Have been searching but couldn't find an answer that worked for me.
I want to use Skype on my 8525, it'd be nice if I could use my headset but that's not required. I usually get EDGE sometimes 3G and haven't the clue how to properly set-up WiFi. With both EDGE and 3G it gets to the point where I can call somebody and then when it connects it says Connect to ____ 00:01 seconds, and then shuts down the program. Any help is much appreciated
When I said Connect To ______: 00:01 I meant Connected To < CONTACT NAME > for 1 second. It did the same thing with the voice test for skype. Called, then shut down as soon as it picked up.
On my TyTN, the wifi connection is closed after 30s. I'm guessing it is the VPN (which I need) that isn't kept alive somehow.
Perhaps your dataconnection is too slow for Skype?
Jörg
Possibly, but I thought 3G would be good enough to run Skype as I've heard success stories
Works for me
I just installed it last night and made a couple of test connects to my son in the other room. I was able to connect with wifi and GPRS. GPRS was better quality than wifi, but they both worked. Echo cancellation helped audio quality. This was using the beta version of WMskype.
It worked on GPRS? As in EDGE? Woah... did you take any extra steps to set it up? I'd really like to get mine working.
Skype works on 3G. It DOES NOT work on EDGE or GPRS.
If you want Skype to work with both 3G and WiFi, you probably need to have a data plan that does not require the use of a proxy server.
I use the PDA Unlimited Data plan, and with 3G it still shuts down the program when I get into a call, what can be wrong?
I got it working.
Solution:
Remove DNS Proxies ( if using DNS fix )
Un-install Skype
Download Skype Windows Mobile For HTC
Install on Mobile Device
Run when you have 3G, it didn't drop for me.
I am so happy
My final question, how can I configure my Voyager Bluetooth Headset to work with Skype?
Thanks for the replies.

I use skype with EDGE a lot. The quality isn't pristine, but it's quite usable
@UnrealTechno:
Just tested Skype on EDGE, it actually works, suprisingly. Not reliable, meaning it dropped a couple of times, and lagged the calls, but it was actually usable.
EDGE can be shady, its coverage is probably just low for those who are getting dropped calls. i haven't actually had a dropped call yet, though latency isn't great
I too have used Skype quite well on EDGE. Quality isnt as good as WIFI, but it is acceptable.

Sorry friend, skype works on GPRS also. My carrier does not have 3G and Edge only GPRS and I've called my sister in Edinbourgh through skype (spoke for about 13-15 min). Not the best quality but it works, at least for me.
Cheers

I am new at working with the 8525 but was successful in flashing the vp3G's ROM. I'd like to get Skype working but I see it says it's not supported on their web site. I'm excited to get Skype working but I not sure how to remove the DNS Proxy entries. When I look at my Media Net Settings, I click on Proxy Settings and it is blank for the proxy server text box. However, I suspect this may *not* be the DNS proxy entry being discussed. Thanks for your help.

Only if you call actual phone numbers (you need skype credit for that).

Mike, that version has been replaced with the 2.2.0.30 version.
Do you know where the 2.1 version or below can be had? Apparently it is the only stable version on the 8525 (I cannot get the one you posted on this link to function through a call, though it loads and runs fine right as long as I don't call anyone).
Thanks!

AT&T Internet Sharing / Tethering
I used to be able to connect my PC to the internet using the Internet Sharing application on my AT&T Tilt/HTC Kaiser using the Blackberry internet connection. Recently however, I am unable to conenct to the internet on my laptop using the BBC connection. Regardelss of the BBC version, the Internet Sharing app version, the radio or the rom version.
Is there anybody here on XDA that has played around with ICS, or internet sharing, maybe the creator of one of these apps, that can help me figure this out?
I am willing to donate or whatever. The last time I could get it to work was on an older Dutty 6.1 rom with the bbc 4.0.0.84 version.
I decided to upgrade my phone with the newest DCD 3.2.6 and the new 3.42.50 radio and the aGPS fix and all is wonderful until I tried to tether with PDANet.
Each time I try now I get the Verizon provisioning page asking me to sign up for the Broadband Connect for tethering with the 5GB limit. I used to be able to just PDANet and go. Is there some setting that I have missed or did any of the above upgrades mess up my tethering? Any ideas or any suggestions?
KeithGP
I'm using a slightly older ROM, but I stopped using PDANet after I upgraded and started using Internet Connection Sharing instead. Is it not working/included in newer ROMS?

I have the same phone config and I use PDANet without problem almost daily on week days without problems. I don't have my laptop here today but I will check again this weekend and report if things have changed for me.

krusty46,
I've been looking around at the PDANet problem and stumbled upon the ICS. I'm gonna try it.
Thanks!
The other thing I've noticed is that it may help to get online on the phone first, then tether. If you get the VZW screen, then disconnect the tether, reset the phone, get online with the phone, then tether again.
I dont know if its becauase I've been messing around with re-flashing alot, but I did a *228 - 2 and everything came back normally.
(At least for now).
Now, If I can just get GPS to work.....
I'm using DCD 3.2.6 Rom and 3.42.50 Radio, which I flashed after the MR1 release.
I have Cincinnati Bell...and I have a Unlocked Wing
I have the Wing Flashed to OS 6.1...like a custom rom....and for some reason my internet does not work.
it connects via wifi, but when I try to access it without...it always comes back with Page cannot be found.
Yes, the internet settings are configured.
Yes, I have a internet package on my plan.
Any ideas why and how to fix this issue?
nevermind fixed it myself.
I have tried to use my tmobile touch pro 2 with wmwifirouter 1.25 and xda wifi router. It worked with my XP notebook and my old tmobile MDA but not vista notebook(home, x86).
Can anyone share me with his experiences?
Thanks,
Roger
I use version 1.50 with vista. It works (exclude bluetooth) fine. But this version is commercial. I think you can get a newer free version as 1.25 here.
Gerhard
I got an 1.52 (build 1050) and it won't work.
What is your setup?
Thanks,
Roger
Hm, there is nothing special in my setup. It is working via usb-cable and wifi. Perhaps the 1.52 free version is different from the commercial?
Gerhard
Is it really worth the $30 for this app?

I haven't installed it on my tp2, but i had it on my diamond and quite frankly i think it is worth the 30 dollars. I use it quite often because i travel and i know that no matter where i go as long as i have my phone(with signal) and my laptop i will have internet. I like the fact that with the wireless you can connect several computer to one internet source. I can't wait to install it on my tp2.
I'm using this one:
