Previously when I click on the GPRS icon ( square with "G" ) and it will show me the GPRS connection option for me to click and connect to GPRS. However starting WM5, I found it shows only "To connect to either the Internet or work, set up a new connection in Settings".
May I know how to get back the shortcut thing ?
Can anyone tell me how i can force a GPRS/3G connection. At present i am using Thunderhawk II to browse the internet from my M5000 but this application does not automatically open an internet connection using GPRS/3G when i am not using WiFi. I have to open PIE first before the device will connect to the internet and then open Thunderhawk. This is a pain. Any advice? Can anyone create a little Today app to do this?
......and unlike PPC 2003, WM5 does not allow you to open a data connection by tapping on the 'G' or 'U' symbols at the top of the screen. Why not??????
go into connections and locate the connection settings you are looking for, press and hold, tap connect.
Thanks for the reply but going through the following routine everytime i need to browse is hardly convenient:
Start
Settings
Connections
Connections
Orange World: Manage existing connections
Orange GPRS Internet
Connect
Is there no way of achieving this from the Today screen?
nope
connections, or use PIE as you have indicated.
Try PhoneAlarm to force GPRS connection
I seem to recall that PhoneAlarm has a route to forcing GPRS to connect. Certainly works with my Universal. It's not always shown on the available skins, but if I use HGS6VGA CAR skin file GPRS connection is forced by clicking on one of the displayed icons. Not sure of the code this icon click invokes, but it does launch GPRS on my device.
Is there a way to click the "E" at the top of the screen and have a "connect" button so i could manually connect to the GPRS connection?
Thanks,
You simply can press the CONNECTION button on the top left corner of the device and click on the DATA CONNECTION icon there!
comm manager?
are you talking about going into the comm manager and clicking "data connection? If so, when GPRS is disconnected, that icon is grayed out and cannot be clicked..
Thanks,
I haven't found a way to connect manually.
Hi.
Can anybody tell me how I can see whether I am using Wireless or 3G network.
I do not know how I can see this, when I for instance are at home and connected to my wireless network and checking my mail via Exchange server.

Why don't you use Modaco NoData to disable 3G and GPRS ? Search for it. You can enable and disable whenever you want

You can with the icons which appear in the Task Bar line.
Using 3G will either show a '3G' or 'H' icon with <- -> arrows, Using WiFi will cause the antenna icon with arrows.
By default the Touch2 will use the WiFi connection for data (when connected to a wireless network ofcourse)
Hi all
New to this forum and scratching my head attempting to use wifi after recently purchasing a HTC Tattoo with Orange.
When I go into the settings menu, I am able to establish a connection to a wi-fi network at home and the wi-fi signal icon is displayed on my phone. However, when I click on browser icon to use the internet all I receive a message relating to orange world stating that the page can only be accessed via the the orange GPRS network.
Try Opera Mini.
Dejandekic - many thanks!!!
