i have this problem with contacts where if you hold up/down the directional pad to scroll through contacts long enough until the big letters show up on the screen and then pick a letter, no matter what you pick, it always takes you to the very last contact. the same thing happens if i tap on the three letter groupings near the top of the main contacts screen...always jumps to the last contact. seems like it's not recognizing how the contacts are stored in the database.
i've tried three different roms...the newest htc, i-mate, dopod and same thing. i input all my contacts into mail2web free exchange service via a pc browser using display as "first last" and then have it sync automatically with my x01ht.
any ideas?

Under the contacts menu of the streak everything is fine, but if I use another app or widget that access' my contacts, such as facebook sync or picture dial, I have multiple entries for each person, none of which are what is shown in my actual contacts list. For example someone has their phone number, email and picture (synced from facebook) in my actual contacts list, but in the program theres 3 versions, one with email and picture, one with just email and one with phone and email. It means when i try and use picture dial I cant select one that all the info it needs.
I also noticed that in the actual contacts list it doesnt seem to matter what sync options i set or what sub group im currently supposed to be looking at, it always shows the same contacts. For instance it won't show my gmail contacts even if i tell it to. It doesn't bother me, but I don't know if the two issues are related.
Any ideas anyone? Is there anyway to bulk get rid of all contacts? Then i could just get my computer to sync all the contacts back on again, though I'd have to go through and link them to facebook again so I'd rather not if i can avoid it.
Any help appreciated!
Hi guys,
Just a couple of questions, I got android on my phone and loving it at the minute. However there are a couple of things that are annoying me and really getting stressed over it.
First the contacts - The 'people' opens up and says at the top ALL however its only showing contact which I have no categorised. If I scroll to categories at the bottom the click one i can find the remaining contacts in there. How can I get them all on the first page??
Second calendar, I set up facebook on the phone via the 'people' and now the it has synced everyone’s birthdays to my calendar. Now i use my phone alot for work purposes and use it do have all my appointments and meetings, but is now filled with birthdays, is there anyway i can turn this off, or get rid of them??
Cheers
Shane

Click to collapse
when you have the contacts list open, press the menu button and select 'view' you can then choose what contacts to view.... google, phone, sim, twitter and facebook are the usual options

That still doesn't work, it only shows the contacts which are not in groups. The ones that are in groups do not show up? even tho the phone (135) is ticked??
I have my contacts synced with my Google account, but it throws every single email/number I have ever used/sent email to the phone. If I try to send a text and push a particular letter, I get every single email address that starts with that letter and then I get various contacts information. That's a bit too much information.
I don't know how I had it synced with my iPhone, but if I push "A" then it only gives me the contacts that I have (which are synced with my Google account) phone numbers* for my texts app. On email, it will first bring up the most contacted (that what it seems like) beginning with that letter.
On the G2, I get the same entire list in no particular order for both the text and email app. I can't seem to only include just the contacts that I had on the iPhone previously. * I did figure out how to disable it showing contacts without numbers, so my call list now looks correct, but is still a mess when I try to send a text/email.
Does this make sense?
Essentially:
On the text app-- I only want the numbers of my contacts that have been synced with Google that phone numbers. These are the contacts I have located on google.com/contacts.
On the email app-- I would prefer to only have the email contacts that I often communicate on top of the list, but if that's not possible, I can live with typing in more letters to fine tune my address.
The first part is killing me. I don't want to have to type out the contact's name when sending a text when I'm used to doing it one (sometimes two) letters previously.
I had also tried to sync my FB account but quickly undid that since it just added all my Facebook friends on there (a lot of them have numbers, but I don't want them on my phone). With iPhone, it would only sync information/picture if I had that contact already on my Google contacts and on my phone.
Should I just wipe the phone and resync again? I just got it, so there's no real data on it for me lose. Would that solve anything?
I'm syncing from a gmail account.
I've successfully filtered my contacts to display only those from a particular group and to only display ones with phone numbers. Panning up and down the list is fine and works as I want.
However, if I use the search bar at the top, it seems to use "all contacts" instead of my new customized view.
This is annoying as email addresses are popping up when searching for a contact. I have tons of contacts so the easiest way is to hit a letter to search. Is there something I'm missing?
When entering a name in the “to” field in a new email, auto complete will find names that have been previously sent completed emails on the phone. However if the contact you are trying to send an email to has never been utilized, and you press “search directory”, it does not find any entries. This happens even if you only use one letter and you know that there might be 50 to 100 contacts with that first letter being in their address or name.
This is very frustrating.
Also, the auto complete field apparently does not synchronize with the auto complete field in Outlook on the computers
obviously I’m using Windows phone 10 with new Outlook, and using office 365 with all the updates on computers. Also my contacts are in a hosted exchange account and that is the phone book that I am utilizing for contacts on the phone.
Microsoft store no help
any suggestions or recommendations?
Try setting up your Exchange account using the Advanced option, I couldn't get mine to work properly till I used this option and entered all the details manually. When I search my Exchange contact list (company with over 1500+ contacts) it takes less than 1sec to find them, compared to Touchdown for Android that used to take 10 seconds to find my most used contacts....
That worked!
I also have 1500 contacts a it was a big problem.
Thank you so much!!!
