Save photos to Storage Card\My Pictures? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Is there a way to save Camera photos to "\Storage Card\My Pictures"? No matter how much I tweak the registry I can't get Camera to save outside the "\Storage Card\My Documents\XXXX" folder.

My Documents Remapping

Is it possible to remap your My Documents folder to say \storage card\my documents\ like you can on win xp?

Help I need to remove SD Card reg hack for \storage card\my documents\my pictures

Hi
I did a registry hack some time ago so that the camera would save all pictures to \storage card\my documents\my pictures, now I have lost the original hack settings and I can not find them either on the web, or find them within the registry.
When you select save to SD Card within the camera settings, it sets a default folder 'my pictures' on the root of the SD Card, this is where 'pictures and videos' opens on the SD Card.
My registry hack over-rides this and saves all pictures to \storage card\my documents\my pictures, so I can not view them in 'pictures and videos'.
Has anyone else used the registry hack to change where the photos are saved too?
Can you tell me where in the registry I can modify this?
I really want to get rid of this now but I can not change the default folder on the SD Card.
Thanks
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image]
value of "Saveto" = 0 will save images to main memory
value of "Saveto" = 1 will save images to storage card

I believe these are just the registry settings used within the settings of the camera when you select either Main Memory or Storage Card.
When you select Storage Card a new folder 'My Pictures', is created on the SD Root, this is the default folder for 'pictures and videos'.
I added a reg hack that saves directly to storage\my documents\my pictures so over riding the camera settings and the default folder created by selecting storage within the camera.
Because of this my 'pictures and videos' does not open up the photos taken and stored on the storage card. It defaults to the empty 'my pictures' folder on the SD Root, I need to remove the reg hack or modify it so 'pictures and videos' opens my photos on the storage card.
Try this
First set your Camera to Save To: Memory Card
HKLM - Software - HTC - Camera - Image - SaveFolder -
Specify your desired Folder Name and no need to include the /Storage Card/My Documents parameter, it is automatically save to /Storage Card/My Documents and you have to enter only the Folder Name.
Ex.
HKLM - Software - HTC - Camera - Image - SaveFolder - My Camera
now all pictures taken woudl be dumped to /Storage Card/My Documents/My Camera

Damn, if WM5 always creates My Documents by default, why then does 'pictures and videos' create a Root copy of 'My pictures' folder and open itself there?
The camera does not save the photos there, yet 'Pictures and Videos' expects the photos to be there, sounds like another 'Microsoft Screw Up' again.
You can use the registry to make photos not go into \Storage Card\My Documents\<dir>. YOu do this by setting the SafeFolder registry entry to be "..\<dir>".
For example:
HKLM - Software - HTC - Camera - Image - SafeFolder = ..\My Pictures
This causes them to be stored in \Storage Card\My Pictures. IT works because Windows will dynamically interpret a .. inside a filename. It ends up being \Storage Card\My Documents\..\My Pictures, which is the same as going into My Documents, and then back out again.
Hope this makes sense.

ringtone folder

I have some mp3's that i'd like to use as ringtones.
i did this registry hack but it doesnt seem to work on jasjar/WM5.
first, i had \My documents\My Music\. Didnt work
Then, i put them into \q\ and it still couldnt see them.
hkcu\controlpanel\soundcategories\incall\directory
hkcu\controlpanel\soundcategories\ring\directory
\windows\rings works but not enough space there for ringstones.

Videos and Pictures on Storage Card

On the storage card, videos and pictures all get lumped together into the My Documents folder.
Has anybody managed to force videos into My Videos and pictures into My Pictures? I am not having luck. I tried many registry keys, but it does not make any difference.
BTW - for a path to work correctly, does it have to have a backslash at the end? - i.e. Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures\ - or is the last backslash optional?
Thanks
Joe

Brand new HD2 user on Tmobile USA, questions

I'm having trouble understanding how to get videos, photos and music on the device. I am using an iMac and Double twist is sucking.
Can't you plug it up as a mass storage device and transfer stuff that way? I don't have a Mac so I can't comment on doubletwist.
Well yes I can use it that way but the photos and videos don't show up in that section I have to go to file manager and launch them from there. The music is actually showing up though. So not sure what the issue is.
make sure you are putting the pictures in \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures.
also, if you want to keep the pictures in a "non-standard" folder, you can start the album and press the Left Softkey named "Albums" and pick your custom folder album from the list. once the album opens, press the Right Softkey named "Menu" and "Set Album as Favorite". after that step, this album will be displayed on the Photos and Videos tab of Sense on the Home Screen.
Should music and photos be name My Music and My Photos?
please read my post again. i have specifically mentioned the preferred naming convention for photos, i.e. \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures.
for music, i have noticed that the HTC audio manager is not so picky. it is quite lenient...i keep my music in \Storage Card\My Documents\Music, but the convention is \Storage Card\My Documents\My Music. however, your observations agree with mine, because you are also stating that your music is showing up just fine. so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
go ahead and follow my directions for the photos and videos and you'll be fine.
HOWEVER, if you want pictures and videos subsequently captured on your HD2 to fall into the same album, then things get a little tricky. to achieve this, you have TWO options:
1. stick with \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures (for pictures) and \Storage Card\My Documents\My Videos (for videos) and use a tool called "Schap's Advanced Config" to set the save folder for the camera to these same folders.
2. if you don't want to touch the camera's output folders, then use \Storage Card\DCIM\100MEDIA as the folder for your existing pictures and videos.
i prefer option 1 because the folder names remain descriptive and you can separate the videos from the pictures and thereby keep things a bit more organized.
Not to sound dumb but I downloaded the config tool but no idea how to get it running on my phone...
Ah I got it, nm.
However HTC's Picture/Video section is not pulling either from \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures or \Storage Card\My Documents\My Videos even those I assigned them using Schap's.
Upping for help, hehe.
Download Syncmate here: http://www.sync-mac.com/syncmate.html . But you can still drag-and-drop if you want to.
did you follow the steps in bold from my earlier post (see the quote below in this post)?
if you follow these steps, HTC Sense will set the chosen album so that it can be browsed directly from the relevant tab in the home screen.

This seems more a hack not a fix, there's no easy way to get this working?
And movies just don't show up at all.

lol! a hack would be something involving jumping through unnatural hoops such as editing the registry (which you were fine with via schap's advanced config) or editing configuration files and what not!
this is no hack my friend, it is a functionality directly accessible from a menu within the album application. it means that HTC designed it so that the device begins with a default folder that you can change to a custom album folder as you please. once your chosen folder is set, its video and picture contents will show up in the relevant tab in Sense.
it really is easier than it sounds, just try it, it takes 20 seconds to do it (i know because i do it every time after flashing any ROM) and then it is all set until the next hard reset or the next time i flash a new ROM.
no hack sir! just the way things are!
