Best settings for 8125 connections? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi all,
Can someone tell me what the best settings are for my 8125's connection settings?
I just bought this phone & I'm confused as to all the terms listed under connection settings.
I have listed: My ISP, My MediaNet
and I also have auto-pick selected over CSD Cingular +14152441012 or Cingular GPRS wap.cingular.
For networks, I have Medianet 1st then My Work.
can someone help me figure out all the settings? I am searching here, and I'm a bit confused (obviously).
thanks in advance.
Jeff
Thanks a ton!

If you add these setting in by going to start, settings, connections, connections, advanced, select networks, Edit MEdia Net, Click on Cingular GPRS and then click edit. Keep clicking next through the settings until you see the advanced buttton. Click the advanced button and click on the servers tabs. For the DNS enter this 208.67.222.222 and for the ADNS enter 208.67.220.220

T-Mobile USA GPRS Settings w/ XDA Exec...?

Can anyone help me w/ the tmobile usa gprs email server, IM and web server settings?
I already have a data only plan, but don't know the server settings...and tech support is ZERO help...
Thanks...

Hey folks...
I'm about to purchase an XDA Exec. I've seen most of my questions answered in various places on the net including this one.
The ONLY question I haven't seen addressed directly is the following:
I have a tmobile account which pushes my email to my phone. I understand that I insert my sim into the XDA Exec, but do I have to input any settings to grab my email from tmobile's servers so that it "lands" in my XDA?
Thanks in advance. I didnt see anything specific about this...

Yes you do. O2 sets up Exec to work with O2... so you need to get your settings for t-mobile to make email work.

Those were other comments that I commented out...
Thanks for the 411 and I appreciate the assistance as I am a novice at this.
1) Assuming I fresh and empty XDA and assuming that I start w/ the start button, where exactly do I apply these settings?
2) Are these also the settings for web surfing via gprs?
Thanks
1) Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Manage existing connections/add connection (in the top part) > select modem Cellular Line (GPRS,3G) > enter APN > Finish
2) yes

This is EXACTLY what I have done.
I then start pocket IE and get the following message:
"The current connection cannot be used for your request. Please end the current connection and try again."
Are you on the phone while you are trying to connect to GPRS? If you are this is why you are getting this message. I have no issues with my JasJar and GPRS. I am using the O2 rom which is much better than the Imate. I suggest hard booting your device, and not using any of the O2 garbage. Unlock the extended rom and just run the bluetooth patch and dialer cab. Then re install any apps you want. Have fun!

proxy config APP ?

Anybody know some application that can configure proxy (use ou not) in each connection?
I use proxy for GSM data connection to work remotly (work network), but when connect by WiFi or GPRS I don't use proxy and have to enter configuration connections to disable...
Can I assign proxy settings to each connection?
Thanks
i had the same problem as well, do a search for proxy and you'll find it, also go to start>help and search proxy and it will tell you there.

But, do you know any software that can do it???
I know configure proxy any time but i want an app that can do it for me (in each connection)!
Thanks
Change which network each connection uses (ie work, internet - make more of your own) then each one can have different proxy settings.

Ok, this thread is a little old, but it is close to what I am looking at.
I just got my bill from O2 and I have been charged £1.50 for "GPRS data" although I think it is actually MMS messages being sent or received by GPRS. I am guessing this is because it is set up incorrectly by me.
I did have it set to collect MMS over the "mobile.o2.co.uk" settings (as opposed to the "wap.o2.co.uk" settings) and wifi could be enabled, but if I tried to use the browser without enabling wifi it automatically dialled the GPRS connection.
Could someone give me an idea on how to set it so that
A) MMS messages only count as MMS messages and are sent and received by GPRS.
B) WiFi is the preferred connection for everything else.
C) GPRS is available if WiFi is not available (and preferably after getting confirmation from the user), ie I dont have to find the settings and re-enter them.
I realise this is probably not possible, but any help and/or pointers are appreciated.

internet on the PPC at work and home

Hi,
I have a o2 xda neo.
I've been trying to get internet working at both home and work through different settings. After lots of problems, i've done a hard reset and will try again.
Perhaps you can help with the correct settings, as I do not understand this whole Activesync 'the internet' / 'My Work' etc network settings.
I have my neo sync'd to my work pc. Fine. And when I use 'work' on the connection setting, then the internet is also fine on my PPC. HOWEVER, it updates my 'my work' settings on the PPC with my works proxy server ip etc.
OK, i understand that makes it work ok....
But my problem comes next. I want to set my o2 GPRS settings up. And they should go under 'my work' and I need to enter the o2 server IP in there.
But I can't because my work settings are there!!?!?!
So, I have to chose, do i want to use only work settings or only gprs settings...
How can I have both?
- when at work, it has internet fine.
- and on the move, i can use GPRS fine?
A million thanks in advance!

maybe i'm to simple, but i only use Internet settings and don't use @work @all.
And it works fine everywhere, @home, @work, via GPRS and via WiFi. Have you tried this?
and why would you put your gprs setting under Work?
Extremely sorry no one has replied to your post with a solution yet, I maybe too late but I only joined this forum yesterday.
You want multiple Network settings with independent Proxy settings and IP, DNS etc right??
Go to Start>Settings>Connections>Tap connections >go to the "Advanced" Tab. Tap "Select Networks" Here you are given 2 Choices of Network settings you can use. Work Network and Internet (or ISP). You have your work settings saved on Work network so do not edit that. choose the other one and edit it to enter all your GPRS settings. and save as your gprs connection. Now if you want to add a third independent setting, from the select Networks tab, click on new and you can create a third Set of connection settings (for your home maybe). Your PPC can handle 2 simultaneous connection settings perfectly, ex. 1 for Pass through and 2 for GPRS. But each time you want to connect to a third or different setting, you just go to the "Advanced Tab"> select Networks> tap the pull down options menu and select the other connection set that you would like to use et voila it is that simple.

Cingular USA Settings for the Trinity

I've now had my Trinity for a week and I love it. The GPS and TOM TOM are great. I bought a car mount from Mobile Planet (Expansys) and it works better than the Magellan I was using. The phone functions work generally well, although not as crisp as my Cingular 8525.
I set up the MediaNet connections manually using the settings from the AT&T web-site, and it seems to work well.
There are cab files for all of the Cingular settings that are posted on the XDA Hermes/TyTn list, but I'm not sure if there are any settings in that cab that will improve my Trinity's connectivity. I'm also concerened that I may in some way disable the Trinity with this cab file.
Any Comments?
Ron
I'm in the market for my 2nd Trinity. Where did you get it and what did you pay? Some resellers still have old stock with the old ROM.
As far as your settings go, I saw little or no difference with the cingular settings in my area. There are a couple of options you have including DNS servers and access point. I've had good luck with the folowing:
cellular line GPRS
access point - wap.cingular
user name [email protected]
pw CINGULAR1
no domain
Advanced server settings
DNS 208.67.222.222
ALT 208.67.220.220
Others may have a different experience. I never installed the cab.

I got my Trinity from Phone Source USA for 593 shipped. Here goes a link to their ebay auction.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-new-HTC-P...ryZ64355QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Results from quick experiment: San Francisco, USA
HTC Trinity (Latest LVSW.1.0.0.7 rom & Radio.1.41.00.11)
The Cing cabs (from this Forum) used to make settings put adv server config numbers in. Everything else is exactly same as manual setup with auto or configured servers.
Advanced server settings
DNS 208.67.222.222
ALT 208.67.220.220
Phone Band network type set: Auto
GSM/UMTS set: GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
Method: Connections, Advanced, Selected Network, MEdia Net settings or WAP (no proxy) settings, IE defaulted to Windows Live, clicked on url to DSL Reports-Speed Test, 600K used for every test, resulting kbits/sec, re-entered DSL Reports url each test. Between different network settings runs, made change, & soft reset. 2 separate run sets for both network configs & auto/non-auto adv server setup. All numbers kbits/sec.
MEdia Net-AUTO: 804, 889. Avg=847
MEdia Net-Adv settings: 880, 857. Avg=869
WAP-no proxy-AUTO: 634, 618. Avg=626
WAP-no proxy-Adv settings: 632, 705. Avg=669
(For accuracy, each number of the first 2 pairs presented are also averages of 3 separate runs each, with lowest value dropped & 2 used for avg of that run.)
Either method shows MEdia Net as mycingular.net or WAP-non-proxy as myvzw.com, but different ip addresses, for these runs.
Looks like NO STATISTICAL DIFFERENCES in overall results as to the use of Advanced dedicated dns settings.
Also, using the Cingular apps, i.e., MobiTV, Media Net Video, Streaming Video or Music, or other (non-Cingular) Internet Streaming Video & Audio sites, AUTO server-assigned settings worked almost always.
When switching to Adv dedicated settings instead, sometimes a change to AUTO-server assigned would be necessary to get the Video or Audio to run correctly.
Similar results obtained with HTC Tytn.
The only diff I saw with DNS is the time it takes to locate and open web pages. Much faster with the DNS settings I listed above for all of my devices. It has been a year or so since I have changed anything. Results may not be the same now.
How did you put in these settings? I went to Settings --> Connections --> GPRS Setting, but it only has 2 radio buttons: "PAP authentication" and "CHAP authentication".

Create a new connection with those settings.
I am using the .cab 'Cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2' on my Trinity and I am always getting nice 3G speeds (Since I am in UMTS or HSDPA areas 95% of my day).
If I go to Settings --> Connections --> Tasks, I only see
"Add a new model connection"
"Add a new VPN server connection"
....
I have tried all of those options, but don't see to be able to create a connection described by you. Can you help? Thanks.

For GPRS, choose CHAP. Then return to Connections, to continue dialog.
Go to Settings/Connections/Connections:
There you should see: 2 main Headings: Media Net & My Work Network
Also, you have the Advanced tab at bottom, Click on that:
Click on Select networks
Choose on top dialog, My Isp for setting up Data connection OR media Net for setting up proxy connection.
OR, an easy way is:
The file commented on in previous post by maevro, is the easiest way. Do a search on forum, you'll find it easily. Install the cab. Search for cab: Cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2
Just create a new modem connection.
Thank you guys, I appreciate it. I am able to get it to work now. How come mine says I connect to EDGE, but not 3G? Again, thank you.
Wow, why go through all of this? Download this .cab and run it & it will set up all the AT&T/Cingular settings...I have said this a while back in this thread....

mini opera on EDGE

how do you get mini opera to work on edge? i have that work on mu old sony k850i but i can't get it work on x1.
can someone help?
can someone advise?
What network provider you're subscribed to?
network provider: Tmobile USA
i just downloaded opera mini and i got it to work. i'm on tmobile usa as well. have you checked your connection settings?
how do i check my connection setting? this is my 1st wm device.
thank you
there are 2 things i can think of that would help. first check your network settings. if they aren't configured:
start> settings> connections tab> connections> advanced tab> select networks> edit
in the modem tab, click edit again and change your access point name to epc.tmobile.com and leave user, pass, and domain blank.
next go under the proxy settings and put a check in the 'this connects to the internet' box and leave 'this network uses a proxy...' box blank.
if this still doesn't work
start> programs> java> menu> network parameters
and select the connection you just set up from the drop-down box.
hope this helps
oh almost forgot... your device may need a soft reset after you configure your new connection

which network should select and edit?
i have:
t mobile mms
t mobile data
my work network
my ISP
what i've done was create one named 't-zones' since that's how it was on my n95. i have tzones selected in both boxes under the advance tab.
thank you thank you. it works!
thanks a lot!
not a problem. i aim to please... and to become more than just a junior member lol. do you have picture message problems where you only receive super tiny pictures? i did. you may want to fix that
do you set up gmail to your phone?
yup i sure do. needing help?
well.. my place doesn;t really have 3G network so i use t zone to push my gmail on my old k850i.
how do i do that on this one without turn on the wifi?
well, if you already have your gmail setup on your mobile:
start> messaging> menu> tools> options
click on your gmail account and then 'edit account setup' and click next 4 times until you come to a screen that says 'outgoing (smtp) mail server' and then click 'advanced server settings at the bottom. and then just select the connection you set up earlier
one more q. do you sign up data plan?
i only have the cheap t-zones addon. it was like 5.99 a month at the time... and i live in chattanooga so i couldn't use 3g even if i could afford it. atleast i have edge though
hahha same here. i only have cheap t zone.
so.. do you get to receive hotmail when the wifi is off?
i don't use hotmail but i suppose if it's like gmail then it should work
