Jam as a GPRS modem - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi, All!
I have a JAM and HP iPAQ hx4700 and i want to use my JAM as a bluetooth GPRS modem for iPAQ. Can anyone tell me how can I do this?

Imate - Jam as GPRS modem
Lots of people want this also.
You need to sort the bluetooth stack out first
Something like BT Tools would be nice
Can anyone out there help?

what is bt tools? I cant find this program

Has anyone gotten the imate JAM working as a GPRS modem via BT with any other PPC's or iPaqs?
I've just installed Pocket BT Tools... didn't do any good.

This should work (event though I don't understand the sense of it). The SSA profile is platform independent and when the stack of the HP is capable of using this profile from another device, it should work. Let me put it like this - if you can use it with your Pc, you should be able to use it with the IPaq.

I want to use the HP HX4700 for surfing because of its 480x640 VGA screen. I can pair the HX4700 and imate JAM via BT just fine. However, when the HX4700 attemps to use the JAM's GPRS connection, the JAM never dials out. The HP eventually returns an error message "cannot connect..." I've tried using the JAM's wireless modem app as well, with the same results. I'm not certain where the whole process is breaking down.

What parameters do you use? You should do the same as for your PC. Have you successfully connected to your Magician's modem with your PC? If not, try that first. Search the forum for tips.

My PC doesn't have any BT hardware, so I can't exactly test it using that platform. My HP HX4700 can use my SE P910a as a BT modem without any problems. The question is whether or not the imate JAM and/or the HX4700 both have the required software to share the GPRS connection. I've already paired the two devices -- they can see each other. However, when I attempt to connect to the JAM from my HX4700 to use its GPRS internet connection, then JAM doesn't initiate the auto-dial-out.
As far as parameters, I just go through the BT wizard on both my HP HX4700 and imate JAM. I can complete both wizard questionaires without any problems. The only part that breaks down is the actual JAM GPRS dial-out, which never starts automatically as it should.

TOSHIBA E800 with WM 2003SE - Works !
IPAQ 1940 - Does Not Work !!
Loox 720 - Does not Work !
Using bluetooth SSA protocoll and the Wireless Modem application on the MDA Compact side (I-MATE ROM WWE112 english )
On IPAQ and Loox 720 same kind of error is reported (cannot connect for an unknown reason)

Sharing GPRS connection on XDA2 with IPAQ using BluetoothGPS

Hi,
I'm trying to share my GPRS connection with my friend who has the IPAQ 1940. I'd like to use the Bluetooth connection.
I am using the BluetoothGPS.zip bluetooth stack which is basically the IPAQ one.
Can I just initate a SSA connection on the IPAQ and it'll automatically dial on mine?
To share Xda II intenet access to group of ppc or PC, I use pocketpcproxy (I named it ).
But that program are not perfected yet. If you are interesting, please check at http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=72
or http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/default.asp
Thanks, that's what i'm looking for...
BUT I noticed that the Widcomm bluetooth hacked drivers cause a lot of problems with the Pocket PC... Once you install that, your regular bluetooth gets messed up.
Also, you cannot use the Widcomm for SSA.
I'll email him anyway, thanks

Toshiba bluetooth stack ROCKS...

I installed the Toshiba bluetooth stack on my I-Mate Jam and it ROCKS - it includes ALL the functionality/profiles missing in the MS stack!
...BUT...
It is unstable as hell (I have experienced all sort of "cosmetic" issues) and I am fairly sure this is due to the fact that both MS and Toshiba stacks try to use the same bluetooth hardware SIMULTANEOUSLY.
...SO...
has anyone figured how deinstall/reinstall the microsoft bluetooth stack on a Magician (I-Mate Jam, Qtek S-100, MDA Compact, XDA Mini)?

So, what "ROCKS" about it?
Always do full backup b4 installing sware.
it does what the MS BT stack does (serial port, headset, activesync), but also adds other profiles (pan, dun, obex, ftp, chat + others from memory)
i.e send files/chat with other mobile phone users, access bt pan, etc... though i am only interested in pan, chat and obex
when i fisrt played with it, i immediately saw why everyone whinges with the bt stack...
it's excellent and stable for me, didn't expierence any bugs...
dutty:
Did you get pan working ?
If so can you please let me know how?
Thanks,
Martin
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
uh, just started the service, restarted the device and connected to it!
BUT, i also installed the toshiba BT stack on my workstation
I'm kinda interested ...

And just more thing ... How did u manage to get that bluetooth stack to run on xda devices since it keeps checking for external SD bluetooth cards and was not designed for internal bluetooth chips ?
Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15382&highlight=
Thanks for the link ....... BUT !!
I was able to download the Toshiba BT Stack v5.01 but it won't seem to work on my xda !! Everytime I tap on Bluetooth Setting (from toshiba) It says the following ' An error occurred with the Bluetooth Card. Confirm that the card is working properly.
Both my MS Stack and Widcomm Stacks are disabled and don't conflict with this new Toshiba Stack.
I was wondering how the thread owner got this BT stack running on his xda ?
It works on my XDA Mini just fine. The only problem I'm having is that it won't stay resident when you power off the device.

Any sugestions ??? :?:

RE
Sorry, another question.
In the event of a hard reset will my O2 XDA II restore the MS stack with whatever registry settings that were deleted in the process of installating the Toshiba bt stack? Will the Toshiba bt stack be totally removed in the evnet of a hard reset?
Thanks again

Found 2 problems.

Cannot Accept call with button on headset.
Any more Problems ???
Please post your problems ..
Hi
i´ve tested the toshiba bt software on my MDA-Compact but haven´t got very good results. First, after installation, it seems to work good with my Royaltek RBT 3000 (GPS), but after i´ve switched off the device while an active bt connection was established with my gps software, the bt-stack broks down and the whole systems seems to be unstable. Even after a softreset the bt-software from toshiba says that they didnt recognize any bt hardware.
Now i am trying to deinstall the bt-soft and can recommend everybody who wants to test to make an backup before ;-)
I think that the software from toshiba could work, when the ms-bt-stack would be completly changed with the toshiba-stack, but doesnt work without problems when both bt-stacks are on the system.

I know but how to install it on Magician  ?
have you tried the normal vidcomm cab files found around this forum ?
they should work for xda2's but then they were not made for xda2's so maybe it works on yours as well?

Is dectection set on on ur computer, and does your bleutooth stack support the PAN profile?
me too, i've placed a BT PAN enabling topic 3 times. geuss you guys haven't noticed
windows installs the PAN service and i have the option/canconnect to my device via PAN from windows, but my device cannot detect the PAN or any service on my PC.
what kind of device you have, i remember i had the option too when i installed widcomm BT stack. but it crashed my device later. i have a htc wizard. PAN does work on wm5 but i don't have it in my rom
As its a Magician forums i thought it would be obvious?
I got an MDA compact with the Qtek WWE 1.12 ROM.
Using the Bluesoleil stack with the Cambridge Sillicon stack aswell.
My bluetooth adapter on my PC is generic, i actually have no idea what it is!

External Bluetooth modem on BA?

Has anyone got to work any external Bluetooth modem with any of BA WM6 ROMs?
I am trying to use Nokia N95 as modem from my Qtek 9090 upgraded to latest WM6 ROM from xplode. Even though pairing and initial modem setup goes OK, all further attempts to use modem fail. From N95 I don't even see that BA is trying to establish Bluetooth connection to Dial-Up Networking service. I have MS Bluetooth stack, one that comes with original ROM from xplode.
Any help is very appreciated. Thanks.
In theory there should be no problem - after pairing you have list of services from your cell phone and you should be able to use DialUp (and number *99# or *99***x#, where x is connection CID number, if finally Nokia found out what is CID) or Bluetooth PAN, if n95 has fuction similar to Internet Sharing, like WM6.
I used this method successfully with nokia 6230i, SE k750i and k810i (the first one worked fine even in ppc2003, but ir required a bit of fight).
I have been successful in using my SX66 as modem for my laptop.
My N95 is perfectly working with laptops too. It actually also worked with some Asus PPC. I also know how to setup external modems in WM6 and how they should theoretically work. But I could not make any phone working with BA/WM6.
In the original post I asked whether or not has anyone succeeded to make their BlueAngel PDA working with "phone as Bluetooth modem"?
If answer is YES, please tell me how you did that and also specify the ROM version.
