Hardware button for vibrate? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi guys,
on my K-Jam (Wizard) press and hold the Comm Manager button would turn the vibrate on and off. This does not work on the TyTn. Is there another button or solution?

Profiles
You can always go to comm manager and select vibe. But I found a more elegant solution, I assigned the comm manager hardware button to this:
http://www.pocketzenphone.net/PZPForum/index.php
Adding profiles is what I needed, can even control wifi and bt state...
It's perfert for one handed use.
Cheers
m

Or use the free one by Vijay.

What I'm looking for is to do it by one button, not profile. Why can't I assign more actions to hardware buttons like press & hold?

Press and hold is a standard OS feature for WinMob. It has to be either application specific, or implemented with a 3rd party app like ButtonMax.
Why it's not a standard feature is a good question

I've heard it'll be coming mainstream to the UK soon, so you'll be able to pick it up without having to pay the import tax... then I'll be the jealous one!
Unless you're on T-Mobile like me... won't get it for about 6 and a half years after the other networks have moved on!!!
One quick Q for you..... this has a mode where you push and hold the END key and it turns the flash on for torch feature, but it says "Please not use torch for a long time, press OK to turn off" do you know with research of your application what is a long time, and how long I can get away with without burning it out?
Cheers!! :-D

VJCandela can burn out the flash, as a few guys discovered. I rewrote it to force the flash off after what I considered a relatively short time, like 30 seconds. I wrote an override, but even then, I force it off after about 1 minute. I'd be careful of keeping it on for longer then bursts of a minute or two.
The LED is clearly not designed for sustained blasts.

New great dialer

Here is some new dialer. I like it a lot. Especially in car.
http://www.mesoftware.co.nr
It's more comfortable than original one.
T9-like search of contacts from dialer itself. Dial any number from contacts with 4-5 finger taps max.
Quickly accessed picture dialing.
Changable skins.
Only things that lack are - quick access to call history and to new note.
But the developers promise to add soon.
Looks really nice. Good alternative to Finger Clix which I have already purchased.
Unfortunately, it can not map to the default green phone key - probably not possible at all unless you replace a system dll.
Regards
Michael
give this a try... MobiDial

Excellent program JaToAc but it is a bit slow to load once you press the green phone key. I am missing something or is not possible that when you enter a number directly to be able click somewhere to store the number as a new contact. So far I have not been able to do this with any of the dialers I have tried. Any info would be appreciated.
you cant do it with both dialers (adding a number from the dialer)
but phoneplus is the best dialer there is today.
mobidial is too slow and not using quick search for contacts, which is really dumb cause it does the same thung the default does (so why buy).
i bought the phoneplus and really enjoying every second, plus the writers of the program are intending on improving it a lot.
Silly question but what is T9 dialling?? I have seen it mentioned lots of times here but I have no clue what it is.
Thanks

Minimising applications on an XDA EXEC

Is there anyway to minimise a word program so that I could look at the desktop or work on a second program simultaneously
The question is... How do you "NOT" minimize it... In WM, any of them for that matter, the "X" button, which in PCs or Macs closes the app, minimizes it in WM. So yeah. Hope this helped.
but if it minimises there is no icon in the system tray which will enable a quick start of the word document
i guess there is no way to resize applications?
But if you open the program again (eg. If you pressed "X" in Word Mobile with a document open, then re-open Word Mobile, you'd get the app & the doc still open).
I suggest you get yourself a nice taskmanager like SmallMenu Plus (my favourite), Magic Button and a myriad others.
VJOkButt will permit you to minimise/close apps and switch quickly to the Today screen and then back to your active app.
I'll regret bringing this up, but apps can be made to resize:

I use the True Toolbar task manager. It also show you a small icon for each app running. Have a look.
thanks for the replies
i have installed magic button, it looks nice. i think the cross button closes the application, right?
i guess there is no way to resize the applications in magic button?
VJ, what's that vysihaya thing? On your site it says "Not coming soon..."
VJ when can you release an application that allows resided windows... and true windows rather than full sized screens...
and your right. you are going to regret saying and showing that....
will a small donation help?
PS congratulations on your kid.... spewing about your landlord.
Simon, thanks for your wishes - we've just got back from court this morning and I had to fight for an extension not to be kicked out. By the grace of God I've got 4 weeks longer for my idiot landlord to pay off his debts. Sigh, Real Lifeā„¢ can be a pain.
I've not had time to do any coding for weeks because of the baby, the eviction, and the Buzz Unlocker
However, hopefully now I'll have time to get my hands dirty again. I haven't thought about VJSihaya for a while, but I'm slowly getting together thoughts and ideas I want to add. Hopefully later this year I'll get something worth releasing out. Although the windowing system and skinning system, I guess the hard bits, already work well...

is it possible for someone to create something like that ???
or is there already something like that ???
please help !!!
There are a couple button map software out there. The one I use is AEBPlus, its a commercial software that allows you to map a button to 4 different functions (one touch, two, three, hold). There are also some free software available that will perform a similiar function. A couple of them have been mentioned on the board.

but i also use a second today screen for things like rss feeds n news flash etc so i keep getting them mixed up.
Nice idea, an extra softkey (4 is too much I think) would come in handy

I got a problem -- i'm not sure if this is a bug, but I cannot access any buttons on the screen when I call out
-- I cannot enable speaker
-- I cannot enable mute
-- I cannot add call
-- I cannot put the call on hold
-- I cannot hit the buttons under keypad and end call or any of those keys, the screen is literally unresponsive, I have to press the physical button to hang up.
I'm not sure what's going on. this is one of L26's older roms, I think I downloaded this rom on 2/18
If anyone has an answer please let me know, I would like to have these re-enabled. the screen doesn't respond to any of the presses.
if I slide around the end call or keypad I kinda get a response, but it's seldom.
Everything else is working great.
HTC HD2 T9193 (some reason it reads 8585 after the new flash)

I got the same bug after flashing a new ROM. But I could solve it by disabling the "tap time" setting in BsB tweaks in my case. If you are using the above tool, try the above suggestion. Good Luck!
thanks,
I think I found another way around it
if you slide your fingers across the buttons it works, dunno if it was intentional, but it's annoying
I think your using L26's V1.2 CAB (brilliant, btw - still using it).
I recall picking up "L26 Lockscreenfix.cab" in an attempt to prevent my ear conferencing in friends whilst talking using the capacitive screen before I found the wonderful S2U2 application. I think that the L26 Lockscreenfix does exactly what you described. I don't recall if it's uninstallable but look at your installed programs list and see if it's listed.
Good luck. Tom

A nice complement to Track Pad Wake

This is not my app, but it's a great find and I just thought I would share
Screen Off and Lock
Let's you lock the screen (turn it off) via a long press of the search button. Although there is NO widget, the app icon can be placed onto the home screen or a dock and essentially does the same exact thing.
So far it's working wonders for me, and is an awesome combination with Track Pad Wake.
If you like the app be sure to give it 5 stars and if your feeling generous buy the donate version. Links are provided below if your interested
NOTE: **Before you can UNINSTALL this app, please go to "Setting > Location and Security > Select device administrators" and then uncheck "Screen Off and Lock"**

Sounds good! Will try it out...
Like the voice commands more than something like this. Can't have another program taking over my long press on the search button. Plus a long press takes as much time as just hitting the power button on top.
Sent from my HTC Vision
I've been using this app for a few months now, and I have to say it's a great compliment to the trackpad. No longer do I have to rely solely on the power button to lock the phone. I actually configured the clock portion of Beautiful Widgets to run this screen lock application, so I don't have to have another shortcut on my home screen. It's simply hidden within the BW clock.
PS - Shouldn't this thread be in the apps/themes section?
