Hi,
I'm trying to share my GPRS connection with my friend who has the IPAQ 1940. I'd like to use the Bluetooth connection.
I am using the BluetoothGPS.zip bluetooth stack which is basically the IPAQ one.
Can I just initate a SSA connection on the IPAQ and it'll automatically dial on mine?
To share Xda II intenet access to group of ppc or PC, I use pocketpcproxy (I named it ).
But that program are not perfected yet. If you are interesting, please check at http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=72
or http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/default.asp
Thanks, that's what i'm looking for...
BUT I noticed that the Widcomm bluetooth hacked drivers cause a lot of problems with the Pocket PC... Once you install that, your regular bluetooth gets messed up.
Also, you cannot use the Widcomm for SSA.
I'll email him anyway, thanks
Hi, All!
I have a JAM and HP iPAQ hx4700 and i want to use my JAM as a bluetooth GPRS modem for iPAQ. Can anyone tell me how can I do this?
Imate - Jam as GPRS modem
Lots of people want this also.
You need to sort the bluetooth stack out first
Something like BT Tools would be nice
Can anyone out there help?

what is bt tools? I cant find this program
Has anyone gotten the imate JAM working as a GPRS modem via BT with any other PPC's or iPaqs?
I've just installed Pocket BT Tools... didn't do any good.
This should work (event though I don't understand the sense of it). The SSA profile is platform independent and when the stack of the HP is capable of using this profile from another device, it should work. Let me put it like this - if you can use it with your Pc, you should be able to use it with the IPaq.

I want to use the HP HX4700 for surfing because of its 480x640 VGA screen. I can pair the HX4700 and imate JAM via BT just fine. However, when the HX4700 attemps to use the JAM's GPRS connection, the JAM never dials out. The HP eventually returns an error message "cannot connect..." I've tried using the JAM's wireless modem app as well, with the same results. I'm not certain where the whole process is breaking down.
What parameters do you use? You should do the same as for your PC. Have you successfully connected to your Magician's modem with your PC? If not, try that first. Search the forum for tips.

My PC doesn't have any BT hardware, so I can't exactly test it using that platform. My HP HX4700 can use my SE P910a as a BT modem without any problems. The question is whether or not the imate JAM and/or the HX4700 both have the required software to share the GPRS connection. I've already paired the two devices -- they can see each other. However, when I attempt to connect to the JAM from my HX4700 to use its GPRS internet connection, then JAM doesn't initiate the auto-dial-out.
As far as parameters, I just go through the BT wizard on both my HP HX4700 and imate JAM. I can complete both wizard questionaires without any problems. The only part that breaks down is the actual JAM GPRS dial-out, which never starts automatically as it should.

Hi,
I tried to use my loox 720 with magician too, it doesn't work in BT but works i n infrared.
do not laugh !!
Hi,
can i use my magician as a bluetooth headset for skype, voipbuster and so on?
I'm using latest bluesoleil stack on my ppc and widcomm stack on pc. On the PC i enabled the bluetooth gateway service but when i search for available services from bluesoleil's bluetooth manager, it cannot discover this one.
Did some of you succeeded in this? Should i use a different bluetooth stack? (i know that there are three different stacks for magician: MS one, bluesoleil and another one i don't remember the name).
Thanks for help,
I will call you @home to thank you if you find a solution (but you'll have to excuse my POOR english)!!!
Bye,
Isidoro
If you just want to use skype, try it this way. Use active sync via blue-tooth or if you have gprs it would be even better. There is a PPC version of skype available. Download and use it.
Visit www.cartystudios.com for more ppc stuffs

Thanks but my problem is: i need to use voipbuster since it allows me to call home numbers (like skypeout) but FREE. Voipbuster can be used with any SIP compatible softphone and sjphone is one of them.
Unluckily, sjphone won't work with an activesync passthrough connection (that is: a bluetooth serial port conn to ActiveSync with the latter acting as a proxy to the Internet) since ActiveSync doesn't allow UDP connections.
Then i tried installing bluesoleil stack and creating a PAN connection with my pc (in windows server 2003 i bridged bluetooth and LAN NIC together). Now i can use sjphone but, don't know why, call quality is ORRIBLE!!! Maybe bandwidth is not enough.
Weird thing: when i browse the Web through AS (via bluetooth serial connection) i have a 220-260Kbps throughput, with PAN i can only reach 120Kbps!!! Maybe Bluesoleil stack is not so good or maybe PAN connections have a way greater overhead!!!
Anyway, i've just bought a new MDA Vario (Qtek 9100) WiFi enabled PPC so i hope i'll be able to use sjphone in a decent way.
Thanks for your help,
Bye,

its possible to change the dopod 838 microsoft bluetooth to widcomm ??
bcos the microsoft cannot play multiplayer games using bluetooth
or anyway to fool the game so it can be use with microsoft bluetooth,
thx
If that was possible it would be great. Does anyone knows what is the bluetooth chip that's inside the Wizards??
Why the hell that the Qtek 9090 can be change the bluetooth driver on the wm2005 and the wizards don't?? Is it because of the chip inside?
Hi guys,
I am trying now for days to sat up a bluetooth-connection, so to get ActiveSync to work with my TYTN/ O² XDA Trion, but somehow it doesn´t work.
My Sony SZ-250C /P uses a Toshiba BT-Stack.
Might that be the problem?
The Stack notices the O² XDA Trion as a modem, I can connect it via a COM-Port, too, means I can send stuff, but ActiveSync doesn´t work.
Actually the O² XDA Trion has only two free ports?
Port 0 and 9?
That are the only ones I can select in the Receiving and sending Ports (dunno the right name for your english device) and the don´t get noticed by ActiveSync. Those ports are also added by me in the Port-List of the Toshiba Stack.
Does anybody have an idea?
It would be really appreciated.
Same problem with bluetooth
Hello, I have the same problem. I could do it only one time, but after or the TYTN find only a com port and not an activesync server, or the connection do not work at all
did you find a solution ??
regards
Salvo
