Hi All,
I currently have my Vario II setup with our company exchange server with push email which is proving to be pretty slick, but...
I use rules to sort my incoming emails into various folders such as 'staff', 'suppliers', etc etc.
When an email arrives in my general inbox without any triggering any of the rules I get the correct sound played and a notification up on the screen.
When an email gets moved by my rules into a folder other than 'Inbox' I don't seem to get any notifications and the email can easily sit there unnoticed for a day or so.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks,
Paul
have you noticed your battery drains alot faster now...I cant make it thru the day. At about 4pm my battery is dead. Exchange is very cool, cant live w/o it, but the battery drain is killing me.
Sorry, but I dont use rules...but when my messages go to my junk box on my PC I still get the notification on the Tytn that it arrived.

OK had my baby nearly a week now (1 week old Saturday).
I'd say definately well worth the outlay.
My e-mail is bugging me though.
Firstly, I have configured her to check for e-mails every 60 mins. Well it just ain't happening. I reckon she checks for my e-mails 2-3 times a day max. Of course I can go in at anytime and connect but, I want it to be automatic.
Secondly, my homermail wav file (e-mail notification works fine on SPV and xda 1) don't work all the time ? it plays sometimes but not all the time.
Lasty, when the server does check for mail, if I have cleared my pop3 account, through my pc then the nect check it downloads nothing and clears out all my e-mails, even if they are unread.
It's like if there is nothing on the server, it cleans my inbox on my xda 2.
I can understand why it happens but surely there are settings to prevent it (i can't find em). I like to keep some e-mails in my inbox, cus they can be useful. Sure they are on my pc but I want em locally and I don't want to sync my emails just my calender and tasks.
Cheers, Shire
PS still luv my baby, maybes I need a better e-mail application ?
Hi guys!
Nice skille community you've got here, I'm still browsing through all your previous posts, but I can't wait to ask you this:
I have long been looking for a solution (tweak or software) that would allow me to schedule an automated send/receive on my Hotmail account just the way it works on my regular POP accounts.
Any hints?
So far, I have kept MSN Messenger always on, which allows real-time e-mails reception. But I don't really like this workarround as it drains both my battery and my monthly data transfer allowance (don't know the word for that...).
However, if you were to tell me that this is indeed the only workarround, I would appreciate the answer to this: what are the parameters that would make my Wizard ring or vibrate, depending on which mode it's in, upon reception of a Hotmail e-mail? It does that just fine for POP accounts, but not for Hotmail (although it keeps vibrating whenenver someone pops online on MSN Messenger, which is a pain in the a..).
Well that's it for now, I truely hope you guys can help me out!
Thanks!

I truely wish this was a feature as well. I would love at the very least to be able to set a Hotmail retreival schedule. One of my biggest complaints!
There are several programs to check your Hotmail automatically:
e.g
PocketHotmail:
http://www.frieger.com/photmail/beta.html
HTTPMail Provider:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=9539
Well I paid and downloaded HTTP Mail.
At first it seemed I had found the solution I was looking for BUT the data consumption is simply enormous.
Your average send/receive with the regular Hotmail account (the one that cannot be automatically retrieved) uses 1,12 kb when there is no new mail.
Now, the same operation, still with no new message, consistantly uses more than 700 kb! That's basically horrific...
So back to square one, but 10€ lighter  !
Still, thanks very much for trying to help! But this really isn't a good solution...
Again, if anyone has another idea, please share ;-)!

I put this Pocke MSN wish list togther a while ago:
i) Allow proper notifications when new email arrives. i.e. Sound and vibrate, not just the a number of unread in the little a blue circle on the hotmail icon..
ii) Allow email to be sent immediately instead of having to got to "send and receive" each time.
iii) Allow me to send email attachments > 300K (or whatever the ridiculously small limit is).
iv) Auto sign-in for Messenger. Every time I loose my GPRS connection I have to remember to go back into messenger and sign-in again.

Live Messenger
Up.
I learnt yesterday about the new live messenger and its push capabilities. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to finally have a reliable solution for receiving my Hotmail e-mails immediatly and being notified.
I installed the latest, seemingly non-beta version of Live messenger and began testing it.
Well I was quite disapointed, but maybe (hopefully) I am missing something.
First, the push capability (sync setting on "as item arrives") comes nowhere near a Blackberry or Emoze solution. Well sometimes it does, but in average reception needed about two minutes. Not as fast as I had hoped, but I can live with that.
The main problem, however, is that they seem to have done it again :- I cannot get any notification working. The screen turns from "0 new e-mail" to "1 new e-mail" without any notification being triggered. I played arround with the settings for quite a while but have not been able to find a solution; searching the forum was just as vain.
Anyone any idea? Am I missing something here? No idea it is relevant, but I'm running an AKU1 version of WM5.
Thanks a lot for your help guys!

Hi. I am using an unbranded Hero on Voda in the UK and everything seems to be more or less fine, except... I have a strange email problem.
I have set up my POP3 account to check and deliver mail every five minutes (I don't use Gmail for this) and it works absolutely flawlessly except that every few days it simply stops receiving. The phone seems to poll as usual, but the mail just doesn't arrive, although it is there and later arrives in my Outlook inbox on my PC.
I have made no changes, installed no new apps or really done anything at all before the mail stops arriving. The only way around it is to remove the account and set up a whole new one, which is a pain - the main problem, though, is that I miss emails until such a time as I realise that it has stopped working.
Email is VITAl to me - does anyone have an idea as to what I can do to get around this please?
Many thanks, in advance.
download K-9 mail from the market place.
Try it using this program. If it contniues to fail after a few days, the issue is with the network or the server and we know where to look for issues.
If it works, then it's the HTC Mail program that is at fault, but you now have a program which does not have the fault and you can now receive your emails ok.
Are you killing any tasks, I have found that you need the HTC mail program running for it to poll for the mails.

I am only killing Tweet and Stocks, but otherwise nothing. Can the mail programme turn off itself for any reason? Besides, it is polling - just not actually collecting anything. Many thanks!
Same problem
I know its an old thread but I didn't want to start a new one yet.
I'm having the same problem with my BT email. Its OK for a week or so then just stops fetching the emails from the server. I delete the account, re create it and it works fine again.
Any thoughts?
I've noticed that mine sometimes doesn't alert when it downloads the email, I get an alert but the actual sync time is 10-20 minutes before.

This has got so bad that I have had to 'turn off' the HTC mail function and downloaded the free k9 app, which is actually better, as it automatically deletes messages from the phone when you delete them from the server (or read them on your desktop.) I recommend it...
have you checked whether your trash folder is full? I was getting the same, and then once I went in and delted all the mail from the trash folder, I started getting mails again. There doesn't seem to be a way of automatically deleting mails from the trash folder?
I am having real problems with my push gmail account.
I suspect I may have part of the answer but not all.
I am finding that sometimes emails are just not coming through as new emails.
In some cases when I send/receive or so an activesync it will even "see" that there are 1-3 email (ie it counts 0/3 etc) but will not bring them to the inbox.
I think that one way it gets confused is if, say, I have had a new email which it decided not to d/l and then I read it on the computer but I then get more emails from the same person replying about the same topic
Even if I get other new emails it just will not d/l any new ones until I have deleted the semi-unread/semi-new ones from the inbox - as you can imagine this would be a real issue if they are ones I need to keep!
Another possible culprit I wondered was if the account was signed into at the time by Gmail Mansger in FireFox.
I tried sending one having disconnected GMM and it sent through a new one [admittedly I had deleted the prior non-fetched test ones by this stage.
It is driving me batty.
Anyone able to shed any light please?
I have played a fair bit.
If there is an email in my gmail account newer than on my phone but that I have read online that seems to screw up the downloading. It seems to see how many there are are I don't know where it puts them.
If I delete all these and then try to send one sometimes it works fine, other times I have to manually sync to get one and I can't find a pattern at all
Hey all.
I have tried Flexmail and found it wanting - I think mine had issues, activesync failed to sync to directory and the rules were quite limited. Still waiting for their support teams to sort out several issues with move and stuff. even if they can get it working I can't see it being good enough in it's control.
So we are back to poutlook and it's limited functionality.
Are there any decent programs out there for message filtering. I get 300+ emails per day and over 150 are total rubbish 50 are newsletters and notifications which I file.
and half a dozen orders buried in this lot that I NEED to deal with immediately.
any suggestion please
Cheers
G
Well - I don't know if this will work for you, but I have all my email come through my Yahoo account. On the server side, I have about 60 rules/filters set up. This way, on my inbox on my phone, I already get them filtered. I have been using Yahoo for years and now-a-days I get a spam email in my inbox about twice a year. If you have not set up a web based account yet, I would actually suggest gmail for the push capabilities. But I don't know how their filters or spam protection work.
Just as an aside, I used to use FlexMail and most of the time when I could not get something working, it was my fault. It is a very powerful application. I finally decided it was too powerful for my needs on my cell and switched to ProfiMail. You might want to check out their rules/filters. I don't use the filters on the phone, so I can't help you there, but it is a pleasure to use.
