In receipt of the 2GB Sandisk micro memory card placed it in my HTC Hermes product (MDA Varion II), checked settings and micro card is recognised showing storage card free 1936.88 MB
Attempted installing TomTom Navigator v6.01 too many times display messages such as "There is not enough free space on your TomTom device. Create 9.04 MB of extra space by deleting some content (music, photos, voices etc) from your device". or "You cannot install the application to internel memory".
Thinking cap on placed micro card in SD memory card holder, placed in desktop pc reader. XP PRO displays "The disk in drive F: is not formatted 'Do you want to format it now' select format and message displays 'The disk in drive F: cannot be formatted' Now that is real fun help anyone please?

Hi there,
I've just become what I thought was a proud owner of an Orange M600. Their May catalogue says it has 128 Mb internal memory, the website says 64Mb. When I check the memory tab, the storage total is 42.55Mb (I've used 38.53), Program total 44.01Mb (used 28.35)
I was going to replace my O2 XDA 2S (Blue Angel) which comes with 128Mb.
Having installed about 4 out of my 7 must-have programs, i'm getting sync errors for out of space. It's a gorgeous phone, but is there ANY way of getting/unlocking more on-board memory, else I guess I'll be returning it.
What have other users done to combat low memory, is it just to install everything on the SD-Card...?
Please help/advise.....
TIA
You need to think of your M600 in PC terms - that is you have a hard disk (storage) and you have RAM (program memory). The storage is just that, for storing programs and data. Program memory is where your programs run and the more memory you have the more programs you can run simultaneously.
You will most likely want to get a storage card and install your applications here thus freeing up some internal storage space. An SD card works just like your storage space, so if you felt like it you could buy a 4GB sd card and have huge amounts of storage space. So far all my applications have installed and run fine from the SD card with the exception of AvantGo, which seems to want to remain in main storage. But generally just install on the SD card.
As for memory, mine is often less than 10MB free, but Windows will close programs automatically to free up additional memory as and when needed. My advice would be to not become obsessed with the memory and just let WM5 do its job, alternatively there are a number of task managers that let you actually close programs and free up memory rather than just minimising them, however, so far for me WM5 is doing a good enough job...
Digger is right. I install everything on Storage Card except the PocketZenPhone today plug-in.
Everything works just fine.
Storage cards are getting cheaper all the time. 8)

Thanks for your advice. I think you've convinced me to keep the phone. I guess pretty much all other pda phones are on the market at the mo with 64Mb memory, and i do like the sleek look of the M600.
Advice much appreciated...

Hi folks,
Just a quick one for you... I am about to download Spb Pocket Plus, Am I best off downloading it to the internal memory or my storage card (1gb)? Or doesn't it make a difference?
Thanks.
Matt.
Personally I have installed all my programs to my storage card, they dont take up too much space really. Just means that I always have fiull memory on my phone so it doesnt start to slow down, or atleast thats my theory!
some programs though by default can't be installed in the storage card, and i think spb pocket+ is one of them... not sure though
Even if you install SBP plus to your storage card, the today plugin dll is stored in your local memory, usually in the windows directory.
You can see this if you have memmaid and want to free up memory by relocating today plugins to the storage card - it's surprising how many megabytes of dll's are stored in local memory even if you choose the storage card !
I´ve been trying to copy large files, as movies or maps databases to my mini sd and they are all getting corrupted.
Has anyone experienced this issue already? Do you think that it might be a problem with the phont or with the memory stick?
Thanks
Cesar
i remember that long ago i had a similar problem. Then, i formatted the mini sd card on the pc with FAT32 and it is working fine since then.
Are you copying direct to the card in a card reader, or using ActiveSync?
AS has always had a tendency to corrupt large files, and is limited to USB1 transfer rates. Originally the file size limit was about 14MB but I think AS4.0 is capable of a bit more
Anything more than 30MB would be best transferred with a card reader. If you already have corrupt files, I'd suggest copying what you have to the PC, then as suggested above, do a reformat (as long as the card is no larger than 2GB); MiniSD Cards larger than 2GB (as opposed to SDHC, which works in WM6) need special formatting, as the cluster size is modified.
Thanks for the tips. I´ve been using ActiveSync, but i´m going to buy a card reader.
I was thinking that it was a problem with my phone and i´m really glad to know that it´s normal!
Thanks

I bought A Sandisk 1GB Mini SD Card off of ebay for $10
-just the the card no card reader, or adaptor of any sort.
I insert it into my wizard, and it fits it with the spring loaded mechnism fine, but when I go to memory managment, im not sure if it knows it's there or not
Memory management will say that, that "external storage": "Not Installed"?
But when I go to take pictures, I go to the utilities/options menu, then general tab, and it doesnt even acknowledge that theres their a card in the slot, only seeing system memory.
So my question is, are their any programs that can/will format my card, or implement something to make it work?
I have Total Commander(not installed), and thinking about downloading this program called "SKTools". Would these programs work.
Cause not only is this a brand new card, but i have pictures and programs that I want to get installed on this device.
-Ive already amazed myself by using the Lockiwiz, to unlock my phone(having only 2-days worth of exp with a smartphone device)
-taken a few pictures, which i have to downloading off my wizard through activesync
-An some other freeware programs that want to install themselves on the system memory
Please help, all/ and any post greatly appreciated
Thanks!
EDIT: I downloaded SKTools onto my device, and its a cool program( I think its a alternate version of total commander but you pay for it?), but it doesnt recognize my Mini SD card either!!
-I also found this program called "WM5Storage", in the description it say that it's specialty is dealing with "external storage", downloading/ and uploading without the need of activesync?
I used Paragon Partition Manager to partition my minisdhc
panasonic
SDFormatter
the setup maybe you find in www
here is the program-folder,
just extract to c:\programs\
or use a CANON DIGITAL IXUS 65 or else DigiCam
Hi all
I've an HTC HD2 with a 16 Gb memory card included. I have 8Gb of free space in my storage card but when I switch on the camera it gives me the possibility to take ONLY 164 photos. If i switch the storage option to the Internal storage tha number changes in 153. With the same free space, in my Omnia HD (8 Mpixel) the number was greater and I think it should be this way. What's wrong?
Thank you for your replyes
Not sure whats going on there as I have a 16Gb card with about the same free space and mine says 7442...
does the card have a 16gb partition on it? maybe all of the space hasnt been used? is it fat32 partition? etc etc.
Hi...yes it has a 16Gb partition and it's FAT32. I'll try to format again both from my PC and PPC and let's see what happens.
Whats the phone stating the available space is on the card from the settings page?
The phone gives me 8Gb as free disk space. Now I'm backing up all my memory and then I'll format with windows 7. Maybe this will solve. Is better formatting from the PC or the PPC? I think it's the same but I want to be sure
thanks
No way...I formatted from both PPC an PC but no results. I tried to start the camera with tha card empty and it says 4074. It seems like the phone manages only half of the SD. I looked with resco Explorer, windows mobile Explorer and the option of WM6.5 and all of them show me 15.8 Gb of free disk space. I don't know what to do. I need some help ...
Thanks
What camera settings have you got set? Defaults from factory?
Have you been tweaking reg settings?
I have all the default settings except for a registry setting for finest resolution at 5 Mpixel (similar to 8 Mpixel) taken from a post here in xda. Even supposing in a 8 Mpixel resolution 164 photos in 8 Gb of disk space is not the correct number.
Hi guys. I solved the problem installing the HTC Patch released today. Now my available photos are 11600!!!!!!!.
