Problem, help please - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I don't know what happend, but after I try to unlock and mount ext. rom, my device, keeps in the Orange startup screen for a while.
After that I must to do a hard reset, after the Install of programs (I supose from ext. rom) an error appears, saying The file: \extended_rom\autorun.exe does not exist. After that I need to do a soft reset to use my device. All seem to be ok, except some things about orange (I'm using it for voda, so dont care)
If I try to mount & unlock the extended rom after the hard reset My screen goes to the orange startup screen and hang it there...
I don't know what I must do know to try to access to the extended rom.
Even If I tray to restore a backup, my device hangs in the same point.
Please help me, If you can.
My device is an SPV M3100 (unlocked with pof method since 15 days).
Thank you in advance

I have the contents of the extended rom, of a previous day that I do a backup:
AutoRun.exe
AutoRun.exe.0C0A.mui
Config.txt
HERMES_SP_28_08_2006.CAB
MT_PC_Hermes_OrangeRO_REG_060612.CAB
MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes.CAB
T_mm1lib_DLL.CAB
But I can't put this files, because when I try to unlock the ext rom my SPV hangs, and I need to hard reset it

Each time that I try to unlock the ext rom my device needs to be hard reset.
I have a friend with another device like this.
can I extract the rom from this device and upload to my device?

Problems after Start HimaClearJumpCode.exe

Hello,
i do something wrong,
i start the HimaClearJumpCode.exe on my XDAII, and now
the XDA always in the USB/Serial V1.01 mode and any
reset or remove battery don't restart.
could someone have a idea how to reset it?
Regards
Markus
Why do you start this file ????
AFAIK this file is used during the update-process by the
HimalayUpgrade and should never be used manually.
And AFAIK it definitly thrashes your as it jumps into the bootloader.
Try to describe what you want to do !!!
Alex
you can restore your device by running the HimeUpgradeUt.exe with the xda2 cradled. it will take a minute orso before it starts.
by running the HimaClearJumpCode.exe you have erased the first 256k of your rom.
normally this is done by the upgrade tool, which first makes a backup of this part of the rom ( 80040000-80080000 ) to the top 256k ( 81fc0000-82000000 )
then runs HimaClearJumpCode.exe, then resets the device, to enter the bootloader.
and after it is done flashing other parts, it copies back the saved rom part.

hi, I am one of those stupids who did this **** again. In the restoring method, u mentioned that one has to run the HimeUpgradeUt.exe with xda2 cradled. U didn't mention if i need to have the Extended ROM in the same folder where HimeUpgradeUt.exe resides. Do I need to do place the Extended ROM image(.nbf) to that folder. If so, please suggest me a appropriate English Extended ROM name. I have searched at the ftp but unfortunately I could hardly understand by the naming of the ROM on the ftp. I want my XDAII back. please help.

extROM is different part. You can update without extROM

o2 Ative

Hi all can any one help please i wont to remove o2 ative from the extened rom, Can i do that with out loosing my GPRS , i just wont a simple interface when i need to do hard reset , Can any one give me a little advice please, Plus could i make a boot image so it can run from Sd card .
Sorry about this but is there any way of putting my Email conection direct in to the ext rom so if i do hard reset it still there.
PS thanks for your time
If you remove the link from the \windows\startup directory and simply do a soft reset then Active sync wont automatically start, but if you do wont to use it, the link will still be on your start menu.
I recommend using Sprite Backup

Hard Reset doesn't reinstall ext rom cabs

Hello there,
just wanted a fresh start with wm5 after recieving my 1gb minisd. because i didn't got the hardreset by pressing the buttons to work i used clean storage to hard reset, but afterwards it asks for calibration and timezone settings but doesn't install the cabs in the extrom. does someone know why and how i can fix this?
Ok, found out how hard reset by presing the buttons on the device works. But it's the same thing. Windows Mobile 5.0 setup starts (time zone and popup menu howto) but after this it says setup is completed and returns to the today screen.
But The cabs in the extended rom are stil there. I never touched them but copied the as backup to my pc. I#m able to manually install them when unlocking but they do not install by default. Why?
Can someone of the german XDA mini S users send me a copy of their original ext rom? I'm completly confused why my device ignores the complete cabs and autoexec from ext rom
hello there,
just inspected my extended rom a little further. There is no config.txt. I may have accidentially deleted this file.
Can someone who own a GERMAN O2 XDA mini S send me hiw original config.txt?
Thanks in Advance,
Maui

Ext_rom unlocker? This is going to sound silly.

I realize this might be a strange question, but can someone tell me why we need the extended_rom unlocker? I have an orange switzerland branded spv m5000, and I hard reset it today. After it came back up, I installed GSfinder as an alternative file browser, and entered \extended_rom in the adress bar.
Without any trouble, I was browsing the content of the extended rom. Does this mean that the ext_rom is unlocked by default on my device? Or does the effect of the unlock tool survive a hard reset?
Can you write into the Ext Rom?
Yes
Yup, no problems. I just copied my cooked ext_rom in there, and hard reset again. Works perfectly.
Maybe this detail is important: The first hard reset was necessary because I flashed the new orange switzerland updated rom two days ago. I let it run completely through the default installations, to see what was new, then hard reset /soft reset it to avoid it installing the orange stuff. Then I wanted to run the ext_rom unlocker to change to my cooked version, and noticed that the ext_rom was already accesible.

How to return to old windows mobile

Hi everybody , I have i-mate JASJAM with WM5 soon i'v upgraded to windows mobile diamond ,however I want to return to the old windows I mean the original one but I dont know how to do this , any help please??
Press Start -> Settings -> System -> Clear Storage, press enter to launch, you will be prompted to type "1234" and to press Enter. If you do this you will lose all contents and the Dash will be restored to its original configuration. It takes about 5 minutes for it do this and reboot.
hold down the two soft keys and power the device on. Or you can also hold both soft buttons while pushing the stylus into the reset hole.
Not if mamadoharoona has updated the rom... Doing what DhaMajoR said will reset the Hermes to default BUT it uses the OS installed as the default. So, if you have flashed a new OS on your device you need to flash the WM05 stock rom to get that back, and good luck finding it...
Cheers...
Thank you DhaMajor , Ultramag69 is right the OS system does'nt change after applying your steps ,thats make me want to ask ULTRAMAG69 how can i flash the WM05 rom? I tried the same steps i have done with WM black diamond ,and the os still the same.
If you have any advice please tell me
Thank you for your interest
You need to find the WM05 flash file, good luck with that as they are as hard to find as hen's teeth if you didn't keep a copy of your original WM05 rom.
Make sure you have Hard SPL V7 on your Hermes and then flash the new rom. I use the sd card method as it seems safer to me, my opinion, and is REALLY easy.
1. Format 2Gb or less sd card FAT32. Copy .nbh file of new rom to it and rename to hermimg.nbh .
2. Put sd card into Hermes and reset Hermes into bootloader.
3. If 1st two steps done right, follow the prompts. If not, just reset to get out of bootloader, fix up what needs fixing and try again.
Cheers...
Thank you
Thank you very much
