Hi,
I was reinstalling everything on my mini. At the very last step, I installed the trial of MySMSMessages by JGUI. I didn't like it so I uninstalled it.
Now, the default 'Messaging' Today screen Item -- the one which shows you if you have new Text Messages or MMS Messages or emails on your Today Screen -- is gone. Other default Today screen items remain like Tasks, Schedules, etc.
It's not in Settings/Today/Items. Short of doing another clean wipe of my mini just to get the thing on again, is there a way I can just install it? Download it? Fix it? I read somewhere that Today Screen Items are just dll's.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Try it
So I'll use any reg editor for ppc, install it, look for 'regedit4'? Then make sure the parameters match the ones that you have just posted?
Am I on track so far?

i never solved it. The sms application is part of the phone dialer and I could not find a way of calling it directly.
I have got used to pressing green, then tools, send sms
Unfortantly the UI of the XDA II still needs a lot of development before the UI get efficent.

The today new items are actually referenced from the Registry here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Extensions\NewMenu
So, if someone who actually has SMS in their Today screen New menu could take a look at this location through a registry editor and post the Key and details we may be able to get this to work.
I wonder if this is the reference you guys are looking for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Extensions\NewMenu\{1D210285-ABE7-11d2-8442-0000F87A584A}
Create a new String Value called 'Default' with the value 'Message' (minus the quotes, of course )
I don't know if this is OS Version / Hardware specific, but here is what I'm using:
HARDWARE: i-mate
ROM Version: 1.52.00WWE
Radio Version: 1.06.01
ExtROM version: 1.52.83
HTH.
I usually go for "NEW E-Mail Message", then change the Service from ActiveSync to SMS.
Sometimes it is arleady set to SMS without having to change it. I think this happens if the last message I sent was an SMS, or if I have just received an SMS. I haven't really looked into when it happens.

Does anyone know where the sound settings have gone for MSN Messenger on the XDA Exec. They used to be in sounds and notifications on the older OS's.
It isnt available in WM2005. Incredible
Not in the usual place anyway. I have also had a search around the registry but i could not find anything obvious.

Here are the registry keys you’ll need to add to your device:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65E-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]
"Options"=dword:00000008

@="Messenger: New Message"
"Wave"="notify"
"Duration"=dword:00000000
After adding these you can go to the Sound and Notifications control panel and customize the notification behavior.

I just created a txt file with the above 2 blocks in it and renamed it to messenger.reg then ran it on the Exec. Now i can set the notifications from the usual place.
Worked fine for me but you attempt at your own risk.

I supposedly did this (its all I've done this morning) but:
a) I can't see the entries in the reg file
b) my data connections no longer work
Dunno how to back out the changes if I can't find them!

Somehow it wiped the password and username settings for the T Mobile 3G / GPRS connection, as well as the password on my exhange server connection... very strange!
I used this code in a text file renamed to messenger.reg
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65E-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]

file imports, i see no keys appear in registry
well it took long enough using resco to edit registry, but it works. thank frek, now i have have msn on in the background and not get pestered every 5 seconds.
Contact online & message notification
just import this registry file,message notification and contact online notification will b solved
cheers
thats what i did in the first place, it was just never showing up in the registry. i then tried adding the key and it said it already existed, then is was visible, but empty, so i manually added the rest and it works fine.

Very strange indeed. The 2 entries are added to the ControlPanel\Notifications section of the registry so should not in anyway affect data connection.
It would be wise for other T Mobile users to take note though just incase. Also if you could post success/failure results it would help to determine what the problem may be.
Also i did not note in my post above that after changing the registry switch your phone off and then soft reset for the settings to take effect.
Getting tired of the messages and sounds pocket msn plays everytime a contact shows up online? Here's the deal to resolve this problem:
Go to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\
(with a program like PHM, Resco)
make a new key:
{A877D65E-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]
Add a string value in this key:
Default="Messenger: Contact Online""
add a string value in this key:
"Wave"="notify"
Add two d-word values in this key:
"Options"=dword:00000008
"Duration"=dword:00000000
(both in decimal)
After that you add:
{A877D65F-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}] in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\
Add a string value in this key:
Default="Messenger: New message"
add a string value in this key:
"Wave"="notify"
Add two d-word values in this key:
"Options"=dword:00000008
"Duration"=dword:00000000
(both in decimal)
If you turn off and turn on your phone after this, you'll see two new options in the tab sounds and notifactions in the configuration menu of your WM 5.0 phone.
w0w...you the man...it was getting really annoying!!!....thanks man works great!!!

Can someone please tell me, after installing the Palm Threaded SMS application on a T-Mobile MDA, how can I remove this program and return everything to normal?
Can I just remove the program or is the ONLY way a hard reset? There must be some other way short of hard resetting the phone, right? Thanks.
depends on which version u have, i believe with the wm5 its only hard reset but with the wm6 version just remove it like any other program i believe
I also want to move to Outlook Mobile again, how is it possible to do that.
Palm Threaded is crap, it is not compatible with Jeyo.

OK WTF. I got a Mogul running stock ROM and I can't get rid of this Palm threaded suxms junk. I tried several things and it still shows up!! Help plz some1
I'm in the same boat right now. I installed it and now there are 2 icons in my programs library. I tried to uninstall it, but the uninstall failed and I still have the app hanging around. I hope I don't have to do a hard reset, but if I have to, I have to.
One thing I miss about my old phone is the "sms sent" confirmation I used to get after sending a message. (also with a little animation).
It's really annoying to have to go round the houses to get to the sent folder to see if a message has been sent or not.
I had a whole day with a load of messages unknowingly sat in the outbox thinking they'd been sent which really annoyed me. It was only after I checked at the end of the day I found out they hadn't
Does such a thing exist for the diamond or is it too dependant on windows mobile.
Also still have not found a decent lock program that locks EVERY button (including the power) and stops me answering calls getting my phone out my pocket and the sleeve. Tied s2u2 and touchlockpro but they are still unreliable
What was wrong with "menu - star" like on the nokias. - Worked a treat !!!
Any help would be appreciated

Alright mate.
Can't help with the locking problem, but here's what you need to do to get notification of SMS sent...
Go to the "messages" tab in TouchFlo and click "all messages". Then click "menu", "tools" and "options". Click "* SMS\MMS" and make sure "Request delivery notifications" is checked.
I don't use this myself, but I just tested it and it works for me.
Hope this helps you out.
John.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
If “Settings” branch does not exist, create a New Key with name as Settings. Then highlight Settings, and then create a new String Value key with value name as SMSNoSentMsg, with its value data as 1.

... you're nearly right. You need to set the value to '0' if you wish to receive a notification that the SMS has been sent. If you set it to '1', you will not receive the notification (this is the default).
Nice one thanks guys. Went for the reg edit as didn't fancy getting a text back from operator every time I send one.
Just for the record yes the value of "SMSNoSentMsg" needs to be 0.
Again cheers for your help
Resurrecting this thread
I discovered this one earlier today, so far I'm liking it.
SMS Retry Notification
Enables/Disables a notification when an SMS message failed to be delivered. The phone will display a Popup displaying a summary of the message, to whom it was sent and when, and ask if you would like to try again.
[HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA] change PhoneExt_SmsRetry
0 - Disable (Default)
1 - Enable
My phone is a Sprint CDMA phone (hence the registry address) but hopefully it's not a Sprint setting and other CDMA phones and maybe GSM phones have a similar location.

Sweet. I also like the original setting in this thread. I like to know when my text is sent. I don't use text that ofte, s this is not an inconvenience to me.
