Hi,
Ive noticed under Settings>Phone>Settings>GSM/UMTS band that theres an option for UMTS (2100+800).
Im unaware of a 800Mhz UMTS band. Is this a typo?
Thanks
Sure it doesn't read 2100+850?
Just saw it too.. sorry should've checked first!

Hi...
Someone knows how to enable the 3G 850 MHz band in an 900/2100 HSDPA Unlocked Topaz??
I really need to do that, so any help will be very appreciated...
Thanks
I think that is no possible cause is not software who control the band in the phone. If you want 3G in 850 band you need another phone. Thats my opinion.
Mmmm... that's bad to me
But I found this:
http://blogs.zdnet.com/mobile-gadgeteer/?p=1310
This makes exactly what I need with a ROM Update, but for Diamond...
I hope there is a way....
Thanks for your reply BigwaveMx
That's GSM.
Yes, but I thought that maybe in the same way i could fix my problem...
So? No way?
I'm thinking I'll have to sell my Topaz if I want to get 3G...
The radio chip must first support the band before any "unlocking" can take place. I don't think the European versions even support the 850 band.
I think there it's nothing to do with this issue...
Thanks to all for your help anyway...
Can I use the european HD2 in Japan?
They are the same, arent they?!
I ask, because last time I had a UMTS phone with me and I heard only UMTS will work. Data spec doesnt mention UMTS anymore.
Please forgive me my "no no knowlege" in bandwith..
If anything expect GSM will work, I am safe
Didnt look what kind of network it used last time..
Oh come on..
Somebody have to know it
Cant think of the possibility that this question is too hard for xda pros
I have used my HD2 in Tokyo with no problems. It is a quad band on the GSM freq 850/900/1800/1900, but the 3G (HSDPA) is on the 900/2100 freq. 2100 is what Japan and Korea use, and I have used it in both places.

Are all HD2 around the world 900/2100? It seems USA isn't using this band for 3G, or is it?
Do you get HSDPA in Japan?

No, USA doesn't use 900/2100.
See Here

but there's no way to get JP support or input on HD2
I have searched many place and I am getting conflicting info.
I am going to Taiwan in couple days and would like to know if my US TMo HD2 would work with 3G network over there.
Through my research, I believed that most carrier in Taiwan uses UMTS Band I (UMTS2100) for their 3G network.
I know T-Mobile uses UMTS Bnad IV (UMTS1700), but what I am not sure is does the US TMo HD2 has both Band I and Band IV or just Band IV?
In the WinMo setup, there is an option to change Band Frequency and it has both UMTS(1700) and UMTS(2100) as choices. Does that mean it has both Band I and IV?
Also, am I correct that if the frequency is available in WinMo, it would be available in SD loaded Android? I couldn't find when in Android to see available band frequencies
Thanks for any help.

It should work fine. The t-mobile hd2 has both 2100mhz and aws (aka 1700/2100 together. for tmo 3g) for 3g and more for 2g.
Thanks guys.
Neither HTC or T-Mobile display the band frequency using the standard format so it's kind of confusing.
Thanks for clearing it up for me
Happy Holidays

To provide some evidence, I just got back from Taiwan and it works fine on FarEastTone and Chunghwa.
3G works well here in Taiwan.
I am sending it from Vibo network.
Just a note, only Vibo network have pre pay data sim.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

they are all quad band for GSM but your 3G bands are probably 900/2100 or 800/850/1900/2100

Hiya,
Maybe a simple question, but how do I check what band of 4G/LTE my phone is compatible with? I thought it was universal on Edge+ but it isnt picking up 4G, just HSPA+.
model: SM-G928I
This is the specs for this phone
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s6_edge+-7467.php
o2 uses band 20(800mhz) which this phone doesn't support

Also when I dial in 'service setting' (*#2263#) And go to Network Setting>Band Selection> [4] LTE Band Seletcion, one of the options on there is "D]LTE_20"
If that's selectable, doesn't that mean my phone should work?
Sorry can't help you there. I've asked kind of the same question as was thinking about buying the Asian version. As far as I'm aware you can't change bands(or so I've been told on here).
Hopefully someone will come along who knows more.
