Vario II ROM Upgrading Question - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

If I restore my phone from Sprite back up files after upgrading ROM, will the new updated ROM be retained or the old one will be used?
Cheers.

The updated ROM will be retained. But you must use device upgrade mode, you cant just restore after the ROM upgrade. See the Sprite FAQ for details

Factory Reset Question

Gid day All
Just a quick question on the Factory Resset or Hard Reset. If I do this on my HD2 will I have to re-install all of the patches/updates such as the SMS, Video (pink) SIM card etc which are offered on the HTC web sites? The same question for the ROM update (theres a new 1.66 avaialbe), do I have re-install all of the other updates after installing the new ROM?
Thanks
Kym
Firstly yes, a hard reset deletes EVERYTHING. Its back as it was when you bought it.
When you bought it, you then had to install the updates.
Secondly, nope. Unless it says its for that ROM. i.e. an update from rom 1.48 and below is not needed if you load 1.66.
An update for 1.66 and below, then yes.

lost zune backup: how to revert to previous rom ?

I upgraded to SFR some months ago but now I'd like to revert to a previous state (it was NODO when I bought it).
Unfortunately my PC "lost" the backup since it's not asking me anymore to revert to a backup. I remember it used to ask for it but now it stopped.
I checked "windows phone update" backup folder and it's empty
What can I do ?
Download any of the ROMs available in the ROM thread, should work just fine.I recommend the UK unbranded one.

Question in wrong place

hello,
my wife has an open lt15i, not branded and rooted with the latest official firmware. since about 2 weeks she is not able to call 2 numbers. unfortunately these numbers are quite important - they are from our 2 children. when she tries to call these 2 numbers she only hears a short snap or signal noise and that´s it.
as i have no clue where this comes from and ics is still a few weeks ahead i want to go back to the last firmware (.42). unfortunately i didn´t found if i loose everything when i use the flashtool to flash the last firmware.
so is it possible to flash .42 over .62 and keep all settings (contacts, call logs, sms, apps, settings, etc?)?
sorry if this is already asked and answered somewhere here, i read a lot - but didn´t found it.
thank´s a lot for your help!
brgds Deas
Sounds like you git the two numbers blockd on the phone
Try factory-reset, you will loose all data (settings etc. and not contacts)
From my sexy LT15i
Hi,
Yes, you can flash .42 baseband using flashtools
Just remember to make a backup before that.
BTW, as "TheHaso" mentioned, try factory reset first.
she didn´t allowed me to do it this weekend. she uses this phone also for her shop so i really understand her...
what i did so far is to ckeck if there are any numbers blocked on the phone - nothing that i could find. then i installed mybackup because this is the only one i found that does not need a rooted phone and did a complete backup to the local sd. so at least i have a backup of the data now.
i´ll try the factory reset hopefully tomorrow evening if i am allowed. supid question, but if that does not change anything, is the backup with mybackup enough to restore the phone to the exact state as it is now?
and about the downgrade to .42 - i read in the ics thread that you can selectively choose what to flash. if i remove data - will this work? or do i need to restore the mybackup after the downgrade?
sorry for all these questions, but i don´t want to play russian roulette with my wifes phone data...
thank´s a lot for your help!

1. I havent tried mybackup, but I think in trial mode, you might have some problems restoring your data in ICS! but should work on the same firmware.
2. As far as I'm concerned, selective installation was devised in order to make the released ICS work with flashtools and now it can be done with new flashtools v7 just in one step.
I reckon It won't be a good idea not to wipe user data while flashing ICS.
i had now time to play with the phone. and it is still working!
i was short before doing a factory reset, but then i had the idea to put the sim in another phone - surprise - i am still not able to call these 2 numbers! so it must be something provider related. will call them tomorrow...
then i did a downgrade with flashtool to .42 and i unchecked user data. the downgrade worked fine, everything is still there. and now i have a rooted arc!
thank´s a lot for your help!

we decided to change provider - now everything is working again. my wife can call all numbers!
i decided to upgrade the rooted phone again to the latest firmware, but i think i don´t did it right...
actually i wanted to do it on the phone, but the updater just said that there was an error and i should try it again. then i decided to do the upgrade via pc companion. it worked, but now i have a unrooted phone...
first question: what was my failure?
second question: when in a few weeks the official ics will be released - can i root my phone after the upgrade? or is this not possible with ics? basically i want to stay with the original firmware and just remove the bloatware.
thank´s a lot for your help!

[Q] I need help (messed up phone)

Hello, i have installed Aurora ICS (from Dzo) and i saw new post about restoring IMEI with different method. But because i restored IMEI with 5iromtoolbox i tried to go back to official rom (B526 Gingerbread). Update has failed so i tried to copy files from image folder from version 2.2. After that i tried other official rom; but with everything i try i can't update/downgrade my phone. My phone is completely messed up. It wont start up, i can't get into bootloader on my pc because i can't see the device. I really need help. Thank you!

Note 3 Flashing another country's rom to update

I have a rooted Note 3 SM N900 with a Pakistani android 4.4 rom. I am thinking of flashing an Indian rom to update as lollipop is still not available in my country. However I can't seem to find definite info about CSC. Should I directly flash it or do i have to change CSC?
and also How do I back up my internal storage+apps+data?
Nah, CSC doesn't mean much, if any at all, go on, flash the Indian ROM. For backup use Titanium like everyone does. However photos, music etc. won't be backed up with TB, so just use old copy method to your desktop, laptop, whatever is convenient.
What will matter is the EFS... it can get screwed up... so best thing to do is backup your current version (EFS especially - if you want to connect to your current mobile provider), and try a rom from a similar region (in your case India)... then if no baseband, etc, try flashing your backup EFS... otherwise revert back to your original rom.
Good luck!
