Hi,
I am using a Orange SPV M1000 on vodafone sim. This month I got a bill of more than £60.00 for calls being made to a number +44 7973100500. Now I think this number is for connection to Orange WAP services.
I want to disable this. I have already deleted the phone numbers to the Orange CSD WAP, Orange WAP, Orange GPRS and Orange MMS.
I have also selected under settings -> Network management 'Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:' to 'My ISP'.
Even after changing these settings I am still being billed for the above said number.
Can anybody please help me out ASAP.
Thanks and regards,
RAJ
Have you tried removing all connections under settings/connections?

Thanks for your reply, I spoke to Orange today and I think I have now removed all the Orange connections from the settings.
The problem however also lies to the fact that it has connect to WAP all this time without my knowledge. I neither browse the internet from the PDA not have I got email setup on this PDA. I think, it always has connected to the Orange WAP after a soft reset. Orange seems to ignore this fact, saying that I am now with Vodafone so it is not their problem. Where as vodafone does not want to take the responsibility as it is not one of their phones.
The other problem is that, I cannot find out whether this phone is still connecting to the Orange WAP without my knowledge. Vodafone (rather singlepoint) can not find this out untill it is billed and it is too late by then. So, I end up paying a long bill. Its really annoying.
Is there anyway I can double check whether it is indeed connected when I soft reset it? Tried using IE but it says that you are not connected to internet.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Rajiv
Hi, I own both a jam and a htc universal. now I only have one sim and tend to keep this in my jam (universal is just huge) but I want to web surf/email from the universal.
Any ideas how I can get the uni to use the jam as gprs source? Ive tried to create a new modem and point to the jam, but the wizard wants me to input a phone number to dial for gprs. confusing stuff.
Any help much appreciated. Thanx

My user manual says to fill in a '99' as the phone number to dial, so give it a try...
Hi,
When using your device as modem from the pc, you use *99# so maybe that's it?
Connecting to a SonyEricsson phone uses *99***X# where X is the APN number stored in the phone..
Or to use default APN: *99#
thanks guys! worked a treat.

Hello,
I just bought a SPV M3000 that I unlocked, find if really great, but have one major issue, I used to connect to Internet with a dial-up number with my Qtek 9090 and wanted to do the same with my SPV, but impossible, I configured everything correctly (even tried 2 different Internet providers), but nothing, the SPV just dial the number and then nothing happens, it just says after 1 minute appr. that the connexion is impossible and I should check my parameters...
Is there a correlation to the fact that I unlocked it ? Or is there an issue with my modem and if yes how could I check that my modem doesn't work ?
thanks for any info on it.
Can the 8525 dial in to my internet providers access number and access the internet via dial up networking?
Thanks
Ok, here is what I am doing.
Start-->Settings-->Connections-->Connections-->add new modem connection.
My Connection - Name
Cellular Line - Select a Modem
Enter number for my dial up service
Enter Username
Enter Password
Leave Domain Blank
(no changes to the advanced section)
Click Finish
When I select the new profile "My Connection" and tell it to connect, I am again prompted for my password. I enter my password and press OK
It says connecting to "My Connection" and Connecting using Cellular Line.
This flashes up twice then I get the message:
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Edit:
one other thing that I tried was putting in my home phone number as the number to dial. When I try to connect, it doesn't seem to even be dialing the number because my home phone did not ring or anything.
Seems that Cingular does not allow this according to this thread
That really sux!
Lantern20,
I'm using a HTC Tytn in Sweden that is Operator free. I then use the chip from my company's subscription to Vodafone (Telenor). Everything works fine, including GPRS, but I get the same message as you do when trying a dial-up connection.
And, same as you, it doesn't seem to dial at all. The message comes too quick. If I manually dial the dial-up number, the modem answers in the other end, so the number is okay.
I haven't checked if Vodafone still allow CSD in their network (according to the thread you pointed out), but I do believe they do, since I already used the same chip in a Sony-Ericsson phone to dial-up. So, it seems that dial-up works with my chip.
Anybody comment???
I'm having the same problem. The strange thing is that I tried dialing manually on my phone to the ISP and I can hear the modem pick up on the other end. Any insights?
Dial-up Connection
I can get mine to connect but I am unable go load browser pages.
I had a 8125 that worked great.
hi, i just got a t-mobile MDA vario. its working arite on my operator but the only problem im facing is that it doesnt connects with my operator's GPRS. ive tried using another operator but still im unable to connect or browse thru it. Their CSR told me to get it reinstalled with an i-mate kjam configurations.
can sumbody help me out with it???
tx
Since you say T-mobile MDA vario i am assuming your using T-mobile Uk, all you need to do is create a new connection and enter general.t-mobile.uk as ur APN and then connect, no other settings needed. leave the username and password blank...
Start>Settings>Connections>Connections> Add a new modem connection (under my isp)> type in a connection name e.g My Connection select Cellular line (GPRS) as your modem> type the apn > blank username and pass> click connect and your done!!
hope that helps !
hey thx for the reply buddy, although i have a t-mobile mda vario but as i mentioned that im not using t-mobile services. I'm not even in uk is there any possibility that the gprs in this one is only compatible with t-mobile??? or is there anyother solution?
look on the ftp maybe for the extended roms of the imate or you can go online and lookup the settings that you would put into the connection part of the phone in the control panel.
who is your provider
Try hard resetting the device and try to connect again.
This has worked for me in the past when I had problems connecting.
im in pakistan. and i've configured my handset according to their settings but it's isnt working. i've checked with another operator but its of no use either.
can you please pass me the ftp link???
hard resetting goes like???
im a newbie
ok im done with the hard resetting, but its of no use in this case. where can i get ROM for its imate equivalent??
what if i have t-mobile mda in us what apn would i put?
knock knock... can somebody throw some light n help me out of it
