Hi guys,
I'm all new to your forum...
I have the o2 xdII, xdaIIs and now i'm using the xda Exec.
I have a strange problem that even o2 technical support team can't fix...
When i start internet explorer it will connect to either gprs or 3g (whatever is available). when i finish browsing the internet, i just close internet explorer and then close the connection by clicking the disconnect button. Where my problem is, is when i want to reconnect to the internet again (say 5 mins after i close the last connection), i cant get any connection whatsoever. I have a good receiption (gprs and 3g). And i have this weird message :
Dialed: mobile.o2.co.uk
The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings.
So after a lot of talking with o2, i still have this problem.
I have tried to uprgrade to the new rom, and nothing, i have change the settings of the cennection, still nothing. i even changed the handset as i and o2 thought it could have been a faulty handset, but still nothing...
The only solution at the present is to do a soft reset everytime i want to connect to the internet... Its very annoying !!!!
Would annyone have a solution ??? Please ?????
Thank you in advance for your help....
Personally; I wouldn't suggest closing the connection and you won't get charged any extra.
this is easy to fix, but you will lose some software you've got installed.
I had this problem and have worked it out to be conflicts between software that handles the phone line. I had mortring, phonealarm and photo contacts pro installed and my gprs would not reconnect after the 2nd attempt. Putting the phone into flight mode and then back into normal mode would allow gprs to reconnect but only once.
So I uninstalled the above 3 applications one by one and found the gprs would reconnect great with only one installed (any one it didn't matter)
So try removing software that handles the phone line until your gprs reconnect works.

My o2 wapflat ist working fine most times. and i use pushemail trough this also. but sometimes the gprs connection im using 24 hours a day shows that is is connected but no more sync or even internet works. if i try to reconnect i dont even get a connection to gprs. Only a softrest does help.
Can somebody help?
P.s. I did not install the crappy o2 software from ext.rom
Hallo Sebi
Cannot help you much, only report that with Base flat and Cortado Direct Push I experience no such problems. If GPRS signal is lost out of coverage the device automatically reconnects, and the device never shows GPRS running when in fact there is no connection. Maybe there is a GPRS sensitivy setting in the registry, but I can only speculate. Good luck.
I think the problem is comming from phonealarm. i just get the new beta an know the problem is gone.
Hi, in the last days I try without success to navigate with my P3600 connected to a wi-fi network. A friend of mine have a nokia with wi-fi ability, when activate the wi-fi search it found the network (unprotected) and navigate normally with the browser preinstalled. The connection on my trinity is normally estabilished, but when I launch IE no website is accessible. In wi-fi network cards settings I found two options, The Internet and Work, but in the Connection, Advanced Options, I can choose between five options (Impostazioni ufficio, Impostazioni Internet, Vodafone Web GPRS, Vodafone Wap GPRS and Vodafone MMS GPRS) but The Internet and Work are not present. Is possible that this is the cause of the problem?
I try also to install Opera Mini, in MIDlet Manager I can choose every settings (also The Internet and Work) but I can't navigate the web.
Please, help me to find a solution, my friend say that nokia is better than htc..
same to mine... only few hotspot can be used (mcdonald`s). it recognizes the network, connects to it but the browser doesn`t open any page.

I've been using my device to navigate the Internet at work, at home, abroad, with secured and unsecured Wireless Networks, so I guess it is a matter of settings or OS (ROM).
I can't navigate on any hotspot, it seems that I loose some config.. please, can you post how to config connection and wi-fi ?
I tried today to stop 3G and select GSM only - no use... I also tried to use opera instead of IE - no use... Probably it will work with a new firmware version, but for the moment I am satisfied with or without wi-fi.
I think that a reset hardware is the possible solution..
You could both try a hard reset and after that, if all fails, try a different Radio version.
It is the first time for a reset hw on my P3600, what is the exact procedure to follow? How to backup and restore my data (contacts, sms, settings, etc..)?

Read the Wiki and use search.
I have the same problem, the connection wifi lan is ok, but Explorer don’t find the web page. My workmate whit a ASUS have not problem.
I tried put in the Explorer the IP directions pages, and configure DNS in the PDA. Also tried with ROMs: Vodafone Windows Movile 5.0, HTC WM 5.0 and Faman 4.2, and several radios.
Any idea? Thanks in advance.
Since I upgraded to WM6, and I remove the battery the clock resets to 12:00 in February 2006.
It's weird, also the Activesync connections and GPRS connection settings and WIFI settings are also gone after switching the battery.
Any work around this?
try this
had this problem with the time with wm5 & wm6. found this patch on htc site & now my time is alright after installing this patch. activesync/gprs/wifi settings were fine for me though.
from htc site:
5/10/2007
Patch for Resolving Time Setting Loss Problem
After removing and then reinserting the battery in certain devices that run Windows Mobile 5 or earlier version, the time setting is lost and reverts back to the factory default setting. If you encountered this problem, please download this patch and install it on your device to fix the problem.
works on wm6 as well from my personal experience above
I'll give it a go!
Thank you for this.
Edit: Well, this works rather well!
Thank you!

Hey all,
i have just flashed my phone to Khanx ROM (its great!) but i am having a problem with the internet connection sharing module.
The device will disconnect within 5 minutes of me enabling the connection. This happens too regularly for it to be a problem with reception, and i am almost certain i have full HSPDA converage.
Is there a timeout value i can change in the registry or is there another setting i can change?
I have upgraded my ROM from the custom o2 build. Now i know from past experience that o2 will fiddle with settings so that there network is aware of devices that are not sold by them. The classic example is the mms headers, if they do not say xda_orbit_2 the mms will be resize to under 10kb. What i am getting at is that if o2 can do this i am certain they could tell me phone to disconnect periodically.
So, i am hoping someone can help me firstly with any settings to change or identify the registry keys that i need to be aware of so i can compare them to o2's settings.
Thanks
Fergus
