Hello everibody,
I have an annoying problem: my Qtek sometimes prevents waking up! And only a soft reset can power it on!!!
But the crappiest thing, is that the device doesn't power on when it's cold! I have tested it!!!
PLZ HELP
It's an hardware prob? It's better to send it to repair? Thx
Oh, another thing  when the device is power off (and I can't power it on) the green led is still acting like normal, it even stops when no coverage is present. If I try to call to the S100, it rings but I can't do nothing? :?
Great forum, anyway. I have solved nearly ALL of my Qtek probs.
I will add these infos:
ROM: 1.06.04 ITA
RADIO: 1.05.00
Note: I have already tried with an Hard Reset. Nothing resolved. The device simply won't power up when it's below 20° C. And I don't know why.
Your Magician seems to be a candidate for the repair shop of for an exchange. Never heard about a problem like yours
Cheers
Uff... Nobody (except me) have this prob? Can someone try this? Before sending it to repairing, I would figure this s**t out! And maybe find a valid solution...
AND: How can I do the BigStorage trick on my ITA ROM? I know how, but with the other languages... Don't want a foreign ROM only for 20+MB...
I think upgrading the ROM can't change anything, if it's an hardware problem... I want an active device in this winter, cannot reset it all the time!
Possible Solution?
Yet nobody seems to have my prob. But before sending my S100 to the pocket pc heaven, I will explain a possible scenario. I've read that cold can reduce the battery charge dramatically. So what I am thinking:
1) The unit is absolutely normal when warm.
2) When the unit is cold, is STILL normal.
3) When I shut down the unit, the LED is STILL blinking.
4) But then -what the hell- it seems CAN'T turn it to the active status.
5) The only thing that I can do is to RESET the unit. Then when I control the battery status is ALL ok: same level as before. But there isn't the missed calls of who have called me when the unit is in this state!
I think that the low temperature affects the internal battery, reducing it to zero. When the S100 is on this effect couldn't be noticed, because the external battery constantly charges the the internal one. But the charge is not provided when in standby. And so the charge in the internal battery drains... making impossible to turn on the device! But when resetting, the external battery is give power to the internal one, and the device is now fully functional as before.
According to this mess, then I only need to replace the internal battery with anything better, and the device MUST work EVEN if cold...
Now I would like to listen to others, just to convalidate this theory...
Otherwise, the device will make a good and comfortable travel to the repairing center, hoping they will send me a completely new one ( I have accidentally scrachted it one time. And another.)
Hope that you will understand my Huff-Puff post. Hope that someone will see this post.
Cheers,
MocciJ

This damn thing has taked too time, and so I'm sending the device to the centre tomorrow...
I've tried to upgrade my old qtek rom to the 1.11 of the I-mate: nothing resolved...
Is it ok to send a device with an imate rom to a qtek centre? Lemme know...
my friend has same problem, I flash radio whit 1.13, 1.12 (rom is 1.12)
I shell open it ....

As far as sending your phone back, which judging by your signature you already have, you need an official rom to be installed if you want it covered by warranty. Not sure on Qtek's policies. Have you sent it yet? What did they say about your Jam rom?
Don't try to make the same thing I did. When try to changing to ANOTHER Rom Manufacturer to see if the problem vanish, remember (at least before sending it) to PUT THE ORIGINAL ROM IN IT!
THEY (AT REPAIRING CENTER) WILL SAY THAT THE SOFT IS CORRUPTED!
This way I avoided my warranty. Hope this info will help.
I'm deciding what to make now. Do I have to pay for this prob, or do I cover my qtek with warm clothes?
Or better find a solution?
If anyone has suggestions, I'm glad to listen. I want my pda back (it stayed out for a month, I miss it!).
Do not make hazardous moves with ur pda when it's in warranty. Or U will pay that the double it's price!

Is there any way you can take it to another repair shop? If I had your problem, ie turning it in with a wrong ROM and being rejected, I would just reflash and drive to another city to have it fixed. They would never know the difference.
If that isn't an option in your country, I guess you will have to pay for the repair, even though it is very unfair, because a 'wrong' ROM can't be the cause of this problem
Thx for this suggestion. Currently I have an Qtek rom perfectly working. But they delivered my Qtek to French for repairing (and I am from Italy), guessing that I haven't that option.
The only thing that I can do to riesumate my warranty is to declare that that rom is OK, downloaded from an official site. The cause is that when the Qtek hasn't made upgraded roms, the imate did. In case, I will say that the problem was there EVEN before the upgrade (it did).
There is currently NO SOLUTION to this problem (it's an hardware problem, and should be repaired by the repairing center -of course-)
-----
I will report what the World Startel Communication (the repairing center) has said (transcribed from italian to english):
1)The product is in delivering phase.
2)The product resulted to be irreparable. It will delivered back.
3)The repairing service has resulted to be out of warranty. We are waiting the consumer to pay the reparation (They said they sent me the price. Currently they seemed to haven't sent nothing).
4)The product has come to our labs.
5)The requested reparation is inserted in our knowledge system.
And that is. The Qtek has delivered, considered irreparable, and when out of warranty is ok for repairing? That's something odd... Considering that I've retrieved how to reach the tracking service only by calling the operator... Now that the S100 is in their labs, they say that the prob is in their knowledge system, which I ignore what it means. Now I suppose that the product reached French before checking the warranty, and this would be to pay something around 10-20€, IF I decide to not repairing the unit...
Ok, that's all. Hoping that this winter isn't getting cold.
Cheers,
MocciJ
Ok, the S100 is in repairing again. They will send me repaired with a price of 50€.
Hope that they will explain me what happened. Otherwise, sending it seems to be the only solution avaible.
They will raise up my warranty, almost that's what I've heard.
So this can be the end of the topic...
Cheers,
MocciJ
They are sending it back, but non-repaired. No cost, but nor warranty at all. They SIMPLY deleted my warranty taking it for 2 months.
Now, what's the real mess with the warranty? Oh yes, the ROM was changed from Qtek to an Imate one, official. They find out that there's a mix between these 2 software, and that they CAN'T upgrade or downgrade it at well: is this possible? Incredible!
They "sincerely" said that changing ROM required a new motherboard, which cost the godness of 200+€... Exactly half the original S100 cost!
QTEK CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS! LONG TIME WAITING! NONE REGARDING OF THE CUSTOMER!
Now that my S100 is out from it's warranty, we'll return on how to resolve this TINY, LITTLE prob...
Do we have to cover our Magician with warm clothes? Just let me know your ideas...
Best Regards,
MocciJ
I bought this jasjar in Dubai and now want to upgrade the ROM, can I use the worldwide English ROM because this Arabic thing sucks.
Arabic ROM vs. English
Sure you can. Anytime the device is upgradable to any ROM. Certainly you know that the Arabic interface is just a software residing at the Ext_ROM which is always replaceble
Yes...
As cyber mate said... u can download their latest wwe ROM and install it which will do the installation without Arabic stuffs in it.
Anyway latest Arabic Rom is still not as up to date like WWE one.
Right!!
Though so, thanks for the info guys I am gonna try that in the next couple of hours and see how it pans out.
Nearly lost it
Well I started the upgrade and nearly made the jasjar into a brick.
Somehow after the cold boot it kept rebooting itself the only thing I could see was the clubimate blue screen it wouldnt go beyond that. after that I just removed the battery and sim card for a few minutes and then put everything back in. and it came back on.
The updated ROM works and has skype whereas the arabic did not have that.
I wanted to know about the warning that comes across when the battery is about to die that I will lose all data, is that true?? why would that happen wouldnt a very small charge be required to maintain the integrity of the data, so how to prevent this from happening?
Thats the Part of M$ who doesnt give a **** about Customers.. they dont have time to write new error screen for low battery...
Actually with universal you are not suppose to lose your data since they all stored under ROM instead Ram it should be find even you kept your device away without charging for days.
So dont worry about that error screen.
Bought the O2 trion from eBay (user: puremobility) - he said it was an english version. Received it today (in Australia) - its completely GERMAN!!
I cant even power it on (yes tried the power button with the USB power plugged in for the last three hours).
Can someone please post an English manual/guide/etc. (FTP?) or eMail me njay22 at hot..mail
Thanks,
njay
Why do you need a manual?
Have you tried to remove the battery for a minute and then switching it on again?
njay22, im also in Australia, let me know how you go with your device......i also bought a trion but not from ebay......i was watching the ebay item from puremobility as well but i ended up buying it from an online shop in Germany called MG&C......should be arriving here in Australia on Monday......i paid extra for changing it from German to english operating system......i'll let you know if mine is really in english as well......regarding the manual, i'm waiting for MG&C to send me the english manual once its available from them, apparently they are in the middle of creating one......
Yes there is a reason puremobilities feedback hasnt increased over the last cpl weeks and one might suspect this is why.
You dont need a manual it should power on just as it is.
Remove and reinsert the battery.
Plug into USB on computer
maybe let charge until green light comes on (That way you know its fully charged and battery is okay).
Then press and hold the power button, top button on the right side of the device, until the screen comes on.
If that doesnt work, id start working on ways to get your $$$ back.
its working
After removing the battery and hard resetting and then charging it overnight its working.
I would still really appreciate the English manual. Anyone? Even Dopod's or HTC's will do. Am I missing s/w too (as I can’t read the German language CD included). I want to know the intricacies of this device.
Even though I received it y'day, its serial # is HT626 - is that bad?
Basically, puremobility put in the Dopod ROM (1.23.707.1?); my problem is that he never mentions this in his auction - if he had, then I would have been empowered to make the decision and not feel ripped off; contemplating giving him negative feedback
No the serial number theory pretty much went out the window. It seems plain and simple earlier models were most prone to poor QA, but now the newer models can have some of the faults but it isnt as frequent.
manual anyone
so is there anyone that can send me an english manual? I am really struggling with the phone (not everyone is as tech savvy as the majority of the people here).
thanks in advance.

I would assist:
Would be great to have an English (better also a German PDF manual for the TyTN uploaded to the ftp.
The PDF manual does exist (look at the FCC site) - but it is still under NDA, which I don't understand by now, as the device is in the market already.
Why don't you just install the english ROM. I don't think you really need the manual for this. most things are pretty self explanatory and if you have any questions just ask it in this forum or Howard Forums:
http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=181
If you just need to get started.. download activesync 4.1 or (4.2?), just google it.. install it, and hook up ur TyTN to your comp when it's done installing. You should be able to get started from there.
Instead of initially chanrging via the usB lead, it might be an idea to use the mains charger.. just a thought

You can download the user manual (for the dutch release, but the text is in english) here:

YEAH!! Thanks Stefan you are a legend
So many things to learn - e.g what data/settings do I loose if I remove the battery
Good bed time reading ...

Hey dudes,
I know this has probably been adressed a million times in other threads but I’m boggled by everything. I know nothing much about flashing and need some kind soul to take me under their wing and explain very basically how you go about flashing an HTC that only give you the white screen of death when you try and turn it on.
Here’s a description of whats gone wrong:
I have a HTC P4350. After installing a program too many from the internet it stopped turning on. Every time I try and turn it on I get the white screen of death and then nothing else. I now have a useless brick instead of a much needed device that allows me to translate the crazy world of Russian language on the move.
As I bought it in France but am now living in Russia, I can't get it prepared so think I need to flash it. I e-mailed Cordon Electronics in France, who apparently are responsible for repair of these devices, and they told me it’s only possible to do anything in their repair shops in France. That is surely bollocks and I can’t wait the weeks that that would take.
Questions:
- Where can I get a rom that fits my device? I see mention of WMs and RUUs without knowing whatthat really means. All I can say is that it is an HTC p4350 that I bought in France in May from FNAC.
- How exactly do I use a ROM to flash my knackered device? Do I need a special cable or software?
- Is it possible to use an English ROM in my French device or do I HAVE to get a French ROM? (I'd prefer an English ROM)
-I'm desperately struggling without my device so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Paul
Well if it is just a software issue you might be able to Hard Reset the device. Basically this reformats the device and reloads the current ROM on your phone. You will loose all data on the device though. Any route you go at this point you will probably have to deal with data loss. Instructions for a hard reset are in the Wiki.
It worked! Cheers dude!
You beauty!
I just followed you instructions and that worked fine. I didn't realise it could be so easy. There was a tough moment when I didn't know what "soft buttons" meant but I battled through and made it through the three lines of instructions .
You can pat yourself on the back for doing your good Samaritan job of the day and helping out a helpless newbie. You have no idea how hard it was trying to explain the word verruca to a Russian pharmacist without the Russian dictionary I have on my HTC.
Thanks a lot,
Paul
So yes , when the battery is like 50 or something similar (or 44) some times (some times !) when i get a call (and i use my phone for bussines so this is kind of disturbing...) when call is recived phone reboots , or stays in a state in which the screen goes dark , vibrate is on (its enabled for call along with ringtone) and nothing only reset helps (using stylus)
I had official rom 6.0 (sucks but im sure everyone knows that fact) Yevg001 WM6.1 same crap , i really dont know whats wrong , but its like that since i bought it i suppose i just charge to full when i leave home and not worry, but there are days when i need to make and recive lots of calls from customers etc , and as the phone reboots there isnt any record what was the last call
Any one had this ? any suggestions , hell i'll even change rom if some one solved it that way , but i did that from 6.0 > 6.1 same
All help appreciated
i heard it is a defective battery circuit issue, i suggest you contact hp for exchange
Okay , but i've bought it in poland (well online) but i've got the recit, so this must be sent to HP,how much time can it take (i know they will give me some Toshiba G910 as replace for few days but...i would like to know some estimate from experience of any one who returned it to RMA
Thanks for the info i was wondering what is going on with my phone
My experience with hp guarantee service is excellent, they replaced my 614c bricked unit in only one week, with their pick and return service. they work with UPS saver service.
They ask me to send just the device (without battery, sd card, stylus and battery cover). Then all was as they told me it shoud be. In your case i dont know how it will be, as it is a battery issue the warranty procedures could be different.
