my replacement device - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Just received a replacement on Wed 22nd Nov after getting SA issues and something with the keyboard.
I cant remember for the life of me if the start and end call buttons are meant to glow or not, i know the d-pad and surround keys dont glow, but i'm sure just one shouldnt glow with a back light. the one that does glow is the end call button. Can anyone tell me if they are meant to be back lit?
Also, I got my replacement on Wed 22nd Nov, and have at most done 5min worth of calls in total, and recieve about 15min worth. But in the call duration it says i've made just over 3 hours of calls, and recieve nearly 50min of calls. Does this mean this is not a new handset? is it a mix up of handsets? is it testings? What does it mean?!

Start call button glows green, end call button glows red.

damn, so i've got a faulty replacement device, great!
And i still do understand the call durations!

sent off that replacement ages ago
been waiting ages for a brand new one
argggh!

Dropped calls and other problems (Vario II)

My Vario II (on T-Mobile UK) is driving me crazy dropping calls. The problem manifests itself most often on receiving calls. What happens is that the phone will ring and I will press either the green "pick up" button or the "answer" onscreen prompt. The call drops and the caller is sent to my voicemail.
It's happening on more than 50% of calls. I have a strong signal in the locations this has happened in. I also put the SIM in my old Nokia 6230i and it worked fine for a day. No dropped calls. So I'm inclined to blame the device.
It does not cut off very often or in any unsatisfactory way when I have initiated the call.
I also have a problem whereby the green pick up button does not answer the call. In factr, all the lower buttons randomly stop working from time to time (at least every other day) requiring a soft reset to make them work again. (I have not locked the keys on the device by the way).
Does anyone have any suggestions - should I consider a radio rom upgrade or get the device exchanged? I dont want to invalidate my warranty...
Thanks,
antlion
Mine does this too. You press the answer button, the screen says "Connected", but I can't hear anything. I'm assuming the caller can actually hear me saying "Hello, Hello" because they don't hang up straight away.

What's your S/N no Htxxx? I think buttons not working seems like a hardware fault !
case
I gooiing to try to use the phone for a couple of days without the original leather case... I think it goes that days much better!
I have the same problems... and also my screen goed from landscape to portrait mode when I get my phone out of his case...
I have read that the two strong magnets in the case causes this troubles!

i do use the case all the time. I did notice that the magnets are quite strong. Do you have a link to any information about the effect of the magnets?
I was thinking of geting one of those nice vaja cases but they have magnets too...
The magnets won't really do anything, their effects are too localised for any damage to occur. The only reason your screen flips is because the magnet sensor used inside the actual device is very sensitive.
imho.
I've had problems in the past with calls either dropping or going to voicemail when I've picked up - sometimes this is either because I've picked up JUST as the other person has gotten bored and hung up, and the phone still thinks they're on the line (that's just rotten luck) or it's due to some heavy CPU usage at the time (methinks).
That said, I had an HT634 before, and my two day old, replacement handset (HT643) hasn't done it yet... But again, I've not made or received that many calls since I got it. Not noticed any problems yet... I have been more cautious about what software I install on it too. It has to be something screwing with the events association (you know, 'on call do xyz' and that could be taking up valuable cpu cycles). Had this problem a lot more on my Alpine, also noted that if someone rang me it took almost half a second usually for the line to be properly connected - I still wait a little bit before speaking when i pick up on my Hermes, and I have a feeling that the delay is still there.
Meh.
I've decided to test the SIM in my old Nokia 6310i for a couple of days to see if that drops calls. If it doesn't then I'm going to RMA the handset back to T-Mobile and get a replacement.
Just looking around as my T-Mobile Vario 2 drops around 50% of calls on answer too.
I thought it was a hardware issue at first but having tried the software "button" for a week, I am experiencing the same problems.
Any calls I make are fine, calls that I answer satisfactorily are good too, in fact, the quality of calls is excellent. Much better than my XDA mini s was (very "lumpy" quality on that one!)
Any body found a solution?

Screen unresponsive, anyone else?

Anyone else having the same problem? When typing a lot of my keys have been unresponsive, when I try to hit the p, the o always comes up.. always. The delete key sometimes doesn't respond until I lock the phone and unlock it again and sometimes the slide to unlock feature doesn't respond. I'm on my 2nd phone, my first incredible had speaker/call clarity problems and while I love the incredible.. I can't believe I have to wait another 4 weeks to get a new one. >.<
Anyone else having screen problems?
I wish it would just work.. such a great phone.
I'm on my 2nd phone too. it has the same problems as the last one i had, and the screen is more unresponsive then the last one. I figured since it was taking so long, maybe they were fixing some issues in the build that would alleviate these issues. Guess not
My original problem was the voice dialing, and other crazy stuff happening when plugged into the audio port on my car. tried like 5 different cables, and all of them shorted out the connector on the inc, like i was hitting a button on a headset. Even the icon at the top would turn into a headset with microphone, instead of just headphones. my screen on that phone didn't have too many problems when it was in the car mount, sometimes it wouldn't register a hit, but not too often.
I called vzw before my 30 days, had to wait around a month for my replacement, and the new one has the same audio issues, (not as extreme as my old one tho) and the screen can be considered 95% unresponsive in the car mount. even if the line in audio cable is plugged in, it's unresponsive. the only way for it to be usable in any way is to have it plugged in. I don't like the speaker buzzing when it's plugged into the power and the aux port. Gotta get that ground loop isolator soon... Radioshack didn't have them when i went.
needless to say I'm getting ANOTHER replacement, and it's supposed to be here by July 16th
I feel your pain my friend, I feel your pain. I'm scared to go into the verizon store and have them tell me that I have to wait til mid July.. after I get my replacement, I'm going to tell my friend to hold one at the vzw store for me when the next one breaks..
If this next phone doesn't work properly.. Idk what I'm going to do!

[Help] Black screen

Hello good folks,
I would like a bit of help with sorting my phone out. As of Thursday morning (2 AM or so) my phone has a black screen. The phone switches on, the touchscreen works (I can unlock it, put it to silent, hold the power key and tap the places on screen that would normally switch it off to do just that), the volume keys work, I can receive calls, the back light works.
Everything is as it should be, but I cant see a damn thing!
I should note that this happened once before, about a month ago and a few hours later it was back to normal. Also, I have noticed over the past few months a very small black circle at the top edge of the screen, about half a centimetre in diameter.
Please help!
Kindest regards.
It's the first time I read such an issue, your screen's probably defective.
To eliminate a probable OS issue, does the bootloader appear flawlessly ?
No, nothing appears at all. The screen is completely black at all times!
Your screen is malfunctioning, I don't know what's causing it and I don't know if you can fix it yourself either.
I think you are better off sending it back, if still under warranty.
Otherwise, ... ?
This just happened to me NOW....I'm waiting hopefully it will fix itself as i hear the HD2 heals itself LOL

[Q] Display problems

I dropped my S4 the other day and cracked the glass but it continued to work. A few days later I picked the phone up and hit the side button to bring up the display and now all I get is a flash and the screen remains black. Rebooted, pulled battery and still does the same. You can still hear emails coming in and when I get a phone call I can swipe the screen and take the call but it remains black. The only thing that lights up is the led and the menu and back button. I took it apart looking for a loose cable but saw none. Any ideas? New digitizer?

Replaced screen/digitizer, screen goes dark when making a call & earpiece is silent

Replaced screen/digitizer, screen goes dark when making a call & earpiece is silent
So as the title says, I cracked my digitizer 2 weeks ago on vacation and finally got around to replacing it. Having done so, everything works great, all touches register, wifi/lte/texting, no problem. Had to make a phone call today and came upon the issue that the screen goes black and nothing will bring it back. My microphone works but my earpiece (speaker) does not. Once the other party hangs up, hitting the power button brings the screen up like it was sleeping.
As I've gathered from other threads, I'm going to have to tear it down again and make sure the proximity sensor is properly set up and check my cable connections for the earpiece.
Is there anything I should look for specifically while I'm back in there? Thanks all - I've only had it for a month and haven't had time to install a recovery...although I think I rooted it. Don't even remember! But first things first.
