Activating Flash in Cool Camera on Wizard - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Afternoon All,
I have cool camera 1.14 installed on my mini-s, and all is fine.
However, I can't get the flash to work - or work out how to activate it.
I can go to the photo menu and select flashlight>on - but nothing happens?
Anyone got their flash to work with Cool Camera? Any ideas :?:
Cheers,
Paul

I don't think they have the flash working yet - shame though excellent software otherwise, I can get 20fps at 320x176 video recording and photo quality better than original camera software - I use the same version as you.

Yup, I can confirm with meschle, that flash doesn't work yet on the 1.14 beta 2.
But, it doesn't matter, Cool Camera is still the best, loads faster to, and night mode is great. My TyTn is coming in the mail. Can't wait to test the new camera software it has

Can someone help me to get coolcamera to take good pics? Cause I had it installed on my phone last week and tried to use it during a party, but the photos were just as bad and dark as the original software.

The best i can get is 13fps on 320x240 at 65% quality recording on the phone mem. On the card it drops to 3-4fps i suppose it is the card`s fault. Anyway how do you get 20 fps??? At lower quality or what?

Use 320x176 video size - i have my device overclocked to 252 Omap speed when using video recording - quality as set by default.

o i found it...i have to change format to 16:9 for 320x176...it is convenient becouse you dont loose much from the pic. size.thanks!

Camera horrible =(

how come the camera on the XDA is horrible, its grainy and dark... i tried adjusting the settings but then after i closed and reopened the camera quality was back to being bad again. is there a fix for this or is that how the camera is.
I mainly use the night mode indoors and save the auto mode for outside. Make sure you work out the settings with your computer; the best pictures on the PDA aren't always the best on the computer and vice-versa.
Oh yeah, I don't think you can make most of the settings stick other than the auto/daylight/dark etc. mode.
I have another problem with my camera...
When i take a shot, the image displayed in the viewfinder before capturing, is perfectly lit with the right brightness-contrast etc.
But when i capture an image, it brightens it up until the image bleeds, and its terrible....I tried to adjust different settings, but it still did the same.
Its good for night shots, but during day time, i get 80% of my pixels completely white!
Not too bothered, as the camera is actually pointless for me....and besides, i'm not the "take pictures often" kinda guy!
San
read my camera tweak topic.
try CoolCamera

i found turning off 3g, and using gsm has helped a lot with all aspects of my phone. the camera looks a LOT better compared to a week ago when it was on 3g. back then, i thought it was completely unusable..thats how bad the quality was. and i had tried night time mode indoors, and it all jjust came out blurred
where's the camera tweak post? i'm starting not to like this phone, there is way to many tweaks and changes that have to be done to it just to make it an 'ok' usable phone.

What ROM version are you using? We are all referring to the latest I-Mate and QTEK ROM. You might be using the old version of O2 which does not have those pixel dots.

In these days i'm using camera and i have this problem, is there a solution???
If anyone is still there I havve a problem. When I tried to update it. i think it failed and got stuck on the serial v1.00 botloader. Luckily I found a way to fix that. May one of you please supply the 1.30.79 WWE QTEK-TMobile rom please I cannot find it. Also I ahve a 4gb that's not working with my device. Could it be possible that my rom is to old and the update for 4gb cards haven't been set in place fo r that rom? This the only time I've heard of a 4g card not working. Please help. I think its a 2005 rom

I have had this problem before. You have to take out the MicroSD card and re-insert it then do a soft reset then all is good.
Same problem here!!
I've got the same problem. It seems to black out when I take photos in bright daylight or bright lights. Could be an software problem related to the metering / exposure. Taking out the MicroSD card doesn't help.

you have to choose "fine" and not "super fine " in the camera parameters

Well I did have a very ocassional problem with superfine setting and the old black picture problem. This thankfully is not a routine problem and I think it just happens if device gets short on memory. Since I moved virtually everything onto sd card and got an application to truly shut down running programmes it's never done it since - as I say it was only a sporadic problem anyway.

I have 27MB of free program memory fresh after a reset so I don't think that's quite a problem. Got a SanDisk Ultra II 2GB MicroSD card too. I've tried the Fine setting and it seems to work so far but I'm pretty annoyed I can't use SuperFine!
Go for the best!

Interesting, at the moment all I can say for sure is I had the problem and now it's gone, I had assumed a memory issue. Not necessarily amount of programme memory but perhaps cache size/fault.
Does yours not work on superfine when set to save to On-board, SD card or both?

Tested both, even the Extended ROM with no success. I've also increased the WM5 cache to 4MB so I'm pretty sure that isn't the problem either. Not to mention 41MB free Storage memory since everything's on the MicroSD card.
Anyone else experienced this problem?

Some folks at modaco with same problem. No sign of a standard solution though except one person found a hard reset and selective re-installing of progs. worked for him:

It feels more like a driver issue to me, or something similar. I installed CoolCamera 1.5b beta, when the normal capera ap takes black pics, I switch to CoolCamera, ake a pic, then switch back to the regular camera, and it seems to work ok again. Very weird I think.
I replied to a similar thread on thursday night saying that I had seen this problem once my TyTN had come back from repair. but then hadn't seen it for many weeks. Sure enough Friday morning, I was taking blank pictures again.
I also noticed that the camera application seems to crash when this happens. It no longer appears in the Running Programs list to shut down and when you hit the camera button it says cannot start camera application - application already in use or something. A soft reset fixed it....
At the moment I am unable to tell if this is a hardware or software issue... because it seems that if I open the keyboard.. then shut it "firmly" (i only did this out of frustration really) but the app started working again properly.
I don't think it's got anything to do with the settings (super-fine - fine etc.) I could take blank pictures an virtually all the settings.

Camera Problems!

Hi all,
I have had HTC phones right from the XDA (1) and i've had all the different range. I must say that either i'm a slow learner or just a little stupid. I can't honestly think of why I always go for this line of phones. even to the point of having 4 different tele numbers in the last 6 years just to keep up (swapping between O2 and Orange more than a few times).
.....well, still have not learnt my lesson!
I had my M3100 the day it was released. even drove a 2 hour round trip to (parcel-line depot) to get it.
After playing with my new toy I found that the camera can cause a few problems with the phone. on all occasions I get one of three happenings (in equal measure)
1: the camera function takes the image and displays the image (as is normal)
2: the camera takes an image of nothing, complete blank (no i'm not blocking the the lens)
3: the camera takes the image and them closes the program rendering the camera useless.
I've done all the usual - resetting and hard reset. nothing helps and the phone has done this from new.
Orange have already sent a new one out - I get it tomorrow! I would like to know if this is a one off?
Why am i stupid - well because maybe i'm unlucky, but i have never had an HTC phone that has not needed to be returned at least twice!!!
It maybe because I get them as soon as they come out, or just, as i said, just plain bad luck.
still I've got another 25 days where Orange will replace with new.
will I need it?
Let me know if anyone eles has problems with their M3100 camera?
Widhill :?:
Hi
As you can see in my previous message i have same issues with camera.........I dont know what to do
Camera Problem M3100
I also have the problem of taking images that are blank. The problem appears to occur less often at lower resolutions.
Is it a hardware or software problem?
The problem with blank/black pics can sometimes be resolved by removing the micros sd card, putting it back in and soft reset. It worked for me.
Good Luck
I had the same camera problems you have been experiencing (camera app crashing -> unusuable until next reboot) or taking blank pictures after a few successfull ones. I traced the problem to the Super Fine quality setting, having changed it into Fine I have not had a single problem with the camera application. Seems like there is a memory buffer overflow problem or something like that when using the Super Fine setting.
Anyway, I have not noticed any quality problems with the Fine setting compared to Super Fine, so this should solve the problem you have.

Thanks for that nAmCE. Just looked at my default settings on my varioII. It was set to 'Fine' and worked with no probs. Adjusted it to 'Superfine' and it resulted in blank picture, so have re-adjusted to 'Fine' and all's back to normal. Well done for finding that one out.
Thanks 4 the feedback. I was using 'superfine' setting. I've now changed to 'fine' and no problems so far.
Thanks again.
Thanks for help - now I feel a little bit guilty over the 2 other phones replaced by orange (must say excellent service when reporting a faulty phone, next day delivery of brand new phone with a new 28 day replacement warranty)
Still I guess Orange should test the system better as even the latest phone still does it. However, going into fine mode is ....fine!
Thanks once again!

TG01 toshiba mobile 6.5 rom update refresh- call quality

i have moved on to touch hd but interested to see if new 6.5 toshiba build has actually fixed call quality issues.
so please leave a comment gripe
Without a doubt, call quality issues are now gone completely
Hi all,
Well I've waited a while before commenting but i must say i am very happy with my TG01 and this new build as it has fixed the one issue i had with my TG01 call quality. It may not have come as fast as many of us would of liked but at least it did come shame they haven't really promoted it either Orange or Toshiba. I was quite close to replacing my TG01 with a HD2 but now feel that would be a total waste and am happy to stick with my TG01. I'm not sure what else has changed besides the Radio but it does seem smoother and faster throughout and I'm a happy TG01 owner.

hello 02 & the call quality coming thru the speakers is like a PA system in comparison
i actually had to turn the volume DOWN... 1st time ever
nice
Now it sounds like a real phone. I hope Toshiba will up a German Rom. but UK version works really nice
after the fix, audio quality it's fine, also trough bluetotth headphone, wich finally work in the right way!
Internal GPs works like before (tested with iGo8 and Navigon 7.4.0 build 962) without any splitter, and with external bluetooth gps gns 5870 + tmc.
Still have some compatibility problems with device.exe (but disabling WM error report, everything it's ok).

RESOLVED : Problem with autofocus in standby mode

Hi,
For two days, I have the autofocus of the camera that works all the time in standby mode only This is "click" at regular intervals
Including when I reboot, I hear just before you see the first screen of boot ...
By cons, as soon as I leave the standby mode before, no problem except that the camera is no longer the point, the autofocus does not work ...
And really weird is that this "click" I think varies according to the occupation of the CPU because if I leave an application running and I goes to sleep, I do not hear it!
I made a task29, wipe all over the place, install new rom, and also an original rom ... Even removing the phone to see if something was not disconnected but I have not found.
Do you have an idea how to cope ?
Or maybe a way to reset the memory lowest level because I think it is software, not hardware (well I think).
Thank you to those who can give me help.
Regards.

Always the same problem with a fresh install of sense 3 with last kernel of Rafpigna...
no one has ever had this problem of noise camera in standby mode or to boot the phone?
Is it possible that this is a hardware problem?
What is really strange is that as soon as I get out of standby mode, the noise stops! And when I want to take a picture, the autofocus does not work ...
Task29 can't help me... Always the same issue... I tried WM7 I know it's sad but it does not change (I did not expect less).
No one can help me ??
...saw a post of a xda member with the same issue on the typhoon some months ago.
He made a video:

..do youve got the same issue?
will it also autofocus all time when you dont got a rom installed?
Hi j4n87,
This is exactly the same problem, I can see the lens moving like that...
this is just since a week. it worked fine before !
This is after installing a version MIUI (when I had already installed several versions before without problems).
I try everything but I can not recover the normal operation of the camera.
Can you help me more ??
Thank you.
Regards.

I found that if I put in airplane mode, so no use of radio, there is no noise of the autofocus ...
I will try to degraded version of the radio to see if it changes something.
Alas no, it does not change, still the noise of the camera.
RESOLVED...
yay it works thanks to Dimension2035 (thank you very much for his invaluable help).
This is what to do:
- To MAGLDR
- Download the version of tytung
- Make the phone operational by using a little (there is always noise)
- Remove the battery overnight: miracle, everything works.
I'm really happy.
Here is the solution.
Regards and again thanks to Dimension2035
