I've paired up both devices, and have tried adding *99# as a telephone number, but this doesnt seem to work.

Using XDAII as bluetooth modem with MAC

Hi Everyone,
I have desparately searched for the answer to the above question. Has anyone had success using the XDAII as a wireless modem on MAC OSX 10.3.7 ??
I believe I require a GPRS modem script. Where can I find the appropiate files and the procedures to get it up and running.
I previously used a nokia phone, connected by bluetooth and dialled *99# (Vodafone AU). The Mac doesn't recognise XDA as mobile phone but PDA only.
I bought the device for this application. Would appreciate your help.
I am running:
ROM: 2.06
Radio: 1.18
Mac OS9/OSX - Mobile Phone Scripts - GPRS
This guy has a number of modem scripts for the mac and a bit of information on how to configure 'Internet Connect'.
http://www.taniwha.org.uk/
I'm still trying to get my newly acquired XDA to work with a PowerBook G4 (10.3.7) but with no success. It was working fine with a SonyEriccson.
As you mentioned the Mac will only recongise the XDA as a PDA not as a wireless modem - this obviously has something to do with it - though I haven't tried running the wireless modem software then bonding with the mac worth a try.
Let me know if you have any success.

GPRS thru laptop

I have a XDA II with 2k3 which is getting connected to GPRS Internet. I have also configured my HTC modem in XP.
Could someone help me with the USB modem dialer so that I can get onto Internet from my laptop thru HTC modem GPRS? It should ask for username, password and APN.
Thanks in advance

For those, who want to connect via BT stack. Yes it is not so clear about the APN,but this will connect via your default internet connection, that you're using on the go(The APN is described there):
1.Pair your Himalaya with a PC.
2.Start the Wireless Modem app.and choose Bluetooth. Then tap to Start button. Your device must be in Discoverable mode!
3.Now in computer click to the 'My Bluetooth Places' icon on the desktop.
4.Open the connected Himalaya and click to the SSA service.
5.Now the connection window will appeared. Choose the *99# as a dialed number and click to Dial.
That's it.

Help - T-mobile MDA Modem Setup

I am trying to setup my T-mobile MDA as a modem. I would like to be able to use it as a USB or Infared modem. Can someone point me in the direction on detailed instructions of how to do this so I can get internet through my phone on my computer? Thanks for your time.
Hope this helps
Here is what works for me
====
Not sure if these will be spefic for your device, I called T-Mobile to get all the settings the guy guided me though everything.
---
To get instructions and get to Drivers-----
Insert the CD that came with the MDA and Explore the cd, on the cd open the folder OEM>APPS>Drivers>USB Modem> this is where you will find the drivers and instructions
open the word document inside and that should give you some instructions for your device
After you do all the installation you will need to go to Control panel>Phone and modem options(on your PC), then go to the modems tab double click the HTC USB Modem then the Advanced tab in the Extra initialization commands box put in
AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com","",0,0
And then to test the connection you must have the MDA pluged into the computer then on the MDA go to Start>Programs>Modem Link, then Activate. All of my settings in Modem link are
Connection is: USB
Baud rate is: Unused
Access point name is: wap.voicestream.com
Hope everything on here works for you![/url]
Thanks

MDA Compact II modem setup probs

I'm trying to set up my Compact II as a modem for my Asus Eee (running XP) but having some difficulty. I have Activesync 4.5 installed, setup with the Compact II as my 2nd machine but not syncing with Outlook. When I use the Modem Link on the Compact II and Active it I then plug in and Windows tries to find a driver. I then insert my T-Mobile MDA Compact II CD-Rom (shared over the network) but it doesn't find a driver for it
I've successfully set this up on my Inspiron in the recent past so I know it should work, but I can't think what's causing the problem on my Eee. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Tony
Fixed my own problem! For anyone struggling to get their Compact II Modem Link function working in the future you have to force the Have Disk button during the installation wizard. Windows doesn't detect the folder with the modem driver in on the CD-Rom. The driver isn't signed so you'll have to accept the security warning. Works a treat with dial up GPRS settings over the USB cable
Hi! I'm also have the same situation. GPRS settings and ets in MDA - OK, BT connection to comp - OK, but error in modem link.
Could smb throw correct driver? Thanks!

Do you have your original CD-Rom? It should be on there but you'll need to browse to it manually.
Which model MDA do you have?
I'm sorry - have no time to visit! I haven't original CD-ROM - this is one and the main problem. I have MDA Compact II T-Mobile, with original ROM soft (11/14/05), no upgrades, no reflash. If smb have bloody driver - throw me pls!
