Would like to use touchscreen AND hard keyboard together! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Does anyone know if and how I can use the touchscreen when the phone is open and I'm using the keyboard?
I like the keyboard, but some functions are not reachable and the touchscreen is disabled when phone is open. Can anyone help please?

Re: Would like to use touchscreen AND hard keyboard together
An alternative to the stick and the touchscreen is a Bluetooth mouse. I have the Think Outside mouse and it is very good. It comes with drivers for Windows Mobile. (And it works very well under Windows XP as well. XP's has built-in HID drivers.)

Practice, Practice, Practice
I put the stylus between my index and middle finger when I'm typing so that I can quickly use it when I need to. The keyboard is missing \ and highlighting, jumping, saying OK, etc. all happen much faster with the stylus. Not a perfect solution but OK.

Can you confirm that your touchscreen is still working when you've opened your phone and are using the keyboard. My touchscreen isn't working anymore as soon as I open the phone. I'm looking for a way to use both functionalities at the same time!
thanks

Ys
Yes, I can use both, T-Mobile MDA

Never heard of the touchscreen not working when the keyboard is open. What wizard do you have?

Bluetooth Mouse, will it work?

I was curious to find out if it's possible to use a bluetooth mouse from Belkin in the XDA II. What do you guys think? Useable, hackable?
You would need some software that makes a cursor, and some HID implementation, and make all this work together..
My only question is: WHY?
Why would you want such a thing?
I tried it with a MS Mouse, MDA can find it, but no connect , lack of Pin.
Mouse is a HID Device, think thinl MDA cannot connect to such devices.
I tried to use the mouse as a ramotecontrol for the PDA, but found no way.
what is HID? also what is SIP?
HID == human interface device
sip not sure i cant see anywhere in this thread where sip is written
so in what relation was it you heard sip
i mean if it was something your dentist said it would prob have a different meaning than if it was your machanic

SIP = Soft Input Panel ie. onscreen keyboard
Surur
When taking notes with the folding keyboard, it is quite an inconvenience to pick up the stylus, hop over to look up something, then go back to taking notes. a mouse next to the keyboard would make life much easier.
I also have the MS BT Mouse and would love a HID profile for the MDAII

Now you have a BT mouse meant for your PPC from THINK OUTSIDE, here:-

I'll get a pre-sample this weekend.
I'll try to make a short-review of this. And post it for you guys.

I would want it because I have gota Bluetooth keyboard which means I can word process when out and about when needs be - but the use of a proper mouse would make this a lot easier - after all - if my hands are on the keyboard, I don't want to be constanty getting the stylus or using the buttons as I am no longer holding the device.

ya. i agree. it is hardware.
There was talk about doing something like this using the camera in most WM devices, but has probably been given up due to processor/battery constraints of having the camera chip detecting constantly.
It is hardware.. but i have thought about it and it is some what possible to do it. I'm not sure which phone you guys are using, but Wizard (and others with slide keyboard) has a magnetic mechanism that is used to detect if the keyboard has been slided out or not. So, I thought that, if you were to able to free enough space, and put a free sliding magnet on it, gravity will made the magnet slide to the position you want when you rotate the phone, and making the screen rotate.
Theoretically workable but.. needs some risky hardware hacking.
im using Asus P525, do u think its possible?

if there is a little room you can use a mercury(kwik) switch found in a old central heating (in your house) controller
Don't know how comfortable I would be carrying a glass vial full of mercury in my pocket
... would be just as easy to get an accelerometer chip similar to what Apple uses and stick it in there.

I don't think you can do that. Need to surgery to your phone.
The best option for most HTC devices is to map a button to the screen rotate option. No, not as cool as the iPhone, but it does work for quickly changing the screen view. The other option, for devices like the touch that don't have very many keys, is to paste a shortcut to screen rotate in the /windows/start menu file. This will allow you to do a screen rotate from the start screen.
I'm sure HTC and others will be incorporating automatic screen positioning to the hardware in the near future. Just be glad the WM devices can do landscape in all applications! The iPhone (currently) can only do lanscape in safari, ipod and youtube. It doesn't work when you are in e-mail, sms, maps or notes.

[IDEA] Finger Mouse.

Hi,
How to have a finger mouse like omnia on Diamon or Touch Pro?
Lele.
i would like to see that on diamond as well as u do !!
I had the Samsung Epix which is the Omnia with a hard-keyboard.
The fingermouse was AWESOME for navigating the OS. After a while you learn to "double-fist" it. I would use one thumb to work the optical sensor while the pointer-finger on my other hand for scroll-flicking, some clicking, press-n-hold menu, and close button.
Being able to use 2 hands really helps alot especially since our screens can not take multiple screen inputs at once. Cool thing is that the touchpad is multitouch capable.

I know! I wish someone would make the touchpad a mouse. Or allow us to use it in games or something.
There is a piece of mouse software floating around.. Have tried it but cannot remember the name...
Google might be your friend.
How was the mouse software you tried?
theirs "fake mouse" i think it's called, it's free but personally not very good
the one i use and love is "VirtuaMouse" you can adjust the size of the curser to extra small so it is amazing in remote desktop
you can probably find a "trial" if you look around
otherwise just check their site and i think they have an official one there

Default keyboard missing keys

Hey,
I'd like to use mobile putty on my HD (for those who don't know, putty is a command-line emulator that allows me to connect remotely from my mobile to our company servers using SSH and monitor stuff).
The thing is that in order to do that effectively, I'll be needing a Ctrl key. Can't find a Ctrl key on the keyboard...
Anyone have any ideas?
Depending on the amount of time using mobile terminals I would suggest a BT keyboard. I use this and it works well and of course has a full set of keys.
Yeah, I thought about this, but I'm loath to go around with a keyboard as well as the mobile...
I'm after a solution that will save me the hassle... I'm only going to use it once in a while, on a crisis while I'm in a pub or something...

A simple answer is switch to the crappy windows default keyboard, cleverly named keyboard in your SIP list. This has CTRL but you need a stylus to hit it.

Xperia as remote Keyboard & Touchpad for PC?

Hi all,
I just had an idea: I was wondering, if it is possible to connect the X1 either by bluetooth, WLAN or USB to the PC and use the X1 keyboard as a keyboard for the PC.
I was also thinking, that the touchscreen could be used as a kind of touchpad (like on notebooks) to control the mouse pointer on a connected PC.
So I was searching the Internet if anybody wrote a software that can just do this, but had no luck. So my question is: Does anybody know a software that can just do this?
Cheers,
foo
P.S.: I know there are some remote controls for winamp & co but this is not what I'm looking for. Actually I'd like to have something like this for a much more smaller amount of money by using my xperia and a special software.

There's something on this very forum for a VERY small amount of money - all you have to do is learn how to search and it's yours. I'll even give you a clue - it' in the "Development & Hacking" section.
Go here http://t2remotetouch.blogspot.com
Is there a thing like that that use bluetooth only? like a usual bluetooth keyboard or mouse.
like that: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/features/bluetooth.mspx
Thanks kostis60, this goes in the right direction, though it lacks the touchpad feature which I'd need really badly. This app is more like "Windows Remote Desktop" or VNC.

nueUSBkeyboard is what I use - nt bothered about track pad - I think there is something that works with this but not sure of name.
And there's a paid for prg that works over bluetooth aswell but again its name slips my mind
Check out Pebbles. It allows controlling of the PC via Touchpad and Keyboard (Hard- and Softwarekeyboard). It is for free and works via Bluetooth and Wifi.
Nice Gadget but a wireless mouse and keyboard is more convenient from my perspective.
You could also use MS Remote Desktop Client to atke remote control of your PC.
Also LogMeIn works even better.
I think he is more looking for software to make the device a mouse/keyboard, not remote desktop software. These are two very different things. +1 for nueUSBkeyboard though.
Mobileremote by mobilesrc is what you are looking for.

MobileSRC MobileRemote Xperia Issues
Okay, is it just me or is anybody else having the following issue with the Xperia keyboard when using MobileSRC MobileRemote..?
When I use the keyboard all of the 'Blue' characters are displayed rather than the letters. The only button that also has a 'Blue' character assigned to it which works correctly is 'Q'.
The buttons without 'Blue' characters (A, S, D, F, G, @, Z, X, C, V, RETURN, TAB, DEL) work fine.
'W' gives me ", 'E' gives me /, 'R' gives me & and so on.
Shift doesn't work either.
I've tried pressing the blue button, Sym and everything else but no change.
Any ideas?
Regards
Sonny

I have the same issue, but the developer announced a new bugfix release in the next couple of weeks also including some bugfixes for hardware keyboards.
I had tried this application before. At that time, it didn't yet work well with the X1. Now, however, it's getting really close to being fully functional.. nice!
Current issues I find annoying:
- HW keyboard support (always in FN mode)
- Touchpad can't go fullscreen (except for LMB and RMB ofc)
- Connecting it is a bit awkward (though should be full auto in retail version)
I'll soon be buying a media center with my TV. I'm hoping I can get my X1 to be the HID. Little more fixes and this app will do all I need.

I bought the application and connecting works like a charm.
As I need the touchpad functionality most of the time, I bought it even with the keyboard problem - still worth the money for me
In case I have to enter something, I switch to the software keyboard.
try this
sailing clicker -
does exactly what you ask...with extra media player functions etc.
