Um, I've had a search everywhere for this: can anyone get vodafone live! on their v1605? I was assured by VF CS at least twice that it 'worked fine' and 'mobile tv, no problem' on the device, but i'm thinking this might have been a cunning marketing ploy..
help gratefully appreciated..
I was told Voda CS that the handset isn't compatibale with Live. I've not tried accessing. What is the link? I've always had a shortcut on all my other phones.
You can access live and tv although it is not supported. First off you need the UA string of a device that does support live (i.e. Nokia N70) - this is not just "NokiaN70" - there is a whole load of other stuff as well. Then one needs to do what is listed in this thread re the connection/proxy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29595&highlight=gprs+always
Thanks very much mate: works a treat and I'm now watching mobile TV atop my shiny new v1605, huzzah!
Can you post the link you are using? I don't know anyone else with a Vodafone to get this... Thx
Any help using HTC TyTN with vodafone Spain???
Thanks in advance

doeas anybody knows if there is a solution fr XDA or any PDA from the major operators Vodafone, Orange similar to those on desktop PC ?
it's called accelerator, macara client, optimiser ....
Decebal
Ummm i never thought of it but i dont think improving GPRS speed can be done by software...
i hope there would be something like this but i dont think its feasible...
the technology is available
http://www.bytemobile.com/html/Client_products.html
this is the producer and it already has a desktop software considered revolutionary.
it is implemented by vodafone, orange, t-mobile ... and i have the PC version. i was looking for the PDA version

Such a software exists. My norwegian provider NetCom has one availiable here http://www.netcom.no/Content/images/aksel_pics/netcom_ce.exe
I have no idea how it works, or if it is operator specific, but I had no trouble with it (except that it takes up valuable RAM)

Thanks, I guess that's probably what I'm looking for. But can you tell me if you're using on an XDA and how did you installed it. I cannot get it running. Also if there are some settings to do.
Thanks again,
Decebal
I tried that one and didn't really get it working, but even worse, now can not completely get it uninstalled!
In the Applications screen there's still an "Akselerator" Icon I can not delete. If tapped it says it can not find the application "Spawner" connected to that icon. Wierd.
What can I do?

Hi everybody,
I have my Cingular 8525 unlocked that I m currently using with Rogers. It's all set with MMS, email, and internet
The Cingular 8525 comes also with mobiTv but if I click on the prog it proposes me the mobitv service from USA by default.
There is no way so far that I can change the url by default, the program is in the Rom of the device and the only way I guess, will be to touch the register key of my Cingular 8525 .
I know that my device is not officially supported by Rogers but i m sure that we can find the way to make it happen
If anyone have an idea, may be a app that i can download from Rogers , or to give me the right url for this service from my device, let me know
Thank you in advance for your help
Nobody ?
Well, I'm a bit puzzled. According to MobiTV site it is only available in the US.
"Cingular customers: if you prefer, you may purchase MobiTV directly from your MediaNet device menu by selecting Entertainment / More Sites / MobiTV.
Product Features
Channels you know from home like ABC News Now, CSPAN, and FOX Sports (click here for the full channel lineup)
High quality video
Graphical channel guide with programming information
Full screen viewing option
Touchscreen and 5-way navigation
Note: Service available in U.S. only. Data charges apply. We strongly recommend you have an unlimited data plan with your carrier before buying MobiTV.
As it costs $9.99 / month, I'm sure they give you a programme download which would replace the one you have IF it works elsewhere.

I believe Handango or another major PPC software vendor sold these, and billed you directly. This was before but you could try.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) -- our equivalent of the US FCC -- does not allow the re-transmission of broadcast material by unlicenced carriers, so no MobiTV in Canada until the rules are changed (which I am sure will happen at some point in the future -- Canada usually follows the US' lead).
John
Not quite true you lot
I'm running my Softbank with ATT_MobiTv and ATT_XMRadio rom. It's only a 3 day trial but I get all the US channels A-Ok. Just don't see a way to switch to other networks/countries.
Mobitv is also available on Rogers. Mobitv is the technology used by Rogers for the streaming video applications.
You don't have to believe me just check the MobiTv website.
http://www.mobitv.com/channels/channels.php
A number of providers and channel listings there.
Now back to the original problem of changing channel lineups. Is it prgram based or a setting? Only the ATT_mobitv cab seems tobe out in the wild.
Thanks to everyboddy for your answers
For some reason i didnt recieve any notice for your replies
It seems that some guys succed to make it work
Actually pretty much all the services that Roger offer now, vison

i keep looking , but thanks
I can't getr iplayer to work. When i go to the bbc mobile version of iplayer via Opera, I get an error saying my phone is not compatible. Do i need to change anything in the registry or opera:config file to pretend its a nother device?

Change custom user-agent in opera:config to sgh-i900 & save. Exit Opera then go back to BBC iplayer & it should now work.
Actually found out HTC_Touch_HD_T8282 works better
TBOy, tried that but no luck. Do you have to clear out all the other gubbins in there first?
I changed HD2 to Hd and 8585 to 8282 but left the rest alone....
thanks
no clear EVERYTHING and put the above.
sorry to ask what is probably a very basic question but where is opera:config? I'm a bit new to all this so an idiots guide would be much appreciated
I second that, total noob to winmo, haven't a clue either how to do this
i think you type it into the adress bar, same with firefox core settings
The current Opera 9.7 version on the HD2 is not detected by the BBC iplayer website. Here is a modifcation to Opera preferences you can do to get it to work.
Launch Opera and type: opera:config in the url bar. No http:// prefix.
Find the User Prefs at the bottom of the list and then scroll down to Custom User-Agent.
Delete all text in the field and enter only HTC_Touch_HD_T8282 into the box and make sure you press Save (all the way down at the bottom of User Prefs).
Exit Opera and restart it.
Now go to http://bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer. Videos are opened in your Streaming App on your phone.
Many thanks, and cheers for being patient with the noobs.
+1 on the patience.
Incidentally, I found editing the line doesn't work; you have to do as stated ie delete ALL of it and then re-enter from scratch.
Thanks Again...
Hi Tboy, thank you for the reply- I think it's working, can't try yet as I don't have a wireless connection, which leads me to another issue...
The iPlayer claims that you can only stream over 3G on the Vodafone and 3 networks (UK), and that I should stream over wifi. I'm actually with Vodafone so does anyone know why I'm getting this message and can't stream over 3G? Is it anything to do with HSDPA being enabled?
Thanks in advance!
I was about to ask this exact same question. Got Iplayer to work great over wifi, so thanks again for the advice, but when trying over Vodafone 3g data connection it is saying I need to be on Vodafone 3G, kinda weird as I am. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this would be a god send for long night shifts.

+1 It would be nice to get this working
Thanks very much too, I am a total noob to this, and iplayer is great.
Also does anyone know how you can get the rest of the copilot UK/Ireland and Euro maps from the DVD onto my HTC Leo? I have managed to get the UK and Ireland maps from the Disc but am struggling to get the euro ones off.
Thanks in advance

have you installed copilot central onto your PC ?
I'm on 3 UK and it works beautifully!
If you're having trouble with iPlayer you could try using the myplayer application. It works best with CorePlayer installed, but you can stream stuff using the Streaming Media Player and play iPlayer downloads using TCPMP.

Co Pilot Live 8
Hi There, Thanks for getting back to me.
I have put the Copilot Central 2.0 on the laptop and even tried loading each map (trance, BeNeLux etc.) individually via DVD on Laptop through usb to HD2. Not really sure what to try next.
Hi
Anyone got this working? I did the registry tweak as per the tweaks thread and I no longer get the 'flash error' and it appears to recognise it is a mobile device, directs it to the mobile iplayer site but then I get an error saying the iplayer has technical issues and is not available.
Anyone using the t-mobile hd2 and have this problem??
Any help or suggestions much appreciated...
Works fine on my stock Vodafone HD2.....

Did you do the opera confug tweak in the thread above? Of not, what have you got in there by default?
Any help appreciated
I did the Opera Config tweak, but learned that you have to completely delete all the text then re-enter just the given text. If you delete some characters and alter the 8585 to 8282 it simply doesn't work.

I had exactly the same error message with my stock T-Mobile. Couldn't solve it. The workaround I came up with involves using MyPlayer and Coreplayer (search for the thread on here), and it works brilliantly - no issues with using T-Mobile data for downloading, streaming, watching live.

Can you stream over 3G/HSDPA on Vodafone?
I am also on Vodafone and although i have the iPlayer working perfectly well over wifi.... when i try and use my data connection the BBC iPlayer tells me that i must be on the Vodafone network in order to stream over 3G!?!?!
I'm on Orange and I tried doing the Opera tweak but bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer says it's having a technical problem and I should check back later.

Exactly the same issue as T-Mobile customers, it seems. MyPlayer and Coreplayer the way to go.
I am using mPlayer with StreamingPlayer on Vodafone and haven't had any issues.

bringing up an old topic but if you're still having problems, when you did the registry change did you make sure you used capital letters for the whole thing apart from the word touch which should just have a capital T and the rest in lower case. I had the same issue as you on my o2 hd2 and after changing the word "TOUCH" to "Touch" it worked fine.
Hi All
Im having problems with the orange world site recognising my HD when i tried to download orange maps from there as i ca use it for free with my price plan it wouldnt allow me to as it was saying the handset wasnt compatible so i checked the technical info on their site and the handset is showing up as an SPV M2000 does anyone have any sollutions for this or will it be the fact that i have done the USPL and running cooked roms i have tried several roms and it still shows up as the same SPV handset i have done several searches on the forum but cant find anything about a similar problem so any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
Dave
Just a guess but probably something to do with your Opera useragent string. Search the forum for the correct useragent string and instructions on checking/setting it. Oh and if you're using Opera 10 beta I'm not sure you can do this yet. Hope that works/helps!
Thanks for the reply i use IE but just tried Opera and its the same on there while on orange world home page i select your account then help and costs and finaly technical info and it displays the handset info if anyone else on orange using a cooked rom could go on and see what their handset displays as that would be a bonus
Thanks again
Dave
Finally sorted the problem
Hi All
After many hours of searching online i finally managed to fix the problem which involved changing the USER AGENT STRING this is what i done
I went into ADVANCED CONFIG/INTERNET EXPORER and selected the user agent custom base and changed it to
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile 6.0); PPC; 480x800; HTC_Touch_HD_T8282; OpVer 34.159.1.612
Then if you open up IE go into the menu select tools/options and you need to check the mobile device option
I checked on orange world afterwards and everything works
Thanks for comments and i hope this helps out other orange users if they find themselves in the same situation
Dave
