Hey everyone,
I have imate jasjar, my microphone was working good till I completed last call 2 hours back, and suddenly person at other end wasnt able to hear voice, and I figured out my microphone stopped working.. I thought its a hardware problem.. but when I speak very close to microphone, person at other end can hear, but when I speak normally they cant.. earlier they could but now they cant.. and this happend suddenly between call, I did not do anything.. I tried enabling and disabling Microphone Gain Control but it doesnt help out, can anyone help me out? I did 2 times hard reset as well but no help
have you tried upgrading your radio?
I have a very similar problem with my Universal. Microphone and HP doesn't work. It's not a software problem, I tryed to flash different rom version, soft reset, hard reset. The phone works only with headset. I think it's a problem with jack connector detection. Even if no jack is plugged, i can't use button "Activate HP" during a call.

This problem was highlighted before and its due to the design of the connector. Apparently the only way to over this is by plugging the phone in and out several times until the phone acknowledges that the headset has been removed.
Its because of this problem that I do not use the headset on my Exec.

My device MDA II WM2005 2.01a 64WWE radio 1.17 crashed one day after sync and install some programs. When I finished my work with PC,I took the MDA out of the cradle and soft reset. After that it only load the windows mobile start screen and no more.I took out the battery for a while and after putting it back, the device started normally, only the flash disk was erased. Then I found out that during the call the other person can't hear me,only I can hear him very well indeed.I doubt that the microphone is damaged,so I tried some voice recording, and it recorded everything quite good.So I can presume the harware is fine.then I tried this:hard reset;ROM update, radio rom update.Nothing worked, the microphone still doesn't work during the call.I don't know what to try next,my options finished...Please if anyone have ideas on this issue,it will be much appreciated!
My Andes Mic Dead Need The Schematic
I've the same Problem Can somebody help.Where I can get the Schematic for my Andes. Please
I have the same problem, except my microphone doesn't work at all. I was getting by just fine, until I managed to snap off the plug in for the "wired' headset. Now I'm stuck using a bluetooth headset all the time.
With my phone, there was no event that precipitated the loss of the microphone. Nevertheless, I have since upgraded to Win2005 and the mic still doesn't work. I thought maybe the mic had disconnected itself on the inside, so I opened up the phone and made sure the contacts were clean and working properly, still no go.
Anybody have any suggestions? Is it possible to burn out a microphone? If so, does anyone know where I can find a new one?
So, my phone stopped working a few days ago. I've been running WM6 for quite some time now and I've even tried going back to Tmobile's ROM. Basically, when I receive/make a phone call, I can ONLY hear the person if I put them on speaker. They can hear me regardless, but I can't hear them. Pretty annoying.
Any ideas?
Heh! Quite a coincidence!!! I cannot hear anything from the headset either and it happened a short while after I upgraded to XDA6. It work fine with the stereo headset as well as with a BT one. The difference in my case is that I cannot switch to speakerphone. The phone is deaf without a hands-free device.
I have posted a separate thread on my problem - here it is
i have the same problem. phone is dead without a handsfree it happened to me last night all was good, i was listening to music to handsfree and removed them to make a call and it didnt work anymore..i reinstalled the rom, but no sound..any help anyone?
maybe the phone is stuck on handsfree..it things that the handsfree is plugged in or something?
problem solved trustworthy, i've put the jack in and out a few times..and now the sound works there is a switch that is pressed when you plug in the jack and maybe it got stuck on handsfree..try pressing it a few times..i don't know. now my phone works. i'll never plug in a handsfree again
I had the same problem--it was still under warranty...new MDA was the solution.
By the time it goes again I hope the next generation will be here!
I have the same problem as lilcam, the earspeaker is dead. I had the same problem once, and the service chage the speaker, first and the ringer, later and stars working just fine. Now, the silent speaker hits again and service says is not the same problem and they cant repar it. Does anybody have a clue?

Thanks for the hint, but I REPLACED the handfree jack and it still wouldn't work without the headset
The people, who got it serviced told me that there was a problem with the mmainboard, that they cannot deal with. As I've mentioned in my thread, they also told me that a faulty handsfree jack was a frequently occurring problem with the 9100. I would recommend to pdebeitia and Sisqo to try replacing the jack. Hopefully it might help...it did not work for me though...
BTW, pdebeitia and Sisqo, what ROM are your MDA's running or were runnig at the time when it happened?
I have a german version of X1 , almost everyting works fine but with a little problems. i am a 3-year WM user and know the basic stuffs of this OS.
but the worst thing is the mic on headset dosen't work at all, the button and the speaker are good.
dose anyone have the same problem with me? and what should i do?
thanks
On my phone the headset jack needed a really hard push to go all the way in. Make sure you really have pushed it as far as it goes. But I guess you already tried that, huh.
Should be an easy thing to get replaced at the store though.
Returned my first X1 because of a not-working button >and< microphone of the headset (ordered via internet). The replacement phone had the same problem.
In the accompanying shop, which I finally visited, also a third phone did not work. They tried a bit more when I left and discovered that it can work if you connect the headset >when< a call is received...
Also, they reported that it is not a know problem for the X1.
Well, with three not-working phones it seems to be a problem!
Maybe a headset problem instead?
my headset doesn't work if the phone is on vibrate or no sound mode. If I change the phone to normal then the headset works. Touch cruise headset works on vibrate mode. I am not sure if other people have the same situation. I only the put phone in vibrate mode at work so if I want to use headset I just change phone to normal, life goes on.
same problem
By using voice recording it uses the mic from the phone. i think it's a problem of the software. It does not switch... maybe a registry issue...
i have the same issue, and its a hardware problem, because if you plug it a couple of times, sometimes works and sometimes dont...
someone has found a solution to this?
Hello XDA crew,
I have some problems and I hope you can help me with that. Xperia phone is really cool but one thing for me is really annoying. And that is the calling performance of Xperia.
These are the main problems:
1. When I plug in the headset, the ringtone plays both on the headset speakers and the phone speaker. Is there a way to let the ringtone play only on the headset speakers?
2. When I plug in the headset, the microphone of the headset isnt active. Only the microphone of the phone is active. So, people can not understand me when I speak to the headset microphone. But they can hear me when I talk to the microphone of Xperia.
These are some other problems but not so important for me:
3. The volume of the call is too high. Even when I set the volume low, people can hear the person who I am talking with.
4. Microfone of Xperia get active after for about two seconds when I answer the phone. So, I have to wait for about 2 seconds to say 'hi'.
5. The answer button of the headset doesn't work.
Can someone help me with this problems or just one of these problems?
Note: I have hardreset my phone two times and reinstalled the ROM software one time via SEUS. I didnt get any result. I have the original Vodafone R2 software.
I have the 2 second delay too. Using gtrab wm6.5 custom rom

Unplug the headphone jack during a call and plug again (during the same call) and press the answer button. It will terminate the call and start working (until your next xperia soft reset). Double-press the answer button when idle, and it will repeat the last call. If that doesn't work, try it again and again after the first trick of plugging/unplugging and it will work on your 4th/5th try. From then on, all answer/hangup/'repeat last call' functions will work. Until you soft reset of course.
I'm calling a toll free (service center) number to do the trick whenever I have to use the handsfree.

It works (on a WM6.5 rom also)
Nice little trick there, thanks
Tnx for the trick vanauberjim. So it seems more like a hardware problem. Anyway, I will try it tomorrow. Hope that the main problems also be solved like this.
Both 2. and 5. get fixed with the trick, but I just hope SE will find a permanent fix. It's not a solution to unplug and replug the headphones during calls.
My question is: are we the only 3 persons that have this problem? Is this problem originally caused by the headset hardware? Is it caused because the plug is so tight that it severely scratched the middle ring in the headphone jack and it can't always make a connection with the middle ring (the microphone one)? How many people have this problem?
Have the same problem
I do have the same problem and workaround works for mee to but it is annoying!
@vanauberjim, I can ensure you that we are definitely not the only one with these problems. I saw on a popular dutch forum that a lot of people have exactly the same problem.

Have you tested with another hands-free set ? is it the phone or the hands-free causing the problem?
I have send my hands-free to SE yesterday so they will check it and if it was ok I will send the phone back.
About 3 seconds of delay when I answer , I haven't done anything yet , is it a bug , I mean do we have this problem or every X1 out there.
Ok, post back soon because if it's faulty hands free we only have 6 months warranty on handsfree (and battery) and time's running out. The phone has 2 years warranty so we have plenty of time for its handset's faults.
I got the same problems, is annoying BTW ... and about the trick mmm quiet annoying as well, but if is the only way to make it work, no more than just do it.

I think it's a phone problem. I use the original headset and sometimes when I plugin the headset the phone calles the person who I have called earlier. Now I have another stupid problem. When I plugout the headset, the phone still thinks that the headset is plugged in on the phone. I see the headset icon on the phone and when I call someone, I cant hear and speak with the person. Only way I can do this is to plugin the headset again and speak that way. When I plugin and plugout for several times, the headset icon dissapears and I can make my call again without a headset. I think that alle these problems are because the jack plug doesn't function good.
Another issue. I call it issue because it's not a problem, but just a stupid choise of sonyericsson:
- Some soundnotifications during calling like 'busy tone' or 'waiting tone' plays from the main speaker of the phone in instead of the calling/ear speaker. This way, all the people who are sitting next to you hears that the person who you are calling is busy
It will be for the 4th time that I go to the shop with a problem. So I will ask to the shopper if I can choose another phone. I'm thinking about the Touch Pro 2. I'm sick of the problems of Xperia. Don't think that HTC will have the same problems.
hi
big problem, my phone thinks the handsfree is connected, have tried softreset, same problem, tried hardreset also, SAME PROBLEM, I see the handsfree icon on the taskbar... I can't make calls without handsfree... :/ wtf is the problem? when I connect the handsfree and remove it it still thinks the handsfree is connected... :/
edit: seems to be working normal a while but after some time it thinks the headset is connected... :/
I had exactly the same problem. It was that the physical connector where the headset goes still thought the headset was in. I did all the same including factory reset and was going to downgrade my rom back to factory one so I could send it back then I tried showing the headset plug in and out sharply a few times and bobs your uncle it was sorted. I was annoyed that it took me a factory reset to guess the problem but happy that it was fixed.
I was thinking if it happens again that I may try a tiny drop of WD40 down the hole to see if this helps.
I too had this problem. removing and re-connecting my headphones a few times fixed it - and its never happened again. Very strange though...
yes strangely i have never had the problem again. just once.
