Hi there folks.
First post so please be gentle with me technologywise - I'm not a novice but no expert either. I've recently got an O2 XDA mini-s and I'm very happy with it, unfortunately I have a problem relating to Active sync. My PC (which did have activesync on it 2 days ago) had a serious barf yesterday and a number of thing happened (besides losing all cookies and favourites from IE6!?!?! and a load of images that were on the desktop) one of which was that Activesync stopped synching up.
So I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it. But now I can't get the installer to run. It keep coming up with an error message about command line usage. I've tried getting the latest installshield and I've also tried to remove all traces of the previous ActiveSync installation from the regedit program. But it hasn't changed the error. Does anyone have any clue as to what it might be that's gotten corrupted? Here's the error....

EVENING ALL..
been doing quite a bit of work on both the phone and laptop... no complaints at all.. but this morning the ActiveSync didnt work.. so i uninstalled and reinstalled it again.. hoping that itd get back to place.. but while installing from CD or HD it stops @ 91%. says wceusbsh.cab file is not being read..! took it to the system administrator.. removed all entries from registry... and modified the evnt viewer as well.. everythng in vain..
the last retort is to take the back up of my comp.. and reinstall OS.. but is there anything i can do to avoid it..?

i presume you are using winXP and Outlook ?
if the sync hangs do ctrl-alt-delete and cancel all processes called outlook.exe
that solved the problem for me.
Outlook is a memory hog..
inf/pnf files is the problem

i did finally get the solution for it..!
had to delete all inf/pnf files from the windows/inf directory and reinstall.... viola successful...
if anyone else faces the same problem... do drop in a line for details

I've the same problem. It was all well until yesterday. My case is even worse than you. The error message appear every time and xda II disconnects itself. I can do any activesync right now.
Have tried soft reset, delete and recreate partnership. Don't really want to hard reset unless I have no choice.
I have found out that my problem was caused by installing a trial version of the CEBook Reader 3.5.
What I have done is restore from Xcopy, this copy was done before installing the software above, which works fine. Once I install the software, the problem comes back.
So be careful !
seems its a problem of networking.. If you are using a Proxy server, then specify that in your MS outlook settings. :?

I was forced to hard reset my K-JAM and am now having HORRIBLE problems.
Programs like Resco File Explorer and Omega 1-calc which DID install before now won't install.
Get a Cannot be installed error message.
I am tearing my hair out guys.
Anyone have any ideas WHY this is happening?

What error exactly? Did you remove the security restrictions etc prior to installing?

I get a message asking if I want to continue, I say Yes.
It asks for a location, I tell it (storage card).
It starts to install then says cannot install try another location, I HAVE tried the other location (Internal) it does not work either.
However ALL of these programs HAD installed on this machine before I had to reset it!!!!!!
I just cannot figure out what is going wrong as SOME applications have installed fine.
SPB Pocket, SplashID etc.........

I am having the same problem too.
Even after a hard reset when I try and install Sprite Backup & Agenda Fusion I keep getting the install error: 'cannot be installed, try another location'
It's driving me up the wall! I would have thought after a hard reset this wouldn't be an issue. I'm now the proud owner of an MDA Pro (Universal) that I can't use because the software I want to install won't install.

Can somebody give me some advice please? Have a Vario II and it's been working perfectly for the last couple of months using WM 5 and PIE. However, now whenever I try and save any image from PIE the error message "Error: Unable to save the file." appears!

hmm..that's odd..i'd never encounter a problem like this before,even on PIE! even my iPAQ 5450 running on wm2002 doesn't have this problem..better have the experts here fast!

I ran into the same problem... In my case I think it was a problem with the number of files in a given directory. That said I created a new folder and moved the existing files there. After which I tried the download again and it worked.
Maybe worth a shot.

- removal. installation of my Exchange Account
- hard / soft reset
- ....
Nothing helps !
Utlimately, I tried "Touchdown " which sems ok, but I lost the native mail client and prefer tis one.

i was getting the same error - so i removed big mails from my mailbox via www.
but this was only shortway solution.
the best is - but you need to have root.
1. extract files email.apk and exchange.apk from taboonay 2.1 rom
2. replace those 2 fil3s in your system/app catalog.
not sure if it will work on stock rom, cause it is not deodexed. taboonay rom does not odex files any more
Thanks for your reply. my main concern is that I am 100% under stock ROM & OTA and that I had since recently no issue with my emails accounts.
is it feasible to have any corrupcy only onthe the apk "mail" or "exhange"? If yes, I have tries to copy/paste with these app extracted from a full downloaded ROM (ie Post in the forum), but since I have un unrooted TAB, cannot change these apk...
surely basic stuff !

had the same problem
I was able to reduce the frequency of this error by changing the sync time (down to three days) and frequency (every 30 minutes). I had the errors on everymail check, and wasn't able to get any mail, with these changes at least mails started to come i.
I had these errors while on stock HC3.2 . When i was on stock 3.1, it never happend.
I then failed back to 3.0.1, and installed taboonay 2.1b, and it works perfectly without any changes..

The answer should be pretty obvious by now, don't you think?
I fixed it by deleting all my emails in exchange. Then I wiped the ACER totally clean and reset up email. The problem went away. I assumed there was a corrupt file in my email or something it did not like. I also wiped my internal sdcard clean. After I did that, I no longer had the issue. I blamed it on having my laptop running, syncing, and then having the tablet running syncing while I was deleting emails on the laptop and then the tablet was trying to load them. Anyway, after I wiped it clean, that solved it.
