No Ringing Sound - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have the I-mate JASJAM with the following info:
ROM Version: 1.20.305.3
ROM Date: 07/21/06
Radio Version: 1.07.03.10
Protocol Version: 32.41.7010.02H
ExtROM: 1.20.304.104
I bought my phone last week, yesterday the ringer went silent, the screen lights up and a message appears on the screen when someone calls, but no ringing tome.
I tried adjusting the volume or change settings (On Off Vibrate) but only a reset resolves the problem.
Today it did it again!! No ringing sound; but I can answer and have a conversation with the caller.
p.s. I only have Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 installed.
Any one faced this issue.
Regards.
Simple.

Hi simple.
I've noticed this happens sometimes and only a sof reset seems to restore the device sound. As you described, the call sound still works fine, but all event sounds, clicks, voice command responses etc. are muted.
For me it seems to be related to turning on and off bluetooth and using the bluetooth headset. About 20 percent of the time after using the bt headset and then turning off bluetooth my sound problem occurs. I'm searching the forum for answers myself now.
Codenix.

Try issueing the "Ringer high" command with MS Voice Command. Have noticed that if you issue a ringer command with MSVC then it overrides what you set it to. So if you have accidentally issued a ringer off or ringer low command then it will automatically revery back to it.
Just a thought, give it a go.
S.K.

I do not use Bluetooth with the JASJAM, and as I said I only used VC 1.5, I now removed VC 1.5 and installed VC 1.6 but already had one incident with No Ringer Sound!!
I tried manually controlling the sound level, but to no avail. I will wait until it happens again and try to issue the "Ringer High" command, but I am not hopeful since Codenix is reporting the issue as related to Bluetooth.
It is possible that there is a bug with the windows sound system as both VC 1.5/6 and Blutooth affect chanelling of sound).
Currently my ringer file is WMA format; I will also try with a different file format.
Simple.

Today I had a reoccurance of this problem without having used bluetooth at all, so it seems bluetooth per-se isn't the issue. I also tried the suggestion of issuing the voice command ringer loud command with no results.
Since my initial post I've seen the issue log in the Hermes wiki which notes the muting issue as logged, but no progress seems to have been made.
Codenix.

have you tried upgrading to the latest JASJAM rom here ??

Has there been any more information about this issue, or maybe a fix, as I have experienced it too. Basically, if I install Voice Command (either version), the problem occurs. If I pair my Motorola BT stereo headphones I seem to have the same problem.
However, I can pair the phone with my BMW without a problem. I can also pair it with my BT GPS unit and my laptop without ever having the sound disappear. It seems to only be related to Voice Command and the BT stereo headphones.
I have the 1.35 ROM on my HTC TyTN.

If you have problems streaming audio to Motorola HT820....

...this guy got it working so it's possible.
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4679.html
I received my HT-820 this morning.
I followed this guide and have successfully listened to music over the headset.
I've also recorded a voicemail message so the phone function seems to work.
Hello.
I got my Qtek S110 to work with the Motorola HT 820 too, but I have some problems.
- there are glitches in the playback. I think due to the fixed 195kbps connection rate (the device must transform the music played).
- I have more gitches and stops when the bitrate of the music is over 195 kbps.
- if I turn the audio redirection and auto mute on then I can not hear anytheng (eg. ringtone) when the headset swithed off. I have to manually turn off the redirection.
- the redirection only works with MS Media Player.
Is there any idea to solve this issues?

If you read the HT820 quickk start guide,
http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/QG-HT820HdPhns.pdf
It says that "Note: You may need to wait several seconds before
hearing music in the headphones while the devices
connect."
This is why the first few seconds of the song/track are skippy. If ther are ever connection problems, the same thing happens midway through the song.
When you turn the headphone off, you need to turn the bluetooth audo settings off as well.
These issues make me believe that this patch/update is only a beta/test version and not the real thing, especially as the Bluetooth on the HT820 is done by the same people that made this patch (CSR)
http://www.csr.com/pr/pr210.htm
Still the patch is an advancement for the Magician. Just have to work around it
quick question to ht820 owners,
can you tell me if you can use these headphones for voice dial?
bluetake bt450 cannot, you have to dial via phone, then headset can be used to hangup.
thanks
in advance

I would answer that question but I've never used voice dial. is that what Microsoft Voice Command is used for?
What I CAN tell youthough, is that on the second page of the manual, it tells you how to "make a voice dial call"
http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/QG-HT820HdPhns.pdf
thanks for the reply,
reading the instructions in "make call" first instruction says "hold button then speak after tone"
bluetake doesn't have that function
thanks again
two final questions, if you don't mind,
are they supplied with audio cable to use with non bluetooth music player?
and is the audio quality good or great or just ok?
thanks again again

I don't mind.
Yes, there is an audio cable that will connect the headset's 2.5mm socket with a regular 3.5mm one.
The audio quality is as good as I've heard. Any audio problems you get with the PDA will be due to the bluetooth patch which I believe is still experimental.
The HT820 works very nicely particularly if the Magician is tweaked with Pocket Hack Master. The skips are barely noticeble and the lag at the beginning of each track is minimised. Voice Dialing works flawlessly with Cyberon Voice Speed Dial...the HT820 mic relays the command to the Magician...BUT...same issue with MVC...you don't hear the voice command relayed from the Magician back to the headset.
The one thing that I have not been able to work is the "resume playback after a phone call" even with the option ticked off in /menu/options/playback in Windows Media Player. Everytime I answer a call or make a call, WMP reverts back to the default Library opening screen. I've read in the other thread that others have had it working the way it should.
Any ideas?

Where can I get this pocket hack master?
I did't change any of the settings and mine automatically resumes playback after answering a call.
www.pocketgear.com ....cost 15 bucks.... worth it IMHO
download the trial and give it a spin... buy it if it works for you....
you'll be able to overclock or underclock your cpu speed and set certain fixed speeds for certain applications... I've found that different settings works best for different machines...tried it on three different Magicians with different ROMS and different applications... the settings that works best for my Jam and the HT820 are :
CPU between 260 to 520
Bus between 104 to 117
Ram between 52 to 59
LCD between 52 to 59
you've got to find what works for you... Not perfect mind you, but certainly a LOT better then without...like I said I barely notice the skips and depending on the CPU speed set, the delay at the front of each new track can be cut to a split second... all my tracks are at 192 kbps BTW... mow if only I can get the darn WMP to resume play after a call ...
I need help.. .please
Hi all,

This topic may be of interest to those who have the Motoroal HT820 bluetooth headset, and want to tweak music playback.
I prefer to untick "automute" so that I can hear the phone ring and can issue Voice Commands with MS Voice Command. Problem I was having, every time I opened Windows Media Player to stream music, it would blare out of the internal speaker as well. Here's the fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=226814#226814
I´ve installed the cab file and activated the "stream audio" option, my headset is registered and connected, but it is not available in the list of headsets where i checked the "stream audio" box. The list is empty. Maybe just working with stereo headsets ?
Hey all i've followed the prompts time and time again but i come up with the issue that once connected to the ht820 and i open windows media player to play a song the following error msg pops up:
"Bluetooth is turned off. Bluetooth audio has been disabled. Enable Bluetooth audio by turning on Bluetooth, then select Use Bluetooth audio again."
I switch bluetooth off and on and the same msg pops back up when i go to play a song!!!
WTF???
I'm thinking that because i've installed this hack and the other bluetooth hack and removed soo many times i might be in need of a hard reset!
Help so i dont have too PLEASE

Yes, just stereo.
There is a mono way though.

Make sure Bluetooth is on and the phone is not in flight mode.
If all else fails, backup your data (xbackup) and hard reset.
Hi
I want to know if the Motorola HT820 works with my Xda II following all the steps you say here?
I have ROM 2.20.07
Thanks

Audio over bluetooth

I have skype installed on my qtek 9000, and wanted to be able to use it from my bluetooth headset (Jabra 250). I started skype from the qtek screen, and of course could not get the bluetooth audio to stay on for more than a few seconds. The cyberon voice dialer keeps starting up, and as soon as it is through waiting for sound, it shuts down and so does the bluetooth headset audio. I happened to create a voice tag to start skype, and made a 100% repeatable discovery. If I start skype from the headset, I have continuous audio. Even if I shut skype down in memory, running programs, the audio continues in the jabra. If I start skype from the qtek screen, this does not happen. Once I have the continuous audio connection, a simple press of the headset button reverts all to normal. Hopefully there will be some information here to allow a hack of the audio gateway problem.
i just tried to reproduce this on my mda pro with jabra 800...it worked..actually it is my feeling it worked ecactly every other time.but this is ok too, if one knows it you can tell by the noise in the headset if its connected or not..amazing...what a useful information...great! thanks for posting...interesting no one else jumped on it yet...the question now is how to get an incoming call into the headset...
So you're saying you can listen to audio over the headset or something?
V
vj: thats exctly right...isn't that amazing? the moment you get the headset connected through bringing up skype with the voice tag, the headset stays connected until you disconnect it again by pressing the appropriate button on the headset..even if then you switch apps it stays on..you hear every system sound etc in the headset.obviously the sound is a noisy phone headset sound and sure has nothing to do with a2dp..but you hear...actually i just tried to do the trick with assigning a voice tag to media player...didn't work...but skype can initiate it and keeps it up...cool...
AndyME: give me a few mins and I'll show you a better trick... coming soon
V
you know what: i expected something like this from you when i saw that apparently you got nterested...lol...the good thing about this trick is: you do not have to restart the device to get into this mode..although i stll have not figured 100% out how to make it happen for sure...it kind of works sometimes and sometimes not...now i am curious to see what you are coming up with....lol...
Ok Andy, finally finished the webpage.
Please check it out here:
VJVolubilis
You basically want to try the -agon option. It should, I hope, transfer audio straight over to your headset. I hope.

Issues with my BT motorola headset and TyTN

I am encountering a problem where after some time (do not know how long exactly) my BT headset seems not to synchronize with my TyTN. So when an incoming call arrives I am unable to answer it using the BT headset. Also, when I try to use Voice dialing it efuses to use my BT headset.
Only when I do a soft reset it works.
any ideas?
I have the same problem with a SonyEricsson HBH-610A.
Some times the bluetooth stops it self and I have to activate it agan.
Today when I tried to install the headset again, it searched forever and then I got the message, "Problem with Internal Bluetooth Hardware" and a OK button??
Only when I do a soft reset it saves the problem.
It actually drives me nuts, because I want to answer calles when the TyTN is in its holster.
I am using a Plantronics 655 with my TyTN running VC 1.5 with the common registry hack and have similar problems but not exactly the same. I want to be able to initiate voice dialing via the headset but when VC repeats the command it comes through the phone speaker and not the headset which also means my confirmation of the command has to be through the phone rather than the headset. Also, when a call comes in my TyTN speaks the name and number of the calling party through the telephone speaker but only beeps in my headset. To me it should be speaking to me through the headset.
I'm trying to get down to the bottom of this issue so it can be resolved through coordinated pressure on the responsible party(s).
Any help I receive will go to help all BT users of VC on the TyTN.

Bluetooth Headset disconnects after 10secs

I use a SonyEricsson Bluetooth Headset HBH-PV705 with the TyTN.
It works fine so far, when using the phone.
But I want also all sounds to be played via the headset, so that I can use Skype with the headset.
Therefore I disabled the voicedialing-software (Cyberon Voice Dial) with the BLUETOOTH VOICE COMMAND OFF Hack.
The Voicedialing does not start anymore, when I push the button on the headset and I can here, that audio is completly redirected to the headset.
However after 10 seconds the headset disconnects again and audio is played via the speaker again.
I tried several headsets already!
Does anybody have an idea whats going wrong here?
Thanks so much!
I haven't searched through hear yet, but I have a similar problem, just lasts longer then 10 seconds before it switches back. and for some reason voice command doesn't initialize (though i haven't tried the whole process again)
Does really no one know that problem? Does redirection of audio to a headset work on your TyTN?
BT stereo earphones & annoying voice command bug
Check this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=354050&highlight=#354050
ulischultz, I found the reg hack for voice command didn't work to correct this either. This BT/A2DP situation is a known bug, hopefully to be fixed with ROM update.
Hi guys can you make a test with the trial version of this software and se if it solves the problem:
www.teksoftco.com and download the trial version of BlueMusic from the product section. A detailed description on how to install and how to use it on the website.
Cheers,
Raul
That looks very nice, but does not have any effect!
After 10secs the sound is switching back to the speaker!
The problem is than at a lower level so i think it should be fixed with the next RUU .
This means that it worked on your tytn?( i mean that it routed corectly the voice)
Cheers,
Raul Tinca
No, it did not. It seemed to activate the headset somehow, because I was able to hear some noise, but the sound was still played via the speaker. Only after pressing the button on the headset, the sound was redirected, but only for 10secs.
Where can I get the RUU-Update, and how will I be informed about it, when it arrives?
"the sound was redirected, but only for 10secs"
this is what i wanted to hear
Seems like if they fix the bug in the rom the software would run on the tytn also (after pushing once the headset button - as presented in the help file there are devices that need it to be pushed and some that don't).
Cheers,
Raul
use the btagext.dll extracted from the dopod 9000 wwe ext rom and copy it over the original one in the windows dir, then soft reset...
That solved the problem for me.
topogigi: Where can I get that file? I will give it a try!
rain: I have a original HTC TyTN in german language! Is there any place where I can check for a new software by my self?
For btagext.dll you should give it a search here on xda-dev or ask an Dopod device owner to extract it for you.
For software the hardware configuration is not that much different from the Wizard or Prophet so any software that works on this device will have to work on yours also. pocketgear, mobihand, pocketland.de to give a few examples of websites where you can look for software and download free trial versions. There are also freeware websites. Just google as there are plenty of them at the moment
Cheers,
Raul
So is there anyone who can send me that file? So that I can test it?
Thanks very much!
Here it is...
Hi,
Am having the same issue, I copied over the file but it has not helped, were there any other files you copied over. (I did reset)
Cheers.
A solution is finally found!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=59918
Thanks for the post but I do not really think this is a solution to the overall issue. It may help in just listening to audio but it takes away some functionality, that being able to initiate voice command or voice dialling.
[EDIT]
Here is what I found;
Adding the DWORD string "VoiceCmdDuration = 86400" (86400 = 24hrs) under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand
passes the audio stream to the headset, for my issue where Voice Command was timing out on me before finishing what it was saying etc... this has worked fine, also, if not using Voice command a single press on the headset button passes Audio to it, second press disconnects.
I also changed this to value to 60 (seconds) after which the audio timed out and did not seem to start form zero again once initiated but I will need to test this some more. In the mean time I have entered some ridiculous figure to keep it running as I want, again, more testing and time will tell if this drains the battery any quicker.
I did NOT install BTAudioOn as mentioned in the other thread.
Hi cieplowski - how did your testing go? I got my V1605 on Friday and think I have the same issue with Voice Command. When I press & hold the button on my bluetooth headset it starts Voice Command and accepts my voice tag but almost immediately the sounds revert to the PDA speaker and I hear the response through the PDA and not my headset.
If your hack works and doesnt drain the battery then I'm extremly greatful
Thanks
Hi coe62,
Well, I used it over the weekend and it worked fine, I did not notice any abnormal battery drain etc....
Remember, all I have done is add
DWORD string "VoiceCmdDuration = 86400" (86400 = 24hrs) under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand
Nothing else, no additional programs etc....
This tweak works by basically not disconecting the audio feed to the headset until the button is pressed again or the set time runs out. I am pretty sure that the time set runs from a soft reset so I have left mine as a huge value, 6000000 (I think)
Other findings are;
After voice call the Audio stream swithces back to the phone, this is great for me as I do not have to remember to press the button again to disconnect it hence saving battery power on the headset itself.
TomTom passes all Audio to the headset also.
Let me know if it works on yours.
Hi cieplowski - no joy I'm afraid. made the reg change and then reset but after this the headset pairs ok but all commands still come through the V1605 speaker and not the headset.
Only thing I can think is that I used the wrong DWORD value - should it be a hex or decimal value ?
thanks

HELP...Bluetooth Headset disconnects after ending a call

Hi everyone
I have Eten M700 with WM6 ..
I tryed couple of bluetooth headsets (regular, not stereo) and i was able to pair all OK & make and recieve calls
I was even able to divert all sounds to headset to listen to my music (using either btIO or Blue Music)
I also have MS voice commander 1.6 US & it works through bluetooth without problems
I still have one problem:
when i end a phone call (touching red screen dialpad button or by hardware button) or even by waiting for the person on the other line to hang up..then my headset disconnects (i do not see the headset icon on top right of dialpad) and on the next phone call i have to restart pairing by pressing the headst button (it should start automatically & not disconnect)
i do not have to enter pairing code but it is still one extra step that i did not have to do with other phones..also, i miss some calls because when it disconnects i may not hear my phone speaker ringing as i will be away or driving
Does anyone else have the same problem?
Any fix (software, cab or reg tweak) out there to keep the bluetooth headset connected and paired inbetween calls (not disengaging after a call ends)
Thanks
I have the same problem, though i use my DS-220 as a wireless stereo also , i have no problem using it as one or another (handsfree/stereo headset) but as soon as i'm listening to something and i answer a call, sometimes, the headset disconnects itself after a call and i also have to push the button on the headset to connect it again - but not every time, best solution to resolve this problem for 70% of occasions was to uninstall Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 which was messing up with the BT on my phone, since it uses the handsfree's talk/end button as it's own "engage" button, but still, sometimes, this error occurs
I was wondering, if someone of u has working BT Widcomm or any other better BT stack (better than the microsoft bull*hit) and would mind PMing me the link, I could try it out and see, if that's the solution
BT new fix needed
This dsconnection has been happening with me even before MS voice command installation
i did not notice difference with it installed, i am alble to make commands without bluetooth droping & i give my commands through the BT headset without any registry hacks (read something about people having to give commands through phone speaker not headset) i do not have that problem
my only issue is the dropped connection after finishing a phone conversation (by ending a call or other side ending it)
I need a good developer to fix that & also, maybe work on dr.Yar BT software that shows sender/reciepient ID and file progress. that software shows blank white pop-up window when recieving files from some devices.. maybe also add a clickable line to make BT discoverable or hidden to the menu list there
i use BT only for regular mono headset & file transfer, i route music to my mono headset with BlueMusic v2 sometimes too.
If these 2 issues are fixed im all set (droped with calls & ID/progress blank window in Dr.Yar)
Thanks for looking
nothing
no one has solution for this???
