Is there any way to map the phonepad (on screen) to the physical keypad on the atom stealth like the way the ezitext is mapped to the physical keypad?
thanks
I am interested in this as well, for example HTC IntelliPad is much more better than eZiText (no bug in Multitap, T9 support) and with more dictionaries (including czech). But unfortunately now it works only when tapping on the touchscreen :-/

Precisely why it's called Intellipad... It's such a waste if Intellipad can't be hardwired to Stealth's physical keypad... ;P
here's one that can help
try this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403736
just a note, this app has a limitation of only 4 characters per key, also it is intended for hebrew input, so you might need to change the layout.xml file
pls disregard, i got your question wrong.. lol

does an english wizard have the same physical keyboard (letters in the same positions) than an italian or french or german wizard?
Are the keyboards all the same?
thanx
nope.. T-Mobile germany's keyboards are QWERTZ:
http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/T-Mobile-MDA-Vario.jpg
While here's a French AZERTY:
http://www.smartphonefrance.info/img/Qtek9100-05.jpg
well...i need to know the italian and the english...do they match?
as far as letter and number keys go, yes - IT and EN are both:
QWERTYUIOP
ASDFGHJKL
ZXCVBNM
There may be some difference in the other keys, due to the italian language making use of extended letters a lot (thus putting them on the keyboard would be useful for users of it).
Haven't spotted a picture of an IT one yet
if the underlying question is: Can I use an english ROM with an italian device? The answer is : yes. You will find other posts that explain what registry changes will let you map correctly the keyboard. Like in France we use AZERTY keyboards, so making the correct registry changes, we can use our french keyboard and use the A key and get an A instead of a Q
yes but the problem is that in italian qwerty there are buttons for à,è,é,ò,ì,ù ...very used letter in my language...i just wonder if on english qwerty these letters/button ar present and primary.
Its' the same in French! If you have an italian device and if you update correctly the registry you should have all keys functionning as before. I've not tested it yet on my phone (still a french ROM) but I do it on my PC: french keyboard and english OS. I can use all the accented letters like if I were using a French keyboard with a French OS. I don't see why it should be otherwise on the PPC.
i can't explain...sorry!
what I mean is if the letter/button "è" (for instance) is NOT PHISICALLY present/written on the phisycal qwerty english tkeyboard BUT it is present ( and IT IS PRESENT because I use it everyday) on the italian qwerty...this answers to my question
Not quite sure what you are looking for exactly. Anyway, maybe this will help:
go to \HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd
There should be a "Locale" string value. If it's not there create it! and give it the value "0410"
To get the accented letters like e
press e
then the blue dot (left bottom corner)
then the space bar
I hope I'm making sense.Good luck!
:x
He's asking whether the keys are physically there on the slide-out keyboard. I.e. is there a little label / sticker with "è" on it?
There isn't one the English version (you can still get that character by means of the Sym key in combination with the 'e' key).
just to add confusion to this problem.
i have a t mobile MDA and a frien has a O2 mini and the keyboard layout is different on both. the Mini gets the benefit of a '£' sign whilst i have to get the electronic keyboard out for this. i suppose i could do a reg edit, anyone know how???
Hello, I have had Wizard for a long time. Some time ago I purchased new O2 XDA Stealth phone (with slide numeric keyboard). There is the possibility to use the numeric keyboard for writing i.e. SMS's quickly when selected SIP eZiText. But there is a bug in eZiText and the support is terrible. So I decided to try to install IntelliPad from HTC to this device. After soft-reset it works normally (it means tapping by fingers to the screen). But do you thing that there is any possibility to make this to work with my hardware keyboard together as well? Somewhere has to be some buttons mapping, but I am not an advanced programmer and do not where.
Or is there any other SIP which could be usable with O2 XDA Stealth instead of eZiText?

Please let me know also, I'm having the same issue. Could you let me know where I can find Intellipad from HTC ? Any specific link ?
Thanks
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1062820&postcount=2
but note that this is only software SIP, that will be shown on the screen and does not cooperate with the hardware keyboard :-(
Well, is not that I like T9, honestly
but someone asked in another forum
if is there a virtual num keyboard with T9
to call and text messages with one hand
and without sliding the keyboard out.
.
Sure, install the Touch HD keyboards - nice finger-friendly phone keypad with T9 on offer - I tend to use it for texting shorter messages (or one-handed). They're available here.
the vga version of phonepad also works flawless
If you don't like T9, you can try a better onscreen qwerty keyboard than the one supplied with WM. I installed resco keyboard and for quick texting like a sms I never open the keyboard any more, it lets you type with one hand and sufficient accuracy.

where can i find this??
When I use HW keyboard it always has ABC mode on. I have to use FN key and T9 key to choose T9 manually.
How can I enable T9 to be automatically ON when I use HW keyboard?
Thank you for your help
the t9 always works with a onscreen keyboard. Also if you manage it with a hack a problem would be to where the word suggestions should pop up on the screen.
when someone write a programme for your suggestion than it would be a custom keyboard without letters, only word suggestions and pops automaticly up when the keyboard on the pro is used.
Maybe someone already wrote it.
It would be nice trough
Search for the cab god damn it! There is a cab in one of the ezinput keyboard threads in dev & hacking that allows T9 to always be on (Yes, including the HW keyboard).

You don't happen to have a link to this cab at hand, do you? I for one would like to have the T9 always on (even with the hw keyboard), but did not manage to find the correct thread / cab even after an extensive search.
I searched with no result, unfortunately. If you could be so kind to address me to that cab, I would be very grateful indeed.

Oh that was so hard I almost had to use my brain
First result when searching on ezinput T9 always enable came up trumps...
DeadKeys / T9 as default behaviour for the Fn+Space combo - Full HW Keyboard phones
I thank you very much. Even if I walk around here for years, sometimes it happens that I am not able to find out things. Fortunately there are others who help
You're very welcome, glad to help.
Thanks for pointing out about the keyboard, did you test it and it works?
why not FN + Space It´s working at my device
Because I would like that when I slide out the keyboard I can immediately type with T9 on, without switching it on manually - this is the meaning of "automatically ON"
okaaaay. sry for that, but just tell me the sense of T9 with a "complete" keyboard!?? Do you also have T9 at your computer at home?

I see a couple of ways T9 is useful with the full keyboard.
1. Words like "won't" can be typed out with w-o-n-t rather than w-o-n-FN-'-t
2. It helps with long words. We can use the arrow keys to choose the word after a couple of letters rather than typing out the rest of the word.
There's a fundamental difference between the keyboard on a mobile device like the Rhodium and your desktop keyboard. On our Rhodium, we have only our 2 thumbs. On a full size desktop/notebook, we make use of all 10 of our fingers.
It seems that we are concentrating on why I have asked to have T9 ON, while I was asking HOW to have it on.
If you don't agree that it is a good thing that somebody finds out how to, simply don't post here
I never used T9 but it supposed to offer words from vocabulary? in my case it doesn't...
well, has someone found a way to make this work on landscape or hardware keyboard ??
having to always activa xt9 is boring ..
(that cab does not work) looking at the registry is changes from 1 to 0 when changing to landscape and it's the htc keyboard doing this. If you activate xt9 and change to the default windows keyboard it works but then you have a small keyboard when on portait.
I agree, the same thing happens to me. The easiest solution is to have it rotate to portrait, pull up the XT9 keyboard and then open the screen.
It's a pain, though. Would love another solution.
Dead key
None of CABs which can be found here are not working the way that if I will press Fn+Sym it acts as deadkey - always T9 dialog is shown. Have anybody idea how to change it?
I have a ww english version of the Touch 3G
The HTC software keyboard (called "Full QWERTY") nicely follows regional settings, and hence displays the AZERTY layout matching my language
The WM OS software keyboard (called "Keyboard") keeps defaulting to QWERTY...
But here comes the trick: I have an "old" bluetooth foldable keyboard (was working fine with my QTEK S100), that I am trying to use with my Touch 3G; the layout of this hardware keyboard is AZERTY.
2 options, 2 problems:
option #1: use the latest drivers available for the keyboard (which is no longer supported by the manufacturer); unfortunately, the drivers apparently don't like wm 6.1 and cause crashes in the services.exe module.
option #2 : have the keyboard recognized by wm 6.1 as standard HID BT device ("Think Outside Keyboard"): that works, despite some functionality loss I can live with, but the keyboard layout is wrong, b/c the device OS is ww english, and hence the layout is QWERTY, regardless of the regional settings....Apparently, this follows the logic of the WM OS software keyboard, not the HTC soft keyboard...
Question: in order to make option #2 work: I would need to tweak the OS to use the AZERTY keyboard layout instead of the default QWERTY... any way to accomplish that ?

Can you advice which version of FingerKeyb 2.1 work perfect in HTC Touch 3g (Jade).
Although, Jade already have Full Qwert keypad, which is quite comfortable, but it gets deformatted once I manually change the orientation to Landscape (using QuickMenu).
So, basically I'm looking for a keypad similiar or better than Full Qwerty Keypad to use in Landscape orientation.
Thanks in advance!!

You can try this one:

The landscape-mode is very good, IMO, but you have to buy it after a free trial-time.
