Hi,
I was reinstalling everything on my mini. At the very last step, I installed the trial of MySMSMessages by JGUI. I didn't like it so I uninstalled it.
Now, the default 'Messaging' Today screen Item -- the one which shows you if you have new Text Messages or MMS Messages or emails on your Today Screen -- is gone. Other default Today screen items remain like Tasks, Schedules, etc.
It's not in Settings/Today/Items. Short of doing another clean wipe of my mini just to get the thing on again, is there a way I can just install it? Download it? Fix it? I read somewhere that Today Screen Items are just dll's.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Try it

Re: Try it
So I'll use any reg editor for ppc, install it, look for 'regedit4'? Then make sure the parameters match the ones that you have just posted?
Am I on track so far?

Does anyone know where the sound settings have gone for MSN Messenger on the XDA Exec. They used to be in sounds and notifications on the older OS's.
It isnt available in WM2005. Incredible
Not in the usual place anyway. I have also had a search around the registry but i could not find anything obvious.
Just Incase anyone is interested dmr54 over at Tekguru found the answer on a blog at
http://www.shahine.com/omar/WindowsMobile5AndPocketMSNMessengerNotificationsFix.aspx

Here are the registry keys you’ll need to add to your device:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65E-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]
"Options"=dword:00000008
@="Messenger: Contact Online"
"Wave"="notify"
"Duration"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65F-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]
"Options"=dword:00000008
@="Messenger: New Message"
"Wave"="notify"
"Duration"=dword:00000000
After adding these you can go to the Sound and Notifications control panel and customize the notification behavior.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I just created a txt file with the above 2 blocks in it and renamed it to messenger.reg then ran it on the Exec. Now i can set the notifications from the usual place.
Worked fine for me but you attempt at your own risk.

I supposedly did this (its all I've done this morning) but:
a) I can't see the entries in the reg file
b) my data connections no longer work
Dunno how to back out the changes if I can't find them!

Thanks Dingo - works fine for me.
Somehow it wiped the password and username settings for the T Mobile 3G / GPRS connection, as well as the password on my exhange server connection... very strange!
I used this code in a text file renamed to messenger.reg
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65E-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]
"Options"=dword:00000008

"Options"=dword:00000008
"Wave"="Notify"
"Duration"=dword:00000000
@="Messenger: New Message"
file imports, i see no keys appear in registry
well it took long enough using resco to edit registry, but it works. thank frek, now i have have msn on in the background and not get pestered every 5 seconds.
Contact online & message notification
just import this registry file,message notification and contact online notification will b solved
cheers
thats what i did in the first place, it was just never showing up in the registry. i then tried adding the key and it said it already existed, then is was visible, but empty, so i manually added the rest and it works fine.

Very strange indeed. The 2 entries are added to the ControlPanel\Notifications section of the registry so should not in anyway affect data connection.
It would be wise for other T Mobile users to take note though just incase. Also if you could post success/failure results it would help to determine what the problem may be.
Also i did not note in my post above that after changing the registry switch your phone off and then soft reset for the settings to take effect.
Getting tired of the messages and sounds pocket msn plays everytime a contact shows up online? Here's the deal to resolve this problem:
Go to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\
(with a program like PHM, Resco)
make a new key:
{A877D65E-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]
Add a string value in this key:
Default="Messenger: Contact Online""
add a string value in this key:
"Wave"="notify"
Add two d-word values in this key:
"Options"=dword:00000008
"Duration"=dword:00000000
(both in decimal)
After that you add:
{A877D65F-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}] in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\
Add a string value in this key:
Default="Messenger: New message"
add a string value in this key:
"Wave"="notify"
Add two d-word values in this key:
"Options"=dword:00000008
"Duration"=dword:00000000
(both in decimal)
If you turn off and turn on your phone after this, you'll see two new options in the tab sounds and notifactions in the configuration menu of your WM 5.0 phone.
w0w...you the man...it was getting really annoying!!!....thanks man works great!!!

Same here...
Using the Orange NL ROM version. I've also tried Default="Messenger: Nieuw Bericht" instead of Default="Messenger: New message" but no luck
Can someone explain to me what each one of these items are? They are default startup items I've seen in WM5.
CapNotify (I assume this is for showing the C/Dot icon? Why is it defautly disabled then?)
Init_Tray (Somethin to do with the tray appearntly?)
poutlook (pocket outlook?)
ssdaemon (?)
services (i know what services at all, shouldnt these automatically be started with windows?)
WiFiInit (WiFi has to be enabled at boot?)
ssdaemon is the OEM voice dialer applcation that comes with the phone/image.
If you use MS voice command then you can remove it from your startup. It also causes a bug in the notifications: duplications.
If you don't use it then bin it
Hi
poutlook.lnk = pocket outlook process (necessary for pocket word & excel)
but some people delete it and find no change
capnotify = notification process concerning caps lock/shift
there is a hack from this to enable indicator
traylaunch = to launch tray in today screen - if you delete that you will have no tray & more space
ssdaemon = some sad demon that microsoft puts in every ppc
to cause all those bugs!
Anyone know what custTDYTSK.exe does and if it's needed as a startup file.

The name suggest that it is a Custom Today Skin/Theme "Thingy". I am not sure where it comes from and what it is supposed to do. I am running the QTEK 2.17 ROM on my T-Mobile Vario.

That controls the trayright at the bottom of the screen. Delete it if you want 15 lines extra or so.

i wouldn't agree. i removed poutlook.lnk from my startup folder and it didn't affect anything i could notice. contact list is working without problems, same thing with pocket outlook (text messages, mms, email etc.).

I've deleted all notifications in notification queue (repllog.exe, connmgr.exe, calnot.exe, clocknot.exe).
It was a big mistake :shock: (ou pour les francais: un gros crétins des alpes que je suis)
Activesync connection does not working anymore ..
So i've recreated notifications with memmaid :
- calnot (AppRunAfterTimeChange and AppRunAfterRestore)
- clocknot (AppRunAfterTimeChange and AppRunAfterRestore)
- connmgr (AppRunAfterTimeChange and AppRunAtRs232Detect)
- PMNotify (AppRunAfterWakeup)
- Replog (AppRunAtRs232Detect)
Soft-reset, and no change .....
Do yu have any ideas ??
Thanks for your help.
Spv m3000
French
Repllog.exe doesn't not launch where usb cable is connected ....
Dont' know why, i've added a new notification AppRunAtRs232Detect
If i launch it manually, there's no sync anymore ...
Ok i've found what is missing :
A repllog.exe notification which event : AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected !
The pb is i don't know how to create it : this event is not displayed is memmaid.
Any ideas ? :?: :?:
Well you have to laugh :wink:
repllog.exe also needs AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected and AppRunAfterTimeChange
clocknot.exe and calnot.exe also needs AppRunAtTime
\windows\calupd.exe needs AppRunAtTime
all taken from my qtek 9100 AKU2 WWE
Personally, I don't think ActiveSyn needs notification queue to be active. I think, if you were to try starting the active sync manually, and select Connect , you should still be able to ActiveSync. Just the automated one may not work if you have deleted them from the queue.
I think so, but when i launch repllog.exe or activesync manually, no sync was possible.
I need a program that talked to the CEDB to write the AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected notification.
I don't beleave that removing a simple hardware notification can be unsolve. The last chance is a cold reset, but i don't want to lost everything
Solution
Same happened to my universal.
Have a look on this webpage and you should be OK.

James
Tnaks James, but the link doesn't work ...
Simply a timeout connection, ok i'll read the post.
SBP Backup
It's too late now, but a backup program like sbp backup would have saved your bacon, methinks...
So Great James
It works, the notification AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected has been added to notification Queue.
Thanks a lot.
Now activesync is connecting normaly. No need to cold reset.
