Automated call divert - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi all
I'm getting my Tytn to use a dual sim adapter, and wanted to get some sort of macro (e.g. a button to click) that would place the sim on call forward to a pre-determined number. Then I could switch to the other sim with no problems.
When I came back to use the original number, press another button (or ideally the same one) and remove the call forward.
Is there anything out there that can do that?
Thanks

Hi,
Have a look here - something similar was discussed a couple of weeks back:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=278466&highlight=speed+dial
Gav.

Thanks!
Searched on the forum for lots of combinations of words, didn't remember to use "forwarding"!! LOL
Cheers for your help, Gavin

The only annoying thing about my XDA II

I'm trying to find a way around taking my work of art breeze block down town on a night out, but I need a phone. Is anyone else in this situation. Ok, so I could buy a payg sim card and stick it in an old unused phone, but then telling everyone I have a different number etc. :x Or, maybe I could divert my calls to another number instead of my answerphone :?:
One of these days i'm gonna leave it in a taxi, fall down and bust it or have it nicked. Any ideas much appreciated
Why not just put your XDA II's SIM card in an unused phone for the night, then when you're done put it back in the XDA II? Thats way u keep the same number and your XDA II stays safe at home
Because it means removing the battery, thus hard resetting and that means having to set up all my gprs settings, install tomtom again, bla bla bla and i can't be bothered to do it every week
Is it possible to forward calls to a certain number?
Removing the battery for a seccond or two doesnt hard reset the phone (or at least it shouldnt) if your really scared though ... do a full backup before ya take the battery out.
The Phone should retain the settings for 20mins (thats what they quote anyway)

Yeah, what I used to do was have a cheapy phone that was easily pocketable (like the V3 Razr) and a payg sim card in it. Just divert all calls to the Razr's number while you're out.
Get home and then next morning when you remember cancel the diversion.
Easy.

Here (Belgium) we can get a sim duplicate (with the same number) for use in car systems etc. But only one can be "on" at a time. so put you XDA in flight mode and turn your small/cheap mobile on or vice versa.
Don't know which one stays connected when you turn both on. the first one connected or the last.
cheers guys. Can we get duplicate sims from service providers in this country??[/quote]

Problem there is that the service provider will charge YOU for the diverted call!

I wonder what would happen if you phoned your SP and said the sim got broken. Would they send you a duplicate, with the same number etc? Might be worth it if they do.
IF not you can duplicate with a blank SIM and software bundle (LINK), a SIM editor (LINK). Check eBay. But from what I have heard it is not easy, takes a long time, and not always successful!
I might try the first option!
If you call your SP, and told them your SIM is broken, they would cancel the serial number (or whatever unique ID inside the chip) and activate the new serial number of the new chip and link it with your account ID. Well, that's what they do here in Canada. two SIMs for one account is feasable, but the two SIMs must have different ID's. If not, there's a big problem with the secirity of the network that offers it.
On O2 you cannot have 2 sims registered on the account. I reccomend either using call divert or just putting your sim in another phone.

can i get my trinity to work with line 2

hi, my provider (orange uk ) supports line 2 ,does anyone know of a way that I can get my device to work with line 2 please?

You're using a dual SIM adaptor. The poster is asking whether the service provided by some operators; whereby you can have two distinct numbers on ONE SIM, will work. The answer appears to be 'no' on PPC devices.
Excuse me if i misunderstood... you mean that there can be no call waiting/ call on hold on PPC phones?

Not that I know of. Anyone else?
Call waiting has nothing to do with 2nd line. Call waiting is an operator service thatt allows you to keep a call on hold/wait while you talk with someone else. IT WORKS on Trinity if your operator has it.
2nd line means that with one SIM you can be reached on two different phone numbers without having two phones and without restarting your phone to switch sims. You can make/receive calls on any of the 2 numbers.
Ok, sorry for the confusion
I know this post is a bit old but the answer is certainly no to having Line 2 on the SPV "M" series (or eqivalent - operator model) seems only the "s", "c" or the newer "e" series of orange branded SPV that support that function.

Athena as second device

i wanted to know how do you guys use athena as a second device?
ideally id like to get a second device dedicated to voice calls only...
but i still want to browse and recieve my emails / sms via the athena..
is there anyway to call from your second device paired with athena using bluetooth ?
I use the Athena as a second device, but I have a "dual sim" subscription (I have two sim cards on the same subscription, both phones rings during incomming calls).

hmm this is interesting how did you do that ?
is it identical sim cards or different ones ?
and whats your provider?
My provider is the norwegian Telenor, and you can add the "Twin-SIM" to any subscription. You then have two SIM-cards with different phone numbers, but both will receive incomming phone calls on your "main phone number". However, if you send SMS from your second SIM card the "sender number" not be the "main phone number".
I like it alot. I have the second SIM card in the Athena, and the main card in TyTN or S620 (depending on my mood ).

what about when you call from your second phone ? does the different number show then too ?
Yes. Sorry I forgot to mention that. But I have turned on "hide Call ID" on the Athena, and I mainly use S620/TyTN for calling...
i c so its basicly two numbers?
hmm i talked to my service provider and they dont have this facility...
i want ideally athena for sms and data and my htc touch for voice...
basicly it would be ideal if the touch could act as a bluetooth headset
Does anyone know if T-Mo UK support this? I'd really like to use my Athena for data and my Tytn for voice on the same account.

Perhaps you could ring them...?
Wow... thanks for the intelligent response...
I was hoping that somebody might already know before I try and navigate TMo's 150 number menus

Have you tried the LG Style-I Bluetooth HandSet with the Athena? I picked one up at Verizon Wireless for 24.95 and it works great with the Athena. I use my plantronics Bluetooth when driving, but stick the small Style-i handset in my front pocket, when walking around or just working in the office. The handset can be used to dial, answer or pick up calls just like another phone, without reaching for the athena. Has called ID, Missed call, etc. Works for me.
i had similar query last year....wanted to use my exec as a headset for the comp...to cut the story short...it could not be done with the MS BT Stack....however it might be possible with another BT Stack on the touch (sorry forgot the name of the stack)

Possible to run two phone accounts (on different carriers) on my Wing?

Is it possible to somehow hack my phone/sim to include two different phone accounts, one being Tmobile and the other Cingular? I dont like carrying around two phones.
you dont need to hack ... it already exist ---- you can buy Sim card with 2 or more telephony provider ... (got 2 czech providers) -.-- when i want to got Vodafone, just a few click, and it will tell me new messages and missed calls, and after i switch to T-mobile and i can continue my work

WoW, didn't know you could get a sim card with two providers on it. My friend got this knockoff iPhone a while ago. Was a really bad knockoff. So bad that the warning label on the back of the phone (where it stated that only apple can use THIS apple logo) was mispelt (lol) waring. Anways back to the original point, the cheap knockoff allowed you to put in two sim cards at once. I can't wait for someone to implement this feature into a windows phone so you can use 'em both at one time. Very useful for us canadians who don't want to shell out a thick wad of cash to use the internet, and would like to use a second sim card for a data connection.
hey
dont mean to thread jack, but can do the reverse? get 2 sim cards with the same info? i love my wing, but for work i need a regular phone. one that is simple, and able to make calls asap.. instead of unlocking, entering a pw and pressing the grn button and than fumbling with the touch screen.. for work i need to be able to flip the phone open with one hand and call emergency numbers as fast as possible, so for work i take my sim card out and put it in a reg tmo phone.. would love to be able to use both phone with 2 diff sims.
any 1 know if its possible?
i know its possible in the netherlands (also t mobile) here its called something like "sim duo" better ask your provider

Should be able to do it with no legal issues, I would think (if you're in the US).
Back in the day (12 - 15 years ago), phones were easily purchased with dual-nams (I had one from Motorola), which is how multiple phone numbers were assigned to a single device before the advent of SIM cards, device locking, long term contracts, etc.
You can get a dual-sim adapter from a couple of companies, but here's a link to one that has several types and lists their compatibility with various phones:
http://www.simore.ch/en/
I used a dual sim adapter briefly in a QTEK. It sucked.
If memory serves network locking is about to become illegal here in UK so I imagine dual sim kit will really take off here shortly.

Wallpaper change based on SIM switched on

I have a Vodafone's TWIN sim card in which I have 2 different numbers: professional number and private number.
I am not concious about what SIM I have switched on in every specific moments so I am spending my money in professional calls and viceversa.
Everytime I want to change from one number to the other I have 2 possibilities:
1.- Turn off and Turn on the Phone in Comm Manager and enter PIN
2.- Use STK Service, selece which number I want ot switch on and enter PIN
I have been searching for a long time a program that changes the Wallpaper (or that writes anything in the main screen) based on the SIM I have switched on so I can be aware about what is the current active SIM at every moment. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything yet.
Also, is there any program to turn off and then turn on the phone with just one click as I am using it very often? Something to switch between sims in a TWIN sim card without entering the PIN?
Could anybody give me any idea? Any program that could help me for some of the mentioned purposes? Any forum in where I could continue my search?
Thank you very much in advance...
for no pin just take the pin of the sim card from the sim card settings. A nokia phone may help you...
Is not there anybody who can help me a little more?
Thank you in advance.....
