Hello,
i've a xda and use it with my d2 vodafone card, and everything works with it allright.
I want to buy me an xda II, do anyone knows wether it works too with an d2 vodafone card? Or is there something like a simlock, can I use internet with gprs an the all stuff people with O2-Germany can use?
I'm happy for all answers that can help me.
hi,
my t-mobile mda-II works without any problems with the d2-vodafone card. You can use every kind of connection you want. No SimLock on my device!
But you can´t use gprs with a callya card you need a real card.
regards
AleX
thanks
hi alex,
thanks for your answer.
I think xda II and MDA II are the same in everything. So I think I can buy me an Xda II without any fear.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo excited.........
Bye...
Connecter, I would be wary about buying the xda2 if you need to use it on another service providers network, it seems people are having an awful job getting them unlocked by O2, now I dont know what kind of Vodafone sim you have but it certainly isnt O2 so make sure before you hand over the loot.
now i'm confused
Sooooo,
now i'm confused.
Is there anyone who can tell me if the xda II works with my german provider "D2 Vodafone"?
I wanna have a xda II, but I also want to use my "D2" provider, and I want use all features of the xda II.
Can someone help me???
Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi
I do have the same issue with SIM lock or not, I want to use it on a swiss network.
I just wrote to the support of O2 Germany (where I got mine from), they replied that XDA2 does not have a SIM lock.
So I should be possible to use it on any network.
Why you don´t buying the mda-II Device? I can garantie that it works!
regards
AleX
MDAII works fine
Hello,
i bought a T-Mobile MDA II. There is no simlock on my device. Web-Browsing with GPRS ist easy to set up. The only problem i have is to set it up to send and receive MMs-Messages. But i'm still working on it.
Regards
Markus

Don't be. O2 in the UK sells the XDA II with a SIM lock, while O2 Germany sells the German version of the XDA II without a SIM lock (or so I've heard).
The MDA II also has no SIM lock, and at least in Germany is considerably cheaper than the XDA II. I got mine brand new from eBay for 560 Euro without contract.
You can easily flash the O2 firmware to an MDA II (for example, if you want the homezone indicator).
Cheers
Daniel
an unlocked xda2/mda2/qtek2020
should work with just about any gsm provider there is
like an unlocked nokia telephone does
Does MDA II have english OS or German?
alex
Hi!
I have the possibility to get a cheap O2 XDA Trion and want to use it instead of my Blackberry 7100v.
I am not sure if I can update the O2 XDA to a HTC original Firmware and then install the BB connect from Vodafone (our companies provider).
Is this possible?
Or do I have to flash to a Vodafone Rom?
Thank you.

BB Connect only likes a gprs connection. for some reason, it does not like umts. you will need to force a gsm/edge connection to keep bb connected. I do this when I need bb connect and I enable umts to surf, etc.
For all those fans of Blackberry out there, looks like another component to add to your Hermes phone.

Looks like the link doesn't have a DOT COM after xda-developers. I do not have permission to login to the FTP site. Is this site public to the forum members?
I currently have the BB Connect off the Vodapone site as well. I am hoping the Dopod version fixes the GSM only connection. My BB Connect does not stay connected under UMTS. I have to force a GSM connection then I am good.
provided link is broken. there is no such a file there

Hmm thanks for the download. I am currently using blackberry for the nokia and it works.(both BIS and BES) I have moved the SIM card over to the dopod but it doesn't connect to the server.
The service remains as stopped and you can't restart the service. I have also gone to the blackberry "identity" front page and it indicates PIN is pending, IP address = no connection. I can surf on PIE fine and UTMS is forced to be off. What can be wrong you think? Is it something to do with the extended ROMs still missing something?
BY the way,
i am using a 1.23.707.1 ROM, Radio 1.06.00.10, bootloader 1.04
Has anyone sucessfully connected to blackberry on the dopod? if so, what's your ROM number btw? Did you have to install Pof's SuperCID?

From the looks of it, you are using your phone in the U.S., and since you discuss UMTS, that means you can only be on Cingular. The problem with BB Connect and UMTS is not related to the software. It was confirmed by a Cingular rep on HoFo that Cingular has not turned on Blackberry access over UMTS yet, as they have no devices out that will use it. They plan to turn this on shortly, as they will probably push out BB Connect for the 8525. Don't pull your hair out trying to get the software to work over 3G, Cingular doesn't support it yet.

I don't think I am pulling my hair out, but I figured that Cingular did not support the UMTS/BB Connection yet. I have been fine with using BB Connect over GSM/GPRS.
Hi guys,
Unfortunately i am not in the US. I am in Singapore, have 3G/UTMS turnedoff so that i am only on GPRS. But it still doesn't work.
On the identity page, the PIN is still pending and IP Address still show's No Connection.

Did you use the desktop software to generate a PIN? BB Connect does not support over-the-air activiation.

I have problem getting blackberry client to work on X01HT that I had bought last week.
Currently I owned a dopod 838 pro and X01HT. I had no problem installing and getting it to work on dopod 838 pro but when I install the client on X01HT, the blackberry service will show "not connected" then "stopped". No matter how many time I restart the service / reset/ flash the unit to other carrier's rom or different bootloader version. It just doesn't work.
The X01HT has Supercid and are able to flash to any rom without problem. Just could not get the BB client working.
I had tried using different version of BB client 2.1.2.20 and 2.1.2.16.
Wonder is there is anything different hardware wise btw 838pro and X01HT apart from the keypad layout.
Both 838pro and X01HT has dopod English 1.23.707.4 bootloader 1.04.
I had also test flashing the 838pro and install the same BB client and it works on every single rom that I flash to including HTC, Cingular, Imate..
Can someone please help me. Thanks.
What airtime provider were you using on your dopod? I know that bb connect only works if the phone / pda you are using it on has the stock rom installed for the airtime provider that you have your BB contract with.
For example, I have a Vodafone BB contract. If I put a Cingular or O2 ROM on my pda and try and re-install BB connnect I will get the same error as you. The carriers tend to block devices that dont have the correct ROM installed.
They might be true, but I have a Treo 750v (Vodapone ROM) on a Cingular network and BB Connect works fine.
Thank you for your kind input. I am using the same sim card swapping between the 2 units when I am testing. As mentioned, both 838pro and X01ht are using the same rom, both are supercid. The only difference is Hermes 100 / 200 which hardware specifications are the same.
Do you think if flashing the MDA Vario II rom on X01HT might make it to work?
i.e. At least get the PIN being register on the BES server, coz right now, after I install the BB client on X01HT, not only it didn't connected, when I look @ the PIN is said "Pending".
By the way, I am using T-mobile carrier in US.
X01HT Blackberry issues
Hi Mate, I have the same problem, ROM 1.23.707.4, Radio, 1.06.. did you ever find a solution?
Please forgive me if this has been covered. I have scoured the forums with no avail. I am trying to get Blackberry connect to work on Cingular. I am using a Cingular 8525 latest Cingular rom unlocked with the blackberry connect unlimited plan. During installation of the bbc client, the service drop down box is grayed out. Once installed, the service shows stopped, pin pending, ip address not connected. Any ideas? I have tried the latest HTC South African rom, all different versions of the bbc client software, and various apn settings (blackberry.net). It seems like the bbc client is locked to specific roms. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem, never solved it, therefore I sold my Tytn.
I believe the version 100 (XDA Trion) doesn't work with BB.
I have bbconnect running on latest HTC ROM on Vod V1605, works very well.
dropped in first time, this is a corporate account connected to our BES server not a Provider BB Service. I do however have a BB account through Vodafone to access the corp BES.

Hi,
I have the same problem with two MDA VARIO II (T-Mobile (Germany) Version of Hermes device):
I called T-Mobile and got the information that HTC changed something on there device so that the Blackberry Software client will not work any longer.
This problem is very new and T-Mobile works with RIM and HTC to solve this problem.
The problem is that the Protocol version will not displayed on the last page of the Blackberry client and the client will not create a blackberry pin.
The very friendly T-mobile guy (Blackberry support line) explained my that there will be a new blackberry client or a rom / radio update to solve this problem.
For me I gave back both devices and will wait some time until the problem will be solved.
Perhaps someone here has another solution.
