well i lent my friend my mda while i was in class and i guess he was trying to get onto the internet, he accidentally deleted the data connection. when he meant to tap connect.
How do i get it back? all help is appreciated
it is a t-mobile data connection. thanks
anyone??? i really need help with this i have no clue as to how to get it back
Just call your phone provider and they will talk you through adding it again.
so thats the only possible way to get back my connection???
What provider? Cingular or T-Mobile?
im with t-mobile i really want this connection back. im paying for the total internet package and cant use it.
i would call but the account is not under my name. so when i call i dont really remember the personal info such as ss# etc.
Hopefully your account is legal as it doesn't sound normal that you would have a paying account, but no access to customer service (as you have to know who's name it is under i would presume).
I'll help this time, but this really sounds like your using a hot phone...
If you're using T-Mobile US then follow the instructions here: http://tmobileusotw.wdsglobal.com/
oh. nahh im using a good phone, its not a hot phone, its jus that my mother put it under her name for me but me and her had a major argument AFTER the connection was deleted and i didnt really wanna ask her anything.
trust me the phone aint stolen.
thanks for the link though

Well don't be so quick to assume. T-Mobile will ask for ssn or security question. You can't do anything even if you have the contractor's name. But support will give the link without needing any of that.

I was assuming simply because it would seem strange to me that he would have an active phone and not know the person's information who's it is under. If he did i would assume calling them up and saying "Hey i need you to be on the line while i call T-Mobile" wouldn't be unrealistic. His reason is one i can understand, but that wasn't given prior to my response and was why i reasoned that way.
Sorry if i offended anyone.
Did the link fix your problem?

Yea..i went kayaking today. Let a friend of mine look after it for me. He left it on the pier with the case on. And when I came back later..it was gone~ I saw some peeps earlier that were getting their boats lifted up which was the same side where the phone was....
I have lock code on the sim..the phone also... I just wish i can locate it some how... Noone picks up when I call the number. I should be looking around in ebay if it shows up there...

That's sad..it will be nice if phone companies could implement an embedded software which will allow a user to hard program a number to call when the thieves pop in their own SIM. I know there are softwares out there that can do this trick now but if the thieves HARD RESET your phone, these software has no use at all.

There is a cell phone in china I saw the advertisement on tv, forget the name but anyway, If it is stolen anytime a sim is put into it(not the origional) the phone will not work but will send messages to you telling you the information of the sim that was installed in it. It will not work unless the sim that you setup the phone with is installed and of course you can change sims if you have all the codes etc AND the origional sim installed. There is also no way around it no hard resets nothing. Seemed kinda nifty but was really a crap phone for other features.
Couldn't you cook it into the ROM? In the same way my Trion installs a cab for the O2 settings, install a CAB for sending messages to tell you it has been messed with.
(Obviously, we'd have to find a piece of open source software or each do it ourselves.... or would a trial of the Sprite software be sufficient?)

I believe your idea will work. If we cooked this piece of software along with the registry/entry for the SIM into the ROM, then even a hard reset won't able to wipe that out. I guess I will have to cook my own rom and give it a try. If this idea works, then each one of us will have to cook our own rom or provide our SIM, IMEI and profile to other rom cookers to cook a personalized rom.

I agree with you!
I cooked my Schaps ROM with UTA (Ultimate Theft Alert v.3), a software that can permit to retrieve a SMS from your PDA at the SIM changes.
It runs very well. And It obviously resists to hard-resets!
i want one cooked rom of that for my tytn too
couldnt tyou use the softare mentioned above and put the cab file in your ext mem so if is is hard rest it would set its self back up

Put in ext rom will not work if a thieve know how to soft reset it before the ext rom runs. Of course if a thieve has enough knowledge of this type of phone, he can load a clean rom before he pop in another SIM then the anti-thieve software will have no effect at all even we cooked it into the rom.
Man..sooo many knowledgeable people in this forum! Awesome forum site!
I have had Cingular for a few years, I dont remember whare I learned this, I think it was a combersation with a Cingular Rep, I you call and report your phone stollen that phone whill no longer work.
I had the razr and lost it in my house, not able to find it, phone was off, was not able to call and hear the ring. I had Insurance, called Cingular and they send me to the Insurance dep ( diferent company ) told tham the story and they told me that if I tell tham that it was stollen that phone will not be activated, it will be a brick.
I said it was lost in my house and that I did not wanted to report it stollen, then send me another one, and later found the lost phone, I than Had two phones
I dont know if its true or not, as I was not able to test what the rep told me.
Try calling T-mobile and see what happends.
What the carrier would do is block the IMEI number on the stolen phone from accessing their network. However, to get around this, the thief could just change the IMEI. Or "Sir Steals-a-lot" could simply unlock it and use it on another carrier with no problem. Unfortunately there's always a way around the system (that's good and bad ).
edit: Forgot to mention, for AT&T customers, there is no insurance offered for their PDA or "high tech" phones. So, you'd have to get some kind of 3rd party insurance.

From what I have seen the most knowledgable people about these phones are in this forum and have enough integrity not to take it in the first place.
In general, John Q. Public would rather send the phone back to mfgr/carrier, and have everything like roses than do a little research and gain some knowledge about his device.
To the OP, I am sorry for your loss. I hate thieves.
I believe most of the GSM providers are sharing data now which means once an IMEI was blocked, it will no longer work on other carrier, even in other part of the world.
I called tmo to see if they can put it on the stolen list. And the rep said they dont have such a LIST. And the guy didnt give me any other options with the stolen phone.
Well time to look for another cheap 8525~
okay,i have a family plan with my dad.

is there any posible way or trick or something that i can do to acitvate my phone!!!
i have alltel when i lived in virginia.but now im in pr and i cant activate the phone over here cause theres no alltel here, can i activate the phone with sprint?

I think you said:
1. I am on a family plan with my dad on Alltel.
2. Even though my dad pays for my cell phone service, I call him rude names.
3. I have moved to a location that Alltel does not serve.
4. I would like to activate my phone with Sprint service, which presumably is available in my new location.
Does Alltel allow you to use roaming service in your new location? Did your dad deactivate your phone? Maybe you could try respectfully asking him about that...
If you activate service with a different carrier, you will not be on your dad's family plan anymore. That probably means you will have to pay for your own cell phone service, but does not give you permission to call him more rude names. You can try activating the phone with Sprint, but usually they will only accept phones that were originally sold for Sprint service and the ESN (unique phone serial number) is on their list.
i still pay the bill cause its under my name first of all!!!
and yes hes an asshole, cause he tried to beat up my three month old kid!!
how can i get that password?
1. if its in YOUR name and YOU pay the bill why cant YOU call sprint and activate it ?
2. Pops sounds like a loon if he did try to fight an infant.
Here are the Facts:
You cannot hack service into your phone if it has been deactivated...
You cannot retrieve the password unless your dad speaks it to you or you locate it elsewhere...
You cannot activate your account via Alltel, Sprint, etc without your dad's relevant information...
You cannot utilize a device in a area that is not supported by your device's carrier services...
You can likely switch your service on your device to another, however... it will not be easy...
You can likely get a phone activated into your own name and free yourself from parental obligation...
And you most likely need to keep your kids away from your dad if he is abusive...
thanx again for all your help,it just sucks having a cool phone with a whole lot of apps and no service :/

If the account is under your name and you pay the bill, call Alltel and get them to reset the password.
OR, if the account is under your name and you pay the bill, close the account and open a new one without your dad on it.

yup, things we don't need to know for $200 Alex.
1) We don't want to hear about your family problems, this is an XDA forum.
2) We don't want to see posts denegrating other people, again, the XDA forum thing.
3) We'd love to answer your questions, if you are up front with all of the details in your OP.
As far as I can tell, you still aren't giving us the details. I'd say, but the looks of your posts, you are trying to scam your Father. Otherwise, you'd be able to change the password on "your" account because it is in "your" name, and "you" pay for it.
Something isn't quite right with your story.
I have a client that asked me this.
They bought an unlocked At&t Tilt from ebay and put there immix sim card in. The phone works but she decided to add a data plan. Immix asked them for some sort of number. 1st i'm curious... will the tilt work in there data plan? Anything special to getting this to work? I've never used immex before. Anyone have any ideas?
I've never seen anyone try this either but i would think it would be possible. Anyone have any incite at all or guess?
First thing, are you sure they even have a data plan? I checked the website and didn't see any...
I thought the same thing, but she called. they needed some sort of number. She thought a ip address. That shouldn't be though as it should be assigned when you go online.
Are you sure it's not asking for an unlock code?

they gave her a pin number... But the phone was susposed to be unlocked already... or would there carrrier have to unlock it? I haven't tried this yet. I'll have to talk to her more about it...
The phone didn't ask for the unlock. Her carrier when she called about a data plan said she needed some sort of ip which doesn't make sense to me.
Doesn't make sence to me either. Seems to me they gave you some kinda weird code.. Why not call back and see? Ask her for more information.

I will on Monday (tomorrow) as they are closed for the weekend.
Yeah got me lost.
Update on this. The carrier signed her up for the wrong plan. The carrier though doesn't sell and mobile windows phones so wasn't sure if it would work. It did, and the customer is happy with a At&t tilt using another carrier "immix"
Hi, first post so be gentle lol
Can't figure this out guys, I've an unlocked X10i de-branded, problem I've got is I'm unable to make or receive calls or texts, strange thing is the data side of things works fine, internet on edge or 3G works perfectly well. Phone displays my carrier (O2-UK) shows signal strength and updated the time/date instantly.
If I go into the call setting menu, and say for instance try to turn on call waiting , I get an error message saying 'Network or SIM card error'. I contacted O2 to see if there was maybe something they had to activate/authorise their end, but was told no, although their sending me out a new SIM card. My current SIM card works fine in my other phones (Samsung, iphone) plus I've tried a Vodafone and Orange SIM in the X10i with the exact same problem, which leads me to think it's the phone side of things rather than carrier thats need sorting.
The phone's current firmware version is 1.6, Baseband 1.0.16, build number R1FA016. I'm desperate to to use this phone as it clearly has loads of potential..!!
Many thanks.
Is the x10 2nd hand? Were you able to make and receive calls before you debranded?
The x10 could have been reported lost or stolen and blacklisted. Or I guess It could be a physical fault with the contacts in the sim card slot.
Try sim card in any other phone first

Thanks for the reply, yes the phones 2nd hand but I don't know enough about it's past history as to wether its blacklisted or not, but I couldn't make calls before I debranded. Fortunately the person I bought it from is a colleague, so if it is indeed blacklisted then I will get my money back no problem which is a relief..!!.
Any idea how I go about finding out if it's blacklisted? is it just a case of calling my service provider? Thanks again.

They could have sold it to you and reported it stolen in order to get a new handset through insurance. Some people think it's an easy way to essentially get a "free" handset. Providers protect themselves by making those "stolen" phones blacklisted.
This has happened many times before to many people, he might not have known it was going to be blacklisted and sold it to you. If this is the case, I certainly hope you get your money back.
And to answer your question, contact the provider that the phone was locked to. Tell them you bought this phone from someone else and it is not making calls or sms, you want to know if it is blocked or something. If so, mention that you will contact the police to get your money back. That way they know you are serious and not just a thief who wants to know if they can sell this phone. Consult your "friend" before you do this, because if he is pulling a scam they will nail him for fraud if you call them and inform them he sold it to you.

Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated. I'll be having 'words' with him tomorrow trust me!
Me too.
Hey I was wondering if had been able to fix our X10, I have exactly the same problem. I tried resetting the factory settings, and it worked I started to be able to send and recieve text/calls, only to wake up this morning and find it stopped working again?
wondered if you have been able to fix yours, any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
I have a similar problem, since debranding it shows as "no service". If I go close to my window at home I get one bar. The only time I can get full service (3G) is when i'm at work and that is because I am 10 meters away from a mast! Other than that it struggles.
I've tried to roll back to the branded software to see if that it the problem but it doesn't want to roll back (I made sure I saved the original files).
Hello everyone,
Well, here I am again... Seems like the last question is too long or maybe too hard so, no one reply or give me some idea...
This one is easier... After over a month that my Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 can't use as a phone... I decided to call Samsung Service today and the Samsung engineer there told me that... because the phone that I have is the outside country phone so, when the operator knows that I use the phone that is not paid tax to import they cut off my signal that's why I can't use this S4 phone as a PHONE!!!
The Samsung engineer advise me that I need to change the board which will cost me about 6500 bahts and because my phone is not in warranty I have to pay another 1000 bahts for service, which means I have to pay about 243 US. Dollars for them...well let's say 245 US.Dollars...in case the currency change tomorrow...
The status of the phone is all unlock... Since the very first day that I bought the phone it can make call and connect 3G, can connect WiFi...can do anything this S4 phone supposed to do for me until the efs corrupted and imei and serial numbers changed... after I fix all the problem the phone works fine except can't make any call... said not registered on network...
So, my friends... please, advise... Do I really need to change the board(for 245 US.Dollars) to make the phone becomes a PHONE again or...there is another solution for this...(Maybe I should buy new phone...that's not Samsung...)
Is it true that...when your operator knows that you use the phone that's not for your country they will block your signal...?(I use prepaid phone...) I asked my operator they said it's the phone's problem...well the Samsung guy said it's the phone's problem also and the only way to fix it is to change the board...(Seriously???... :crying
I've ever use the phone that I bought from outside country before... It works fine... maybe because it never had imei problem...
Please, I need your opinion... tomorrow I'll go see the Samsung guy... :fingers-crossed:
Best regards,
Angel S.

So, turn it in for repair or request a new device. Should be covered by warranty, so no issue if you`re legit. Don`t go asking here how to change the Imei number or i`am going to report you to a moderator.

Ok...thanks for the link... and sorry for my temper... you have no idea how much stress I have, it's been over a month now that all I can do is searching through internet read thousands of threads and comments and here I am...only few steps to the goal...but I can't reach it...
So, please let me explain a little bit more of my situation...
The phone works... I can connect to internet. Use social app like whatsapp, line, facebook, twitter and many more... but can't make any call... the imei is also fine... when I dial *#06# it shows up my original imei... the serial number is fine...when I check the phone's status it shows the original S/N, The baseband is also shows in phone's status too... the signal bar is full most of the time...
So, the only thing is not fine is... I can't make any call...(even the signal is full...) that's all... when I dial number and make call it said "Not registered on network" I have the efs backup now. The good one...so, thank you for the link...actually I've ever tried that before but I guess it doesn't hurt to do it again...
Tomorrow I'll meet Samsung technician... to see what he can do...
Best regards,
Angel S.
