Hey guys 'n gals
I'm having a prob synchronising my Hermes, either through a usb cable or over bluetooth.
It connects fine, I can explore device and all, but never goes over the "looking for changes" - it just returns a very clear (!) "Synchronization error". No other error code...
The ActiveSync I'm using is 4.1, by the way, and have tried to re-install the driver to no avail.
How do I fix this? It was working a couple of weeks ago, and now no go! Looking back the only thing I did to it was to get it CID unlocked (as described in the wiki), but I think it had stopped working then too....

I have a Siemens SX56, locked to AT&T.
I downloaded the new 1.1 ROM, (Jeff's courtesy)
and began the upgrade.
It started, My SX56 said "Upgrading It will take about 5 minutes...."
Then,
I got an error message on my computer about com ports not being available, it lost the active sync connection, and now my SX56 is hung on the same message: "Upgrading It will take about 5 minutes....."
Of course, I'm unable to connect back.
Any suggestions?
I'm trying to be able to use it with T-Mobile.
I was unable to get any results by pushing the hard/battery resets.

"COM ports not being available"... Are you using ActiveSync via serial cable or cradle?
If you really cannot connect anymore, I guess you have to use an SD-card and the bootloader method to get back to a working state. But do try to reset the device and restart Programme A., it may just pick up again. I've seen that happen here once.
Try doing a soft reset then put it back in the cradle, the upgrade should restart automatically.

Were or are you using a USB hub? If so that may be your problem. The SD Card method works very well and very reliably. No comms outside of the device. I found many times whenn trying to do file xfers to the XDA that for no reason in the middle of transferring a file the connection would be lost.
I haven't had this problem with 2003 and AS 3.7.

Hi guys, at the mo i have my phone in boot loader with the 4 colours and usb on the bottom left..
i am looking for the rom file.....currently i have tried using : -
Qtek_9100_RUU_Prodigy_10107105_Qtek_WWE_ship.exe from ftp://xda-developers.com/Uploads/HTC_Wizard/Roms/Qtek/ but when i load it says
'The application has failed to start because RAPI.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem'
have also tried the T-mobile one and it says the same thing as above
so what do i do now?????????? someone please give me a direct link to the correct file as i cnt find it ne where

According to the Northern Hill Software web site, these kind of RAPI.dll errors can occur because you don't have ActiveSync installed on your PC (or your installation is corrupt).
Man, serious déja vu... I'm POSITIVE I've had this same discussion with someone else in the past on these forums before. :S

I also experienced this problem. But after disconnecting the usb connection and after soft resetting the mda the old installed version worked again.
For me the problem was that i didn't unlocked the CID. I first had to unlock the CID (with the MDA vario) to be able to update an other rom.

I hav an Xda lli and I have just installed activesync that came with my phone.
When I plug my xda into the comp via usb it says connecting then comes up with a message saying
Critical communications have failed to start. Try reseting the mobile device then connect again.
I have reset it a few times and also reinstalled the software but I am still getting the same problem.
I really need to sycronise to keep all of my diary on the computer and it's giving me a real headache.
If anyone can help me I would be really greatful.

I have searched for the last hour and can't find a solution. I have an I-mate K-Jam purchased new in October 2005, have never upgraded the ROM, BIOS, or anything on it. I am trying to get it be recognized with Activesync so that I can update the BIOS as described in this forum. Here is what I have tried so far:
Uninstalled Activesync and reinstalled 4.5
Tried on a seperate computer
Stopped all Firewall services
Hard reset the k-jam
Tried different USB cable
Tested USB port and Cable with another device and they work fine
Is there any other way to update the BIOS without using Activesync?
Someone please help me.

Well i have been searching for almost 8 hrs and i have not found the solution to bring back to life my beloved universal it does not turn on (but i can put it in bootloader mode) there ir no way i can't get the PC with xp to recognize my universal it all started when i was so happy that i had linux (qtopia) running in my universal with the phone and sms partially working the i got an incoming call that i could not answer so i restarted my uni to boot wince and BANG no sound and the microfone wasnt working either in WINCE so i hard-reseted to see if that helped, WELL it didnt so i reflash another WM6 ROM and that didnt help, then i tougth that flashing WM5 would help and BANG now my universal is bricked the process of flashing was completed but when i hard-reseted the phone it would not turn on so i hard-reseted again and nothing so i put it in bootloader mode and thats how its been since yesterday morning, i spent hours looking for the answer and nothing this is what i've tried so far hopefully somenoe with more knoleage than me will provide me with help (Just so you know im not new to flashing ROMS i've had in the past (3 wizards, 1 blue angel , 1 universal and 1 athena) all of them flashed by me with no problems whatsoever until i started with linux.

i always get an error that says "Can not open usb port" so i cant try the commands to get it out of bootloader mode.
i did kill the process wce***.exe and unclick the option in activesync "allow USB connection"
tried the utility made by buzz UNI_ExitBootloader and the same thing it says that port cannot be opened
flashing another ROM (wm6 or wm5)
i've tried all i have (3 wm6 witch i know they work because i have tried them all in my universal, 2 wm5 unknown if they work because i've had WM6 since day one),. i get diffent errors like CE ERROR or CONECTION ERROR , obvisouly due to the fact that my pc running xp and cant recognize my uni.
Im out of ideas i've hardreseted, softreseted, flash different roms, took out SIM and SD CARD, mtty is not working for me and my biggest concern is that my battery was at 50% when i flashed the last WM5 so if i keep trying the battery will die eventually and then i will not have any way to reflash or do anything with the phone and im in mexico so the closest person with another universal is 1000s of miles away fom me if anyone has a suggestion, link, program , info, rom or anything i will be more than greatful.
thanks for reading and if this get resolved it will be helpful to others with the same problem as me, meanwhile i would not downgrade to wm5 since that seems to have problems at least for me.

Try flashing using your SD card?
