All,
Immiersoft has updated the popular XCPUScalar application to v3.0 2007. Looks like OMAP support including auto-scaling is supported. I just upgraded to the latest version and installed on my K-JAM. Works great, including autoscaling!

Autorecovery from soft lockups when using unstable speeds
XCPUScalar will now auto detect a soft lockup if speed was unstable and will automatically revert to your PDA's default speed after a soft reset.
Support from 100 to 728MHz and PXA270 processor support:
XCPUScalar now has support for all popular frequencies from 100 to 728MHz. PXA250 XScale processors can be scaled upto 500MHz and PXA255, PXA261, PXA262 or PXA263 XScale processors upto 530MHz at 265MHz bus speed and PXA270 processors upto 728MHz.

Support for higher bus speeds:
Bus speeds upto 265MHz are supported.
Auto Scale with CPU load:
Power on demand, XCPUScalar will now automatically calculate the CPU load on your PocketPC and switch speeds automatically depending on whether an application requires less or more power. XCPUScalar will scale the speeds automatically and throttle speeds as applications demand power. XCPUScalar throttles down to idle speed when there is no activity giving you the maximum battery power consumption. You can assign your own speeds to different CPU loads as you desire.
XCPUScalar calculates all factors and normalizations automatically and takes the guess work out of using auto scaling.
CPU Meter and WisBar / ICBar / GigaBar or other TaskBar Manager Integration:
XCPUScalar will now install an animated CPU meter icon on your TaskBar (this is the blue title bar area), you can monitor the CPU load and speed when running any application. CPU Meter detects other taskbar managers and will install its icon in their taskbar area.
Health Meters:
At a glance look at all the vital signs of your Pocket PC at a click of a button for quick access.
Thats pretty darn sweet looking - not sure if its worth 20 bucks - because omapscaler is free but I really like the feature set. Time for a demo

PDA France dug up some details about the HTC Galaxy, a new GPS-enabled Pocket PC from HTC (their first, in fact) that looks to be about the same size as the HTC Magician and that runs Windows Mobile 5.0 and has a 300MHz processor, 64MB of Flash ROM, 32MB of RAM, a 2.8-inch, 320 x 240 pixel LCD screen, Bluetooth, WiFi, and an SDIO expansion card slot. Odd to see HTC pumping out something which isn’t also a cellphone, but they’ve probably figured out from their Taiwanese brothers-in-ODM that there’s actually some decent money in dedicated GPS handhelds. Won’t be out until around the end of year.
Again, for the 100000st time: It might be possible to load WM5 onto the Magician, but this can be done ONLY by HTC and MS. And they won't do it EVER!! Why? Have a look:

I'm Considering a Wizard as a replacement for a Blue Angel but reading the specs I see it only has a 200Mhz CPU, although I did read somewhere that it was a Dual core CPU..Is this correct or was it a typo on the web page?
Anyway I just wondered if anyone on here who has owned both could comment on the relative performance of the Wizard against the Blue Angel with it's 400Mhz CPU.
One of my main uses is TomTom5 and although my Blue Angel handles it fine at 400Mhz I also have an ageing Toshiba E330 Pocket PC (300Mhz CPU) that really struggles with TomTom5.
Anyone using a Wizard with TomTom5 like to comment on how it performs?
You will find that the K-Jam is a bit slower in opening applications than the Blue Angel. However, once they open they generally work fine. I run a number of processor heavy apps from time to time, including Tom Tom with no problems. (BTW, Tom Tom is not installable using the set up CD's directly but you can use the cab files on them. Search the site here for how.)

I've had the Wizard for about 2 weeks now and i can say i'm fairly pleased with CPU, everything runs fine but i've heard there is a tool to raise the speed of the CPU in this phone. does anyone have information regarding this tool ?
Hi Everyone!
I'm new to mobile windows, I've recently bought a T-Mobile MDA Vario and discoveredthet I can't run SkyPe because of the processor speed...
So I've come across with OMAPCLOCK V2.0
I'vce installed it, and changed the speed to 216 Mhz
but when I check under hardware in device information the value doesn't go over 195 Mhz..?????
Is OMAPCLOCK not working? or the speed is not shown correctly in the hardware monitor?
Thanks for your help
Fab
Works for me just fine.
Don't worry, if you ran OC properly, then you are running at that speed. I am running at 240mhz and my hardware panel shows 195mhz. Using SKTools system information reports 260mhz!
OK, very good thanks!
I thought so....
cheers
Fab
Since HTC promissed an update to turn on the aGPS functionallity in the Trinity, and it's basically the same phone (or at least chipset) as the Hermes (please correct me if I'm wrong), any chance we may be getting a similar firm-ware update?

If no one has said about it, then probably not. No, i doubt that there is a GPS chipset that can be enabled in the hermit.
i-mate SP JAM communicator , early info [ 07-12-2006 07:18 ]
In the Internet emerged the info on new model by i-mate SP JAM communicator.
Under the preliminary info, i-mate SP JAM is equipped with a hybrid keyboard (digital and QWERTY). I’d note larger flash ROM size and GPS-functionality. The specs known at the moment:

* CPU - Freescale i.MX21 350 MHz or i.MX31 535 MHz

Everything looks photoshopped these days
Hi, any updated information about this? since Hermes use the same Qualcomm chipset as Trinity, will HTC enable the AGPS function?
This would be such fortuitous serendipity, that I am not even entertaining any hope. Built in GPS on the Hermes would certainly sit it atop the pile. The only other QWERTY phone with GPS is the e-ten M700 I think, and it has no wheel.
I everybody
Somebody has already used XCPUScalar with the tytn ?
If it's yes could you give the best speed ?
Thx in advance
xcpuscalar works for pxa processors, hermes uses a samsung processor, so it doesn't work.
thx pof I suppose it's the same answer for trinity devices....
you can use only Pocket Hack Master - http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=7258 , but only for underclocking device, to lower frequencies, you should have more battery life, but slower application. When I played with this settings I must HR my device, because he become crazy. you can overclock device only to few MHz, but you should have stability problems.
thank's for your advice sinmae
