying it will eventually go through when the IP Address switches to one not listed.
Hope it helps?

sorry when you said you use outlook to send i assumed you were using an exchange server -- since you are using IMAP what i said is irrelevant.
When you are at the point where it asks for the outgoing SMTP server, there is a link to 'Advanced Server Settings' at the bottom of the screen. clicking on that will allow you to require SSL for incoming and outgoing -- that would be my only other guess.
but i do find it strange that your incoming and outgoing mail servers are the same and not IMAP.lwp.com and SMTP.lwp.com or something similar.

Problem with .Mac Mail

So I'm having a problem with .Mac mail. I can receive and view my e-mail but I cannot send e-mails using my mogul. I've been searching for my answer on this forum before making this thread but didn't seem to find it. I also tried changing the options up and down but no success.
My settings are as follow:
_________________________________________
Incoming Mail Server
mail.mac.com
Account Type
IMAP4
Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server
smtp.mac.com
[√] Outgoing Server Require Authentication
[√] Use The Same Username And Password For Sending Efmail
Advanced Server Settings
[ ] Require SSL For Incoming E-mail
[ ] Require SSL For Outgoing E-mail
Network Connection
The Internet
_________________________________________
Everytime I try to send a message, I get this notification:
'The message could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again.'
In case it matters I'm using the DCD's Mogul ROM & Kitchen 3.0.4
Thanks in advance,
Bruno
Any comments?
...Anybody ¿?
Change the username for sending.

[email protected]

EMAIL setup for NTLWORLD (Virgin) on O2 please?

Hi there,
I had the EMAIL working ok until Virgin updated their EMAIL setup a couple of months back, but now I seem to be having trouble whatever I try (keeps int deleting EMAIL's + having problems sending/receiving sometimes).
Thanks, Mark.
Check your settings:
Your Name
Your name as you would like it to appear to others when you send them an e-mail. We recommend entering your real name, although any name can be used.
E-mail address
Your Virgin Media e-mail address. Remember that the part after the @ symbol should correspond to your type of account, e.g., [email protected].
Account Type
POP3
Incoming mail server
pop3.virginmedia.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
smtp.virginmedia.com
User Name
Use entire e-mail address.
e.g., [email protected]
Password
Enter the password for your e-mail account. If you don't know the password for your account you can reset it using the forgotten password tool in My Virgin Media.
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
Unticked/No
Thanks for that,
Is that an updated version (since they changed things a couple of months back) or working setups off your phone?
Also I had an O2 address (mail.o2.co.uk) on the outgoing server, as I had trouble sending in the 1st place and this cures things?
Also should the setup be the same for @virginmedia.co.uk addresses as @ntlworld.co.uk ones?
Cheers.

Dude just got to the virgin media website and have a look at the email help page. It's really not that difficult.

I know - I've done that in the past and with the settings they give it would only let you receive EMAIL's and not send them.
I'm not sure if the settings on there are just for mobiles on the Virgin network?
I wanted to be able to send/receive EMAIL's with O2.
I would have looked on the Virgin site myself if I had not tried them in the past and not bothered people on here.
That's the reason that I had to use the mail.o2.co.uk address for the outgoing server before (as it would not send EMAIL's from the settings they supplied on Virgin's site).
Nope - just tried the settings supplied for the NTLWorld EMAIL address on the Virgin site and they still don't work Dude (saying to check my account information when sending/receiving).

If i remember correctly to send now you have to use ssl encryption on the smtp connection and specify the same log in details as for the incoming pop connection (the smtp servers are no longer open). The reason for this is that when it was ntl/blueyonder the smtp servers would only respond to certain ip address' so any further security was not needed.

i just read the latest post. The ip restriction may still be enabled so you may be screwed.
Ok - thanks for that.
Mark.
if you are using a data connection then set it to mail.o2.co.uk and make sure the connction is using o2 mobile
if you are using wifi at home thru the VM connection then you can use smtp.ntlworld.com
I had the same problem when Virgin introduced there "improved" email and this is how I solved it....
!!!!!! NOTE: REQUIRES A GOOGLE (gmail) ACCOUNT FOR THIS TO WORK !!!!!!!!!!
Create your account along the lines of -
Email Address - [email protected]
Name - Fred Bloggs
Account Display Name - Ntlworld
Incoming mail server - [email protected]
Account type - IMAP4
User Name - [email protected]
Password - *****
Save Password - YES
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server - smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server requires authentication - YES
Use the same user name/password for sending email - NO
Outgoing Server login - [email protected]
Password - *****
Save password - YES
You then then tailor the size/frequency of the messages to your choice.
Regards,
Alan

Sorry, but just checking - you have to setup a GMail account for this to work - I was wondering when you send somebody a message if it shows as from the NTL World EMAIL address or the GMail one?
Cheers, Mark.
Hi there,
Thanks for all the replies - I think I may have sussed it now with a combination of peoples replies and also using O2's server for the outgoing mail.
I can now send/receive + also delete EMAIL's off the server so they don't come through on my PC once I have deleted and done a send/receive on the phone.
Cheers, Mark.
I was also wondering about the IMAP4 setting on the mobile - does this mean that everything on the server is also stored on the phone as well, so you have old EMAIL's on your phone as well?
Does this slow the HD2 down, as it would be handy to have some of the older EMAIL's in folders on the phone.
It sends it from the gmail address.... All I have got in my folders is the stuff in my inbox... BTW what settings did you end up using for both the outgoing and sending?
Regards,
Alan
Hi there,
I got these settings E-Mailed from Virgin in the end (like the ones posted by somebody else earlier, but with info on the SSL + ports etc (not that I think you can setup the ports on the HD2).
It seems to work all ok now with even being able to delete messages off the server as well.
Cheers, Mark.
Thanks for getting in touch with the Virgin Media Support team.
The details for your email account settings are below.
Incoming Mail Server - pop3.virginmedia.com
Outgoing Mail Server- smtp.virginmedia.com
Username - Full email address including @ntlworld.com
Password - Your email password
Outgoing server requires authentication - Yes
Incoming Server Port - 995
SSL Required - Yes
Outgoing Server Port - 465
SSL Required - Yes
If you are going to be receiving emails to more than one device you will
need to use 'Recent' mode in order to facilitate this. To do this simply
add 'recent:' to the start of the username in your account settings on
your email client so if your username was '[email protected]' it
would become 'recent:[email protected]'.

[Q] Droid Email Setup

Hello everyone. I cannot figure out how to add my second email to my droid. I have it rooted with the liberty 1.5 rom and figured out how to do the hotmail but my other pop3 I cannot figure out.
Here is the instructions from the website.
PC Client Setup Information:
POP3 (inbound mail) Server: mail.ar15.com
SMTP (outbound mail) Server: mail.ar15.com
- User name and password are case sensitive.
- Your password must be 4-16 characters long.(alpha-numeric)
- For security, we require authentication for outbound (SMTP) mail. check "MY SERVER REQUIRES AUTHENTICATION" in your mail client under server settings.
- Please set the email check timer to be 10 minutes or more.
I enter in all of my info but cannot find any part where It asks for the SMTP. Under security type I see
none
SSL
SSL (accept all certs)
TLS
TLS (accept all certs)
I can get passed the ingoing email screen but when it comes to the outgoing email screen I get this message: Unable to open connection to server
Any help? I had it set up before I rooted but not cannot get it dialed in.
Thanks
No one?
Please help as this is super important I get it working..
I would go back in to settings>accounts> and click on that account. then select outgoing server, and try it without verifiy certificate, then if that doesnt work, try it without authentication.
